Operation SHINEY BUICK is finally getting started. It's the bombardment of the Allied forces at Port Moresby. No damage was done by
this raid but maybe future raids will be more successful.

larryfulkerson -> RE: 30Jan42 Moo v. Fulkerson (9/15/2012 5:00:37 PM)

More action in operation BEAT DOWN. Every little bit helps I guess.

larryfulkerson -> RE: 30Jan42 Moo v. Fulkerson (9/15/2012 5:04:01 PM)

I'm hoping that all these air-to-ground raids will slow him down enough so my guys get to Mersing before he does.

larryfulkerson -> RE: 30Jan42 Moo v. Fulkerson (9/15/2012 5:09:18 PM)

And here's an Allied raid on Port Moresby. I was hoping for more from my Zero's.

larryfulkerson -> RE: 30Jan42 Moo v. Fulkerson (9/15/2012 5:13:20 PM)

Seems as though I ought to turn off the attacks by these Betty's. This group got slaughtered.

larryfulkerson -> RE: 30Jan42 Moo v. Fulkerson (9/15/2012 5:17:00 PM)

Finally, the Betty's get a hit on a ship. I guess surface forces will have to finish the job.

larryfulkerson -> RE: 30Jan42 Moo v. Fulkerson (9/15/2012 5:20:19 PM)

I just did this bombardment to see what kind of result a DD would get on a bombardment mission. Not much it turns out.

larryfulkerson -> RE: 30Jan42 Moo v. Fulkerson (9/15/2012 5:23:09 PM)

I thought I'd try to land some more troops at Cebu to help out those already there.

larryfulkerson -> RE: 30Jan42 Moo v. Fulkerson (9/15/2012 5:26:44 PM)

Here's what happened on the ground at Manila. More air attacks are on order. Too bad I can't get a ship in there to bombard.

larryfulkerson -> RE: 30Jan42 Moo v. Fulkerson (9/15/2012 5:29:14 PM)

Here's the result of a Jap ground bombardment. More softening up is indicated. A lot more.

larryfulkerson -> RE: 30Jan42 Moo v. Fulkerson (9/15/2012 5:32:44 PM)

I'm trying to wipe out the remnants in North Borneo and a couple more attacks like this one might just do the trick.

larryfulkerson -> RE: 30Jan42 Moo v. Fulkerson (9/15/2012 5:37:05 PM)

I've finally got a toe-hold on Java. My unit there needs supplies badly however, so there's no hurry to move out to the west yet.

larryfulkerson -> RE: 30Jan42 Moo v. Fulkerson (9/15/2012 5:39:33 PM)

A little mop-up action at Mataram. Now to move those folks to Java.

larryfulkerson -> RE: 31Jan42 Moo v. Fulkerson (9/17/2012 1:03:13 AM)

Okie dokie.......it's Sunday pm 16Sep2012 and I've received Jim's moves and did the combat replay etc. and here's the latest combat
results:

Lucky for me I just happened to have some DD's sitting nearby doing nothing in particular and sent them to Canton. Unlucky for Jim
they just happened to arrive before his ships had finished unloading. Lucky for me my DD's did some pretty good shooting and
unlucky for Jim he didn't have some really really good escorts to fight them off.

larryfulkerson -> RE: 31Jan42 Moo v. Fulkerson (9/17/2012 1:11:30 AM)

Jim had some PT's and an AK to escape from my blockade around Java and they tried to make their way to Singapore and I finally got
lucky and chased down the last survivor. So to speak. I don't know how well you can see this but Jim has a sub inside the port at
Palembang. So even after they arrive at the port the ships have to be escorted. Good moves on Jim's part I think.

larryfulkerson -> RE: 31Jan42 Moo v. Fulkerson (9/17/2012 1:16:16 AM)

This is what happens when you park a sub in an enemy port, especially one as busy as Palembang. I think maybe that Allied sub's
days are numbered. Jim may want to move it before it gets sunk. Or maybe not....I myself would trade a sub for an AK too.

larryfulkerson -> RE: 31Jan42 Moo v. Fulkerson (9/17/2012 1:20:36 AM)

SS Kansan is showing up on the sunk ships list so it appears that I got really lucky again.

larryfulkerson -> RE: 31Jan42 Moo v. Fulkerson (9/17/2012 1:28:44 AM)

The operation to shut down the Cagayan Alllied airfield is codenamed GREEN STUDEBAKER and it's proceeding apace. Maybe a
couple more bombardments like this one might do the trick. Then we can switch to operation SINTILATING SNAKE to salvage the
situation on Cebu.

larryfulkerson -> RE: 31Jan42 Moo v. Fulkerson (9/17/2012 1:33:34 AM)

This is operation EMPTY ISLAND to capture another empty island from the Allies. It's going off without a hitch.

larryfulkerson -> RE: 31Jan42 Moo v. Fulkerson (9/17/2012 1:42:07 AM)

This is operation GOOD TRAINING to give my Betty's some training in airfield attacks. I'm planning on using this squadron to help out in
the air attacks on Singapore later on in the spring.

larryfulkerson -> RE: 31Jan42 Moo v. Fulkerson (9/17/2012 1:48:26 AM)

I had to divide the Sasebo Division into three parts to get it to fit on the available shipping and the first installment is at Port Moresby even
as we speak. The second installment is being loaded at Buna and I'm thinking that the third installment is going to be needed at PM
as well. Jim has some remnants making their way to PM overland and I'm hoping I can get my guys there before his guys arrive because
he may have enough fire power to force my guys out of the hex. D'oh.

larryfulkerson -> RE: 31Jan42 Moo v. Fulkerson (9/17/2012 1:54:44 AM)

I can't remember which operation is the take down of Singapore.......SHINEY BUICK or SKIDDING CAR. Either way the operation is
continuing. Looks like I need to stand down the Betty's for a bit so they can receive some more aircraft.

larryfulkerson -> RE: 31Jan42 Moo v. Fulkerson (9/17/2012 1:59:41 AM)

The AVG is still attacking Moulmein at tree-top level. I'm going to see what I can do to move some CAP into there.

larryfulkerson -> RE: 31Jan42 Moo v. Fulkerson (9/17/2012 2:04:15 AM)

Here's an Allied raid that destroyed more morale than anything else. I had one Zero working overtime during this raid.

larryfulkerson -> RE: 31Jan42 Moo v. Fulkerson (9/17/2012 2:07:36 AM)

Another Allied raid and this time I had more defenders up. B-17's are hard to shoot down I'm finding.

larryfulkerson -> RE: 31Jan42 Moo v. Fulkerson (9/17/2012 2:12:31 AM)

Jim has temporairily taken back Clark Field. My Lily's wanted to have something to say about that so they did.

larryfulkerson -> RE: 31Jan42 Moo v. Fulkerson (9/17/2012 2:18:36 AM)

I can see the need for CAP at Singkawang and as fast as I can arrange it. One of my valuable AKE ships got hit and I was going to use
that to keep the invasion(s) going too. Now I'll have to ship in another from somewhere.

larryfulkerson -> RE: 31Jan42 Moo v. Fulkerson (9/17/2012 2:23:07 AM)

Operation BEAT DOWN continues at Manila. This is way way slower than I anticipated.

larryfulkerson -> RE: 31Jan42 Moo v. Fulkerson (9/17/2012 2:28:01 AM)

Cebu is turning into a hard place. A lot more ship-to-shore bombardment is indicated I think. I think I'll neutralize the airfield at
Cagayan and then pound Cebu and then leave Cagayan for last.
