Artillery fire took down this telephone pole and when my T34 tried to drive over the obstacle it shed both tracks!

Redmarkus5 -> RE: Awesome In-Game Screens (6/11/2012 8:19:25 PM)

Meanwhile a second T34 takes incoming artillery fire and also loses both tracks.

I stayed too long and didn't scoot in time - too many inviting targets.

The remaining T34 pulls back as ordered, but keeps it frontal armor oriented towards the enemy.

wodin -> RE: Awesome In-Game Screens (6/14/2012 10:43:24 PM)

Maybe he shot himself? Prisoners can be killed in CMBN aswell. Not sure if they could in Close Combat. APOS is, like Steel Fury, such an underrated overlooked classic it boggles the mind. Its the best RTS since Close Combat 2 hit the streets. CM when the Eats Front game come sout will still be my number one due to WEGO nothing really comes close to APOS though and if CM didn't have WEGO it wouldn't get a look in by me.

bairdlander2 -> RE: Awesome In-Game Screens (6/15/2012 2:21:40 AM)

He threw down his weapon,Im not sure if he was shot by Russian purposely or just got in line of fire,its still pretty neat either way

icebox -> RE: Awesome In-Game Screens (6/15/2012 4:21:17 AM)

+1 although the pause feature in APOS means that you basically have a WeGo game right there, with the added advantage that you don't have to wait while the turns are processed by the computer.

budd -> RE: Awesome In-Game Screens (6/16/2012 2:52:43 AM)

Those are some cool shots guys. i always miss the cool shots[:@].Keep them coming.

eniced73 -> RE: Awesome In-Game Screens (6/17/2012 8:50:45 PM)

Started playing and have to say I really like a lot of the features. Especially the encylopedia in which you can compare gun vs armor. The after game stats showing exactly where shells penetrate armor is cool too.

The only major downside for me is the realtime play with no playback. On anything bigger than a small battle you can miss so much of the action because of this. I can spend a good ten minutes reviewing turns in CM. Watching the actions from several different angles is great.

I think if APOS had this it would definitely take a few players away from the CM series.

bairdlander2 -> RE: Awesome In-Game Screens (6/17/2012 9:02:44 PM)

Thats why a 30 minute battle takes me 3-4 hours in real time as i pause and look at as much as I can.

Redmarkus5 -> RE: Awesome In-Game Screens (6/17/2012 9:47:14 PM)

I like the lack of playback because I play the game with the mindset that in APOS I am a Company or higher commander. I have limited information about events, even less enemy Intel, and there's no playback feature in the real world ;)

Treat is as a simulation of command dynamics and you'll get more satisfaction out of the application.
