Do not overlook the Caucasus area; not only do some of the divisions activate but there are also a few shell divisions that are raised up there.

Yes, I pay attention to this front as well. Thank you [:)] Nice STRONG divisions! I moved them to Stalingrad area. They will stay there until I assign them (possibly) to some Stavka Reserve Army.

TulliusDetritus -> RE: Stalin's in the gulag - Tullius (Soviet) vs 2ndACR (Axis) (5/5/2011 11:56:10 PM)

Alright.

3 active fronts:

Northwest
Southwest
Southern

Leningrad attacks (ergo not advancing)

TulliusDetritus -> RE: Stalin's in the gulag - Tullius (Soviet) vs 2ndACR (Axis) (5/5/2011 11:57:46 PM)

Volkhov and Northwest Fronts attacks (I advance in the latter)

TulliusDetritus -> RE: Stalin's in the gulag - Tullius (Soviet) vs 2ndACR (Axis) (5/5/2011 11:59:37 PM)

The Kalinin Front thing (not advancing)

TulliusDetritus -> RE: Stalin's in the gulag - Tullius (Soviet) vs 2ndACR (Axis) (5/6/2011 12:02:00 AM)

TulliusDetritus -> RE: Stalin's in the gulag - Tullius (Soviet) vs 2ndACR (Axis) (5/6/2011 12:06:19 AM)

Bryansk Front. Let's see if I can at least devour one German division. It's all I ask! [sm=innocent0001.gif]

As I have said, I have NOT advanced [:(]

TulliusDetritus -> RE: Stalin's in the gulag - Tullius (Soviet) vs 2ndACR (Axis) (5/6/2011 12:09:45 AM)

In the Southwestern Front thing, many massacres, as usual on this sector. 2ndACR has kept this area very weak (this is where I launched the Mud Offensive). I'm threatening to encircle some units. They will escape, I guess [8D]

[image]local://upfiles/11562/55917E7536484A4BB2937BBF30F15008.jpg[/image]

TulliusDetritus -> RE: Stalin's in the gulag - Tullius (Soviet) vs 2ndACR (Axis) (5/6/2011 12:11:54 AM)

And more massacres in the southern part of the SW front thing.

TulliusDetritus -> RE: Stalin's in the gulag - Tullius (Soviet) vs 2ndACR (Axis) (5/6/2011 12:17:39 AM)

In the Southern Front it's official: I am unleashing the bears and now yes, I am terrorizing the weak minor Axis Allies for good! [sm=00000028.gif] No battle things to better appreciate the advance here. 3 or 4 enemy units routed and two HQs ran away. Chickens! The southern part of the enemy front almost collapsed.

The 4th Shock Army should be very helpful here [sm=00000622.gif]

EDIT: oh, and the northern city -Gorlovka- was assaulted and the fascists forced to retreat.

Klydon -> RE: Stalin's in the gulag - Tullius (Soviet) vs 2ndACR (Axis) (5/6/2011 3:43:47 AM)

Ok, make that many Rumanian AND Italian units screaming and running away. [:D]

TulliusDetritus -> RE: Stalin's in the gulag - Tullius (Soviet) vs 2ndACR (Axis) (5/6/2011 2:27:14 PM)

Turn 32

22 january 1942

No force in this world is going to stop my Bryansk Front hordes from destroying the poor souls of the German 45 Infantry Division methinks. At least that's what I hope! [sm=innocent0001.gif]

TulliusDetritus -> RE: Stalin's in the gulag - Tullius (Soviet) vs 2ndACR (Axis) (5/6/2011 2:29:40 PM)

And this turn I harvested 3 Guards Rifle Divisions. Good! [8D]

TulliusDetritus -> RE: Stalin's in the gulag - Tullius (Soviet) vs 2ndACR (Axis) (5/6/2011 2:37:31 PM)

And this is what 2ndACR says on the email: "I must have missed when you killed a damned HQ. Not sure how you did it either. But I have a Corps HQ listed as destroyed" [:D]

The case is the destroyed units thing does not show any HQ [&:] Maybe he disbanded it (an accident)? But disbanded HQs are listed as losses. Or not?

I don't know what's going on but I want some more of this "destruction", please! Panzer divisions, you are next! [8D]

TulliusDetritus -> RE: Stalin's in the gulag - Tullius (Soviet) vs 2ndACR (Axis) (5/6/2011 2:56:52 PM)

Hmm, 2ndACR is not losing a lot of soldiers. Some turns ago he had almost 3 million men. He has still the same number of soldiers. But now I have a 6,5 million soldiers Red Army [X(]

As for the German numbers, the conclusion is that I simply suck, I suspect! [:D]

No problemo [sm=00000622.gif]

Alright, the Southern Front is one of the active fronts this turn. More massacres here. The Axis minor allies are running away. Again [8D]

No battles thing. Easier to see what's going on here.

TulliusDetritus -> RE: Stalin's in the gulag - Tullius (Soviet) vs 2ndACR (Axis) (5/6/2011 7:37:20 PM)

And here are the massac... er battles.

Sabre21 -> RE: Stalin's in the gulag - Tullius (Soviet) vs 2ndACR (Axis) (5/6/2011 8:13:42 PM)

Is your opponent even trying to counterattack? I found in my test game I was able to counterattack breakthrus pretty effectively as the Germans. Those lone tank brigades are extremely fragile.

Since blizzard started (turn 25) he counter-attacked very very few times. 2ndACR had already played through the blizzard before. And of course it was a massacre. So I guess he does not want to take any risk. Anyway, unlike on my summer defensive campaign (when I massively used infiltrations to cut enemy units off or at least harass them) I am not using the infltrations that much. I am basically pushing him. In fact on last turn one of his panzer divisions attacked one of these tank brigades (1=1) and they held. Vodka? Maybe [:D] I mean, not a lot of my units can be attacked.

Anyway, he is truly liking the changes. He is seeing a big difference.

TulliusDetritus -> RE: Stalin's in the gulag - Tullius (Soviet) vs 2ndACR (Axis) (5/6/2011 8:46:47 PM)

This turn I managed to do many retreats. Finally! 50 [8D]

Active Fronts:

Northwest
Bryansk
Southern

Leningrad attacks (NOT advancing)

Volkhov and Northwest Fronts attacks (I am advancing in the latter aka active).

A HQ withdraws in Late Dec/early Jan, it shows up as destroyed.

TulliusDetritus -> RE: Stalin's in the gulag - Tullius (Soviet) vs 2ndACR (Axis) (5/6/2011 9:00:35 PM)

Sabre, my mistake, the panzer division attacking my tank brigade was THIS turn. The screenshot:

Ah, thank you very much for the info. I will let 2ndACR know that on the next email [:)]

TulliusDetritus -> RE: Stalin's in the gulag - Tullius (Soviet) vs 2ndACR (Axis) (5/6/2011 9:19:50 PM)

The Bryansk Front is OBVIOUSLY active. I want to annihilate the 45th German Infantry Division! [sm=00000622.gif]

TulliusDetritus -> RE: Stalin's in the gulag - Tullius (Soviet) vs 2ndACR (Axis) (5/6/2011 9:25:17 PM)

The Southwest Front. NOT advancing. A tank brigade is behind enemy lines because it was trapped there after an infiltration on last turn. I have opened a corridor.

TulliusDetritus -> RE: Stalin's in the gulag - Tullius (Soviet) vs 2ndACR (Axis) (5/6/2011 9:26:51 PM)

And the attacks made in the southern part of the Southwestern Front.

TulliusDetritus -> RE: Stalin's in the gulag - Tullius (Soviet) vs 2ndACR (Axis) (5/6/2011 9:34:37 PM)

As I already said, I never did the Blizzard Offensive before. This is my first time. I think I could have done it better [8D] And this has nothing to do with Big Anorak's rule. No matter what, I would always it (because a massive attack is ahistorical). I simply think I have been somewhat incompetent.

What have I discovered? An enemy 2-units stack with fort level 2, 3 or above is generally unvulnerable, even if attacked from 3 hexes (9 units). BUT a single unit -even with big fort levels- cannot resist an atack from 3 hexes (9 units), perhaps 2 hexes (6 units) are enough. This is NOT a scientific approach at all, just my impression so far.

TulliusDetritus -> RE: Stalin's in the gulag - Tullius (Soviet) vs 2ndACR (Axis) (5/6/2011 9:42:27 PM)

I have sent the 43 Stavka Reserve Army to Bryansk area, to keep pressure. 4 Rifle Divisions + 1 Tank Brigade + lot of support and a decent leader.
