Cheers! [&o]

JJKettunen -> RE: Fatal Years for 1.03 (8/11/2011 4:50:12 PM)

Something wrong with the Bogaevsky event. Maybe updating was a mistake for me.

(You can see some healthy resource numbers due to latest requisitions, not yet spend).

Later, I got to go now.

JJKettunen -> RE: Fatal Years for 1.03 (8/11/2011 5:51:56 PM)

Here it is.

JJKettunen -> RE: Fatal Years for 1.03 (8/11/2011 6:21:34 PM)

Wow, I thought all "recruited" generals were below average, but now I now got M.G. Babiev (5-3-2) who is both charismatic and brave!

...and handsome! [:D]

Yes, that's one good idea of the official version: random generals are sometimes exceptional.

For the bug? I'm investigating but it seems to be isolated incident. New features ( and the Siberian new events has forced me to duplicate hundreds of events) seem to work well.

JJKettunen -> RE: Fatal Years for 1.03 (8/11/2011 7:25:05 PM)

My guess is that it's only a compability glitch which shouldn't happen in any new games.

Chilperic -> RE: Fatal Years for 1.03 (8/11/2011 8:11:43 PM)

As Fatal Years has never been so much downloaded, I should know soon if there's a fatal blow in this new version[:)]

Chilperic -> RE: Fatal Years for 1.03 (8/11/2011 11:03:54 PM)

New version on my blog ( see my sig) fixing the bugs mentioned here and on my blog. sorry for the trouble.

JJKettunen -> RE: Fatal Years for 1.03 (8/12/2011 10:05:28 AM)

Clovis, in my opinion something should be done to the war against the Balts. Again in my game Von Neff and co. have started at Tarto, and the Reds are not going to declare war there apparently. No point in trying to lure Finland into war because Pskov is not controlled, and recognizing independencies has such dramatic consequences that it will be used only as last resort.

Was peace in Baltics states the most obvious outcome historically? [;)]

JJKettunen -> RE: Fatal Years for 1.03 (8/12/2011 10:36:34 AM)

Meanwhile, PON looks more and more like... not a game you want to buy.

The 1862 has been done by someone ignoring totally how the AGE AI works. That's exactly the main AGEOD trouble: they have a good programmer having built a supeb engine, a great designer collecting accurate data and between, subpar and self satisfied "volunteers" developping poorly engineered scenarios. These "volunteers" are considering themselves as game designers but they have just forgotten among other things there's an AI in computer wargame. I may assure you AGEOD has the method to improve the AI. I've written several posts about in the beta forums. They don't care, they don't use, because it's a lot of work and working on AI is less rewarding than putting a "SCENARIO", even if it doesn't work.

That's sad. They deserved better. But they have never listened to those pointing out the problem. They even considered the trouble was due to those mentioning some points had to be changed.

Back to FY. THe AGE engine at least is superb and great games can be done with.[:)] 2 conditions: understand how AI works and play yourself the scenario.

I've done a few changes but before uploading the change, could you send me your Scriptreport file? I want to be sure there's not a bug on the REd side affecting war declaration to the Balt States.

I think it has been overwritten since I started a new game. I really had rotten luck in it...

Chilperic -> RE: Fatal Years for 1.03 (8/12/2011 1:20:32 PM)

New version uploaded, fixing the Siberian units at Pskov bug ( forgot to add a condition [8|]) and modifying a little chances Red AI has to decare war on Balts.

Just for the fun, the scenario designer has replied on the thread after my mors:

http://forum.paradoxplaza.com/forum/showthread.php?553593-Pride-of-Nations-American-Civil-War-1862-%28DLC2%29&p=12729888&viewfull=1#post12729888

The most amusing part:

"One thing difficult about any game is the AI. How in the world do you train an AI to do exactly what needs to be done when it needs to be done! The player, having imagination and strategy, does things differently every time they play, getting the AI to respond to players in all situations is very difficult. When testing this scenario, with the limited number of beta testers, the USA was seen as aggressive enough to provide the CSA a challenge. Instead of moving North as CSA players, they kept to the script of the war and went after the Union forces in the South. Unfortunately you cannot really test every and all situation given a finite amount of hours and individuals."

He should try Fatal Years [;)]

JJKettunen -> RE: Fatal Years for 1.03 (8/12/2011 2:15:15 PM)

I might start all over because I lost too many quality regiments (FE the 'White Wolves' again!) due to my carelessness. [:o]

Chilperic -> RE: Fatal Years for 1.03 (8/12/2011 2:32:32 PM)

My blog has never been so frequented and FY so downloaded [:)]

Remeber there 2 polls on my blog about reasons to play or not FY:

They are anonymous and help me to understand better what I could do better.

The big question is does FY work with it?

Yes the new changes are just affecting the exe and adding a few more portraits for leaders.

In any case, if you want to use the patch, you have to:

1) Apply the official 1.03a patch to the folder containing your Fatal Years version

2) Install again Fatal Years mod, as the official patch will remove some files of FY.

What remains unknow is the presence or not of NEW bugs....[:D]
