OOB - A infantry division was withdrawn this turn so the numbers drop was not as much as suggested.

Last turn I had not counter attacked as much to slow down my own losses. It did not really seem to make a difference so this turn around 10 good odds attacks were made and all were a success. 3-1 ratio in my favor across the board. Also air losses during combat were amazing not counting recon losses. Something like 90-1.

Your in good shape, land wise, OOB wise and morale wise. If most of your units are in static mode you might be able to keep attacking. I would plan ahead for 43/44 blizzard. If your able to hold the lines I would say your in great shape. You can then fal behind rivers, which be very hard for him to crack.

Ketza -> RE: Summer 43 (1/20/2012 12:31:57 AM)

I tried a few different things this past turn to try and get some more holds. One of which was turning my air support on during his phase. At least a half dozen times my bombers went in with no fighters and got slaughtered. In the end I lost a lot of planes for no real change in the amount of holds. Big mistake. I do however have an abundance of planes in the pools for replacement but I will lose some experience in the bomber units as they refill.

Ketza -> RE: Summer 43 (1/20/2012 12:39:29 AM)

Here is such a battle. What I am finding is it does not really matter what I put in a hex or what the fort level is he can leverage a huge amount of units and pile on. The best defense is depth with reserves spoiling his attacks so that is the new doctrine.

Ketza -> RE: Summer 43 (1/20/2012 12:40:32 AM)

Quite a few holds this turn. I filtered this based on the number of defenders in the hex. There tends to be more holds when reserves show up and increase the defenders. When this happens his losses shoot up drastically.

What can be gathered from this information is a lot of my "give away" hexes where I leave a regiment in a hex as opposed to him just walking into it are inflating his wins. I should probably stop doing that [:D]

You can see the tail end of his airbase attacks which are consistent even with all the patches to tone it down.

Production wise things are chugging along fine.

Ketza -> RE: Summer 43 (1/20/2012 12:46:36 AM)

Replacements last turn. I typically do not look at this but it seems fine.

And finally losses for his part of the turn. An uptick in attrition losses most likely led to the ratio going to 2-1 as I activated around 20 divisions last two turns to absorb more replacements.

That is what my loses average vs Kamil. Your in better shape at this point in your game, but the general line of events is being followed. You have more land to give and probably better morale over all.

Your numbers are not what will drop your cv first.

The morale dropping will lower your CV first then that will cause the number of enemy attacks to increase which will cause your OOB to start dropping quickly.

I am not sure if there is any counter this event line.

I disbanded most of my bombers or replased them with fighter bombers to increase his losses.
I also disbanded any usless airbases.

The only thing that keeps Kamil from totally rolling me is forts, but I can't build them fast enough during blizzards.

I will try your idea of more reserve units, its probably to late for me.

If we could counter attack some each turn would be very helpful to keep morale up some, but the ratio is so bad its not worth the loses.

Ketza -> RE: Summer 43 (1/20/2012 3:09:06 AM)

The turn I just sent him I did quite a few things differently. I put a lot more units on reserve and built almost 25 new fort units set at 50% toe. I am starting to consider where my snow/blizzard stand of 43 will be. I have a long term strategic idea of where I need to be for an Axis minor victory and so far I am ahead of the curve.

My only concern is my CVs in 44. If they take a nosedive even with things rather consistent as to where they are now with his advance my timetable could be reduced to crap. [8|]

Good idea about the bombers. I will have to try that.

Ketza -> RE: Summer 43 (1/29/2012 4:01:46 AM)

Turn 114

Not much changed he still keeps plugging forward in his offensive zone. Fewer holds this turn as I prepared some Panzers for counter attacks and tested out some new ideas so none were on reserve. I am keeping up a wall of level 2 forts but I think all it does is save a few troops.

Ketza -> RE: Summer 43 (1/29/2012 4:07:56 AM)

Loss wise he is inflicting 2-1 while he attacks. When I attack I am hitting him for 3-1 or 4-1. From posts he has made in other threads I get the idea he has a lot of stuff so I am not overly concerned about losses on his part. I am of course more concerned about my own losses and real estate. I did some quick math and compared OOBs since 17 June. Even with his non stop driving forward the losses are not horrendous yet. This I think is due to the fact he is not pocketing anything and his army is rather cumbersome although very strong.

Since 17 June my German losses:

-132609 men including withdrawn

-2480 artillery

+9 AFVs

-105 Total aircraft. (mostly recon)

Never give up, eh? Like that.
If I had ever to fight out a multiplayer, I would make certain you are in the general stuff of my side. :-)

At least, inventor of the no-guards counter-defensive... :-)
Keep on! Nothing senseful to comment atm, so just: Banzai!!!

Ketza -> With a certain amount of sadness (2/4/2012 9:44:58 PM)

76 and I are ending the game.

It was a long lasting endeavor with both of us taking lumps from patches and bugs. I feel pretty good about my position but the patch will screw him up. It would not be fair to insist upon patching in my opinion. If we continue without patching we will miss out on future patches where good things can happen for the game as a whole. I do not really want to experience that as we have always patched in the past.

Its all very frustrating but hopefully the game will continue to evolve and get better.

I am very busy at work so its probably a good time for a short break anyway.

So one of the longest AARs in WITE will be shutting down. I will look back on it fondly every now and again however as an AAR between 2 noobs battling it out in a new game is always a fun read. Mistakes are made and lessons learned and its always interesting.

Peltonx -> RE: With a certain amount of sadness (2/4/2012 10:25:42 PM)

This has been a very good AAR.

Thanks so much for answering all my noob questions and not getting POed at some of them seeing I was to lazy to read the rule book.

You have been the # one person that has helped me out the most as far as great advise on playing the German side and getting a look under the hood of the Red Steam Roller.

Come back soon and GL in RL.
