ORIGINAL: Keke I'm spending far too much time with this game, but I'm loving it. [:D] Did you have previously knowledge in this conflict? Or have you read any book? Just a guess, but perhaps this game is not a success because the topic is rather unknown. Also a guess, Seprus does not post more is because the game was not as successful as expected? Smele considers that the best book on the war is the one Catlord recommened in its day, Mawdsley, that by the way is also sold for the ipad [:'(] http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/the-russian-civil-war-by-evan/id336163800?mt=8 I've read Mawdsley. Excellent one indeed. For SEPRUS, ask them.[:D] Yes, I have had for long some knowledge about RCW, having been in the past an historian, but mainly about political aspect rather than military. For the causes of business failure, let's say an game released in unachieved state on a obscure topic , without vigourous presence on the board can't expect much. AGEOD is yet believing on the illusion the wargaming market is the same than in 2005, when they released BOA. At this time, many less games were available, and general quality was lower, especially for GUI and graphics. Today I've on my HD: - War in the East - CMBN - WW1 gold - Battle of the bulge - Filed of Glory - Mathe's game about Napoleonian warfare - Scourge of war - Hannibal -Decisive campaigns -TOAW 3 To just mention wargames. I could add Fallout NV, GTA IV (yes GTA IV [:D], Witcher 2, Civ IV. And I could talk about 4X in space... All these games are just awesome. Each one is deserving a first rate place and 5 years ago, when anyone went on the same forum when one great game was published, I couldn't even have dreamt about such a profusion. It's just a miracle I'm stickied with RUS [:D]. Not a miracle anyway, because the AGE engine, when used at full potential, is on par with all these great games. You just can't expect much when you publish a game unable to deliver this potential. That's not to say RUS should have been published bullet proof. If you remember well, even if the number of copies sold was low, RUS had in the first 2 months after release a very active forum , and this interest could maybe have enlarged the audience with a few months more of active work and presence. A confidence: since I'm here, and not on AGEOD board, my blog frequentation is raising, the number of FY downloads too. I patch often, I reply as soon as possible, I explain the concepts of the game, some short sketches of AAR. I even do a movie about installation process. As I've said I need players input to polish the mod, and I know how difficult for a player is to try a mod about an obscure game on a obscure period, especially if he has tried then shelved the official version. Most mods aren't generally so much improving the game ( arrogant I know, but the feedback by most players of FY is more or less underling this point, and, believe me or not, I'm yet puzzled how good is the AI [X(]). But, if I didn't made this effort, FY would have remained played by...me. And it would have never been that good. I will not have thousand of players, and I don't need that. Just the small number necessary to perfect FY will suffice. I'm confident I will get it, thanks to all of you. [8D]
