I think they do get dumped in the bin.......that is why you find 0 year a/c there that just say "delivered" and blank name.

Just scored 3 747-200C from the used bin that people let the lease expire.

And there alone is reason enough to purchase out the leases on those big aircraft when you can. No more worries about overlooking an expiring lease.

Poor schlub who lost them now has to reorder new ones and wait around for them to be delivered.

Yep, and I hope I jumped the route he was using it on too. I found routes out of Oakland that were empty. I need more 747-100 badly. I have found a ton of routes out of the under 8000 foot runway airports that are wide open for long range a/c. They are all over the US. But Cl44 can barely carry any pax at those ranges.

I cannot figure out why people take out 3 year leases on anything at all. I use the 10 year to get the lower lease price at all times. Plus I do never really have to worry about being away for a few days and coming back and finding I am missing planes out the rear end on key routes.

Actually, all those boys would be hard fights. Real hard. I did manage to knock German Wings down under me in the rankings finally.

All the smaller fish don't really have any......maybe 1 or 2 here and there. Guess i will just sit back and clobber them with 767-200 and 757-200 when they become avail.

Air Jordan is basically down and out. Down to 5 A300B4. He's toast. Damn Cricket keeps hanging on. I even jumped another 4 of his routes to try and push him over that edge. Eturd is falling fast.

Okay, the AE forum seems to concur that planes ordered by an airline that goes belly up disappear and do not hit the used bin. So guess the flood might not take place.

Yep, have not gotten any response either. I am giving him some time to see if he recovers, but not holding my breath. Bupolis responds fairly well. Not as fast as we do amongst ourselves, but he responds.

I have resorted to raiding the used market for a/c under 10 years old to replace some of my 14-15 year old planes. LOL

We are just too close to getting out of the void I do not want to order new a/c of a type I will be retiring enmass.

S1:
MEUS are well down the rankings, but also have one of the larger fleets in service. The low ranking position relates to having many planes on order. Salary wars are over now.

R5:
MEUS are beginning to encounter competition. Despite this world being several days older then S1, the affect of competition means that daily operating profiles are lower.

O2:
MEUS picked up over 100 reasonably new CL44 Yukon from the used pool, plus 25 737-200, plus a scattering of other types. This is added to about 15 S-61 helicopters previously sold by ArdentEmpire and 72 Trident 3B. That was enough to make MEUS 2nd largest Trident 3B operator (after air France), Largest S-61 operated (ahead of ArdentEmpire). An invasion of Pacific islands is under way - if just I could make this sort of progress from Port Moresby to Saipan in other forums.

10 Concordes on order as a bit of a toy \ marketing experiment.
58 747s on order as well.
MEUS now ranked 27th

Best place to use the S61 are at the heloports in game. There are 5 worth using them out of, but only if you already have gates at surrounding airports. You will lose money on gate fees if not careful.

Decided you like the Trident 3B after all?

Okay, planning future a/c purchases when we leave the void. Initial purchase:

30 767-200.........this should allow all of them to arrive before the next version of 767 comes out
100 757-200........this will be a mainstay a/c but I might order a 50 a/c batch at start
200 A320-200.......this will be my mainstay of short/med range a/c

I will also be grabbing 1-2 of every new version of a/c to test performance and such. Luckily, I have R5 as a test bed also.

Just picked up another 1 yr old IL-18D from Cricket. He's like a Zombie that will not die!

I see that the European Group now has THREE members in the top 10 of 02. Meus, we expect you to join us up here.

As for R5, finallly got my credit rating back up to B status and could finally lease another plane. I promptly ordered my first 747-400. Scheduled delivery date is 2 months away in November 1991.
Still placing my 767-200ERs as they roll off the assembly line. Some of them go onto routes I will maintain long term, while others go on even higher passenger routes that I will swap 747s into as they become available. Every 747 that I swap in then allows me to redeploy the "placeholder" 767-200ER to a new uncontested route.

O2, I continue exploiting empty routes as I find them.........found 3 gems with 1200 miles each having 600+ pax totally empty. Plans keep firming up for the number of a/c that will be needed for upgrade. New estimate for A320-200 is over 400 of them. Still having no problems placing 747-200C that arrive.

R5......Minn Air finally hits the 5.6 mil a day profit, buys first ATR off lease. Credit rating now AA with a possible 800 leases. Ordered 10 757-200 and another 6 A320-200. This added to previous orders.

China air is taking it's own sweet time growing. Only making 1.6 mil a day. Placed orders for a whopping 2 A320-200.

Now I have to go offline for about 2 hours and that will be when Cricket decided to belly up or someone will shed loads of great a/c.

Speeking of Cricket, I just picked up a TU-114 of his that had been seized by the repo man.

I have been looking at long term upgrades. I keep (only) thinking of replacing my aging (or will by then be aging) jets.
I keep forgetting about the 1000-1100 (many of them truly) aging prop planes. It will not only be a major expense to eventually swap them out for jets, but the sheer number as well. With 3-4 weeks per delivery, I will either have to branch out into multiple builders (Boeing, Airbus) etc to get the numbers, or have to wait for the 5-10 yrs it could take to fill the orders.

In the meantime, I will keep picking up younger prop planes from the bin when they turn up. You can also bet that I will put in a HUGE order for Il-18D when they end their run in 1978.

Well, I have been doing the same thing. I have actually been going thru and using 737-200adv and having it hit up to 8 routes taking the place of prop planes. I lose some overall profit, but sometimes (depending on distance) that single jet replaces 2 prop planes or more.

I am looking at 1988 before I can begin receiving my A320-200. I might even have to use some newer 737 to replace some a/c. But of course once you get to our size, money is not that big a deal so maint is not an overall concern.

It will cost me roughly 15 billion just to order the 400 A320-200 that I figure to need. I used the 727-200 as a rough model cost wise and priced out a order for 400 of them. This is going to be hugely expensive. LOL

That 15 billion is roughly 1/2 of my current cash on hand. But I also have 12 years to save money before they are even avail for me to buy. But luckily, it will also only cost me 7.5 billion to place the order as a down payment and then I pay the remainder as they arrive. 757-200 and 767-200 will also be a major butt kicker.

Not sure what the production rate of the A320-200 will be, but just for shiggles, let's say its one every 2 weeks (production rate for 727-200 is every 2 weeks).

52 wks per year

52/2 = 26 planes per year

400 planes in order / 26 produced per yr = 15+ yrs for the completion of your order.

The first planes in your production run will need to be replaced as the last one is coming off the line.

Which is why I made the prior comment about having to order different planes (even for the same purpose, i.e. short range, mid range, etc) from multiple manufacturers just to get the numbers you will need.

I know that, and it is every 2 weeks. LOL but the game ends year 2000. That was why I said I will probably have to grab 737 versions and everything not bolted down. LOL. Plus I will pray for lots of people to get whacked by the repo man. LOL

But I have not done a complete route check, but some routes will have a single 757-200 used to fill it out or whatever it takes. I need to check the end date for the Trident 3B.......they might just stay in my fleet until doomsday comes. That removes almost 200 A320-200 that need to be bought. I do know I will not be getting the 737-400......not sure why, but it just does not make money compared to the A320-200 in R5.

It is the 400+ CL44 I have in my fleet that have me worried. LOL Some are getting long in the tooth and I am slowly replacing them with new ones that arrive.

End date is 1982........guess I will be buying a ton of them staring in 1980. At least it will allow me to replace the ones I have.

I have 150 Trident 1E and 2E that will have to be replaced, another 100 or so DC9 series. Face it, it is hopeless. I will fly them till the wings fall off.

I only have 3 new CL-44s coming off the assembly line, then the production run for me is over. I had swapped out some new ones for old ones but it seems like I keep finding empty/mostly empty routes to put them on before I can swap. - LOL

It's to the point that I am buying 14 yr old Brittania's and TU-114s (when I can find them) to put on these routes I am still finding. Found a 400+ passenger route empty in Australia just a bit ago. Only a 3800mile distance but I used 3 747s (to cap out the last of their hours--a flight each) and then had to buy a Brittania & a TU 114 to fill out the route. I can't afford to let a route that will get me $300-400,000 DoP go by unfiilled.

That empty route was sandwhiched between a number of others that had 3-4 people competing for passengers. LOL

Yep, I am finding them all over the place......some in the heart of my little empire. I am like "where did that come from".

Okay watch the upstarts, Cilacap failed to respond to a "are you sure you want to muscle me on routes" and is now 12 mil in the hole and sinking fast. Failed to respond but dropped prices on me twice after PM sent. So he paid the price. Not playing with these guys if they fail to respond to me.

Another 2 to watch out for are Joger and Somang.......Joger is just being a pain in the US, but he likes to try and flood routes. Somang is flexing his muscle and trying to invade routes. He is fairly good sized (28 bil value) and I am not sending PM's to him, he invades my routes, I flat out stomp him on the route.

Another small fry trying to earn his spurs but failed to respond is CDS. He also is getting stomped on invasion routes. Even if I have to take a loss on the route.

A few jets are beginning to appear on the used market. MEUS have snapped up used planes in both worlds. These used planes are not available for long though. One used 737 appeared, and was gone to another airline in a matter of seconds.

In R5 Customers can now almost fly around the world using alliance flights, except for using what the Japanese call a "limousine bus".

Edit: just got 7 747 and 3 a320 in S1 used - someone must have quit

For the first time ever, MEUS have been buying new planes and using them to retire older planes. Otherwise little has happened, except that the Shorts 330 is now in service. The original is operating around the Hawaian islands, but the next 24 will serve the smaller Brazilian airports.

Are you sure about 52 weeks a year for deliveries? If months are 24 days long, then there are only about 42 weeks a year!

The Sea King helicopter is proving useful when flow to small airports outside New York that have low gate costs.

They can do that too........There are 2 or 3 helo ports in downtown New York......cannot remember the airport codes. Just type in helo where you would the airport code. It will list all helo ports.

Those downtown ports have some serious pax counts too. Heck one of them has 600 pax wanting to go to Madrid direct. LOL

R5.......new member brought aboard..............MACAir based out of MSP in the US same as me. He was willing to split our contested routes evenly and work together out of MSP, so I invited him to join.

Everyone feel free to welcome him aboard.

O2...........European Group is ranked number 2 and gaining on number 1 quickly. We are only a few billion in value from overtaking them.

R5........Minnisota (yes, I know how to spell it, but typo will cost millions to change) Finally hits 8.5 mil a day profit and is receiving a steady supply of new a/c. 767-200 enters service to Europe. 30 mil cash on hand.

China Matrix........finally hits 2 mil a day profit. Going is slow, but slowly picking up steam. 10 mil on hand.

O2.......Air France at 259 mil a day profit with 1700 a/c that are all owned (except for the newly arrived, just have not bought them yet). Fleet shuffling continues as prep work begins for the arrival of 767-200 and 757-200 a/c. 43 billion on hand.

Crash and Burn........fleet wholly owned and holding at 27 mil per day. 13 billion on hand
