I don't know where they were headed but I'm guessing Jim will turn them around pretty quickly now. I'm thinking I ought to chase them
down and sink them all.

Jim has somehow gotten one of his subs in close to where I'm moving resources and I need to persuade him to move his sub else-
where.

The shooting is hot and heavy at Iloilo.

The pre-DA ground bombardment is still going on. Probably for another week yet.

To show you how fast things have been moving here's an animation showing where the Combined Fleet has it's LCU's, planes, and etc.

I've made it easier to find them by making them blink. I think maybe it's pretty cool too.

That's a lot of units to have to change the HQ of. I priced changing HQ's of a unit and it's not cheap. 847 PP's for the 1st China Assault
Div. So to change a lot of these, it might have to wait for a while. Maybe not......lemme look around and make a list and get back to
you. I predict that it's going to cost about 2,000 PP's. I'm probably way off.

EDIT: I'm wondering why I was allowed to move the Combined Fleet stuff out of the home islands. Maybe I'm confusing the Combined Fleet with the General Defense stuff. Maybe I should make one of these for all the HQ's that have units and that way I can know what needs to be changed yet. Come to think of it.....it might be easier and cheaper to just move the HQ unit closer to it's units. I don't have the command range memorized for the HQ's but I'm hoping it's like 20 hexes or so. Just so it can reach everybody under it's command.

I thought it would look even better yet if I centered the small-map box over the place where the actual HQ unit is already located. Combined Fleet is parked at Saipan right now.

Southern Army HQ is at Saigon.

EDIT: I may have to move this bad boy down to Cam Rahn Bay. Just to be closer to the stuff near Davao.

Just one thing Larry ... can you start to date the in-game dates. Enjoying the AAR and your comment. Keep up the good work - bit slow on Singers though ...

larryfulkerson -> RE: Parry vs. Spar Reluctant Admiral 4.2 (7/6/2012 12:14:01 PM)

Here's the Northeast Area Fleet. Notice that I have one LCU at Ocean Island that I need to change the HQ for.

Yeah, um.....I'm thinking some more major-ish invasions might be necessary, both to gain some port/airfields and to inject some more troops onto the Singer suburbs. I need more troops there to hold the line and push back and do some siege stuff. I don't suppose it might be possible to use ENG troops to hold part of the line in places so I'm gonna ship some more INF guys in there. Here's a picture of the possible invasion spots. Singer itself probably still has a rumentary minefield in it's hex or I would invade there too.

The SouthEast Area Fleet is at Truk. I'm toying with the idea of moving it south some. Say to Hollandia.

larryfulkerson -> RE: Parry vs. Spar Reluctant Admiral 4.2 (7/6/2012 12:40:34 PM)

One of the ground units assigned to the SouthEast Area Fleet is this CD unit in the home islands that I guess, can't be moved. But it's like 400+ PP's to change it's HQ unit ( to General Defense or something ).

EDIT: On the other hand there's not the word "static" anywhere on it and the "move" button isn't greyed out so maybe I CAN move it.

larryfulkerson -> RE: Parry vs. Spar Reluctant Admiral 4.2 (7/6/2012 12:55:58 PM)

The Mobile hospital for ships (MHFS ) used to be based at Jolo but I'm thinking of moving it south to better support the subs and ships
that are operating closer to Darwin. Especially that AKE ship....I need to move it south for sure. Plus I need a better port for ship repair
kinds of things. Less days downtime I figure. I'm guessing that the higher level ports can repair ships faster than the level 1 ports,
although Jolo is a level-2 port it probably isn't all that much faster at ship repair than a level-1 port would be.

Here's another one of those Mobile Ship Hospital Groups.......this one from BubbleDrop moving to Rabaul. To better support the subs and ships around the Rabaul area.

Johore Bahru is not a good place to land as you must pass through the Singapore hex iirc. Never land directly at Singapore (or you'll be sorry...)

Looking at it you need to leap frog to Kuantan and then to Mersing under cap umbrella. Too late for a Mersing gambit, and without Singkawang - no aerial protection might be costly even against the Allied bi-planes / surface forces

You HAVE to pass through the Singers hex to get there? This one is out.

Because of the terrain advantage that the Allies have there? Thanks for the heads up.

oooooo......good idea. I'll use some of my CVE's, CVL's and maybe a CV thrown in there for good meassure.

Yeah, I gamed it out in a different game and it cost several ships and major damage to several others. Definately wouldn't want to try
this without air cover. Lost lots of ground troops too as I recall. Not a good all-around situation there.

moore4807 -> RE: Parry vs. Spar Reluctant Admiral 4.2 (7/6/2012 5:26:01 PM)

12/31/41 was the last turn I have, Larry sent me the replay and combat report for this turn, but due to wonderful Comcast I couldn't download them til this morning.

It looks from Larry's reports the small CL Boise force was intercepted by a Jap CL force, I think it's a win based on damages - but I didn't slow down or interrupt the invasions which was the original goal.

I have Singers as well fortified as I can, plenty of mines and planes as I can fit. I packed it with as much supply as I could before the seige sets in, so I'm hoping to make it an attrition battle there.

Port Moresby is the other battle area I hope to have an attrition war at. If he's going for Australia I want it to be on my terms.

The supply TF was for Pago Pago/Efrate - where I'm soon going to start my build up of forces to turn northward - eventually going for Truk to break Larry's supply chain in SWO/CEN PAC.

Sort of wishful thinking, but if it goes right - It will force his carriers out in the open against my LBA.

Yes, it is moveable. It is a very good unit to defend an island or atoll with. 36 8cm+ guns that can fire at transport ships... that is not to be underestimated at the right spot and the right time...

Cool. I'll move it to Wake or somewhere appropriate. Thanks.

Just got Larry's turn back out the door... I'll post some more tomorrow. Bad Storms in the area from all the heat today.

larryfulkerson -> RE: Parry vs. Spar Reluctant Admiral 4.2 (7/8/2012 10:14:55 AM)

it's 02;00 Sunday morning and I'm in possession of Jim's moves and there was a lot of action this turn. I'll post the highlights of this the 02Jan42 combat results:

Here's some Tracker alerts: What's it telling me about Bombay's airport for? lapse of FOW?

Here's the economic chart. I have since turned up the output of the NavY and MerY. So the pool for both of those should grow slower or slowly decline. I'm keeping an eye on the oil refinery output and the pile-up of oil at Miri and Brunei.

larryfulkerson -> RE: Parry vs. Spar Reluctant Admiral 4.2 (7/8/2012 10:51:43 AM)

Here's me boosting the output of Zero's by 92 and the engine for it by 100. So maybe sometime in the future we'll see more Zero's out in the field. Tracker says I'm building about 3 per month and that's not nearly enough.

I lost a sub to a minefield near Singers. I-153 ended up sinking so at least I know there's a minefield there now. I'm posting this here to remind me there's a minefield there because there is no minefield dot on the map..
