My 11 year old car with 143,000 miles on it now needs 2500 dollars worth of repairs. I now have to consider the economics of a new or new used car. <sigh>

This car has treated me very well for the last 11 years.

"Sunk costs", dude. Sunk costs.

Oh, by the way, what's a 'new used' car? [&:]

A new used car is a used car that you buy after looking at options. The 1991 Tempo I bought used in 1991 was a new used car. It had 8,000 miles on it and cost about 5,000 dollars less than a new 1991 Tempo at the time. Basically it is a very late model used car. Per the build plate on the door it was about 6 months old we we got it.

We also bought a 2001 Chevy Astro in Sept of 2002 that had 10,000 miles on it. Per my definition it fits this category.

At least in my way thinking [:)]

The 1991 Tempo lasted until June of 2001. I then bought my current car new. The Tempo had 128,000 miles on it when I sold it. It was kept for 2 years by the family we sold it to. Their son used it until he graduated high school.
They sold it for about what they paid me for it.[:)]

Look at those Royals

USSAmerica -> RE: THE THREAD!!! (4/8/2012 12:10:12 AM)

Jeff, how did your team turn out in the fantasy league? Shame you couldn't make the live draft. It's always fun. [:)]

Be sure to set your lineup by tomorrow night for the week beginning Monday. [;)]

Didn't they start off 'en fuego' at the beginning of last year too? You know-right before they stank up the joint? [:'(]

My A's are starting off poorly, as usual. I'm not worried, because I know they'll have a poor mid-season and a poor end game to go with their poor start. [:D]

Their Cuban refugee (Cespesdes) looks to be be a power slugger though! Two real long dingers already this season.

jeffk3510 -> RE: THE THREAD!!! (4/8/2012 3:18:17 AM)

Mike not sure...at the inlaws...yay.

Andre..yeah we suck. I have Weeks in my fantasy league...115 runs and 45 steals...Im callin it.

jeffk3510 -> RE: THE THREAD!!! (4/8/2012 4:18:08 AM)

After looking at it Mike...kinda dissapointed...I lack starting pitching..but excited...I have never played weekly...any tips?

I intentionally went after starting pitching early and hard.... like with my first 4 picks. I have Kershaw, Verlander, Lee, and Lincecum. Maybe I'm a bit of the reason you are a little short there. [;)]

Tips for playing weekly? Set a reminder for yourself to check and set your lineup every Sunday night. There probably won't be many trades with only 8 teams, but there are a lot of good players who will be free agents, so keep a good eye out for prospects. You can check the opponents your players will face for the upcoming 7 days. Starting pitchers who have 2 scheduled starts in the upcoming week are a nice bonus. And.... set a reminder for yourself to check and set your lineup every Sunday night. [:-] [:D]

This one? The only WS-J marked Lanc I know of is the 9 Sqn one that was 'adopted' by the Johnny Walker whiskey company. Several had Just Jane artwork on the nose.
