BodyBag -> Number of units (7/11/2012 6:41:32 PM)

Hi Vic

I have read different numbers, but just to be clear:

In the biggest scenario, how many units does the German and Sovjet side have?
Some say 450, others 800.

450 will be manageable, 800 not.

Cheers,

schascha -> RE: Number of units (7/12/2012 2:51:00 PM)

+1

Vic -> RE: Number of units (7/12/2012 2:56:45 PM)

About 400-500 on the German side and 400-600 on the Soviet side. Approx.

Best,
Vic

I just did a VERY rough count using the Order of Battle Tab which is an excellent tool for assessing your forces.

At the start of the Case Blue (Full) campaign :

The Germans have around 430 units / regiments including air and naval assets.

The Russians have around 600 units / regiments including air and naval assets.

There are lots of UI features that make handling these units easier. These include :

* The OOB Tab shows all your units and a double click takes you to their location on the map.
* There is a group move button for divisions (usually 4 regiments)
* If you click a Corps HQ, it highlights all the regiments under its command.
* All they key unit information is shown on the unit counters.

thx for the precisions.

And for the number of the turns ?

Erik Rutins -> RE: Number of units (7/12/2012 8:51:53 PM)

I should add that this is only for the largest Case Blue scenario. There are other scenarios (2nd Kharkov, Voronezh) and the linked 1st Panzer Army campaign that have far fewer unit for the player to control, but the full campaign scenario is both playable and quite impressive.

The short Case Blue campaign scenario starts on June 28th, 1942 and ends on August 29th, 1942.

The full Case Blue campaign Scenario starts on June 28th, 1942 and ends at the start of April, 1943.

The Trappenjagd campaign Scenario starts on May 12th, 1942 and ends at the start of April, 1943.

The full Uranus campaign Scenario starts on November 20th, 1942 and ends at the start of April, 1943.

The short Uranus campaign Scenario starts on November 20th, 1942 and ends on January 21st, 1943.

Regards,

- Erik

That sounds fantastic, always wanted to make a scenario on Case Blue myself. Have heaps of research but no time available. Can’t wait for this one. [:)]

schascha -> RE: Number of units (7/13/2012 7:34:31 AM)

I'll pruchase it immediately[:)]

schascha -> RE: Number of units (7/13/2012 7:36:46 AM)

I'll purchase it immediatly

Korzun -> RE: Number of units (7/13/2012 1:15:10 PM)

this is a must buy. I like the timeline. Until April 1943 means that a 3rd battle for Kharkov is possible...in theory

A little known fact to English readers is that Uranus has the same the kind of joke associated with it in Russian as in English.... I always wonder if the Russians deliberately picked the operation name for that reason.

I doubt Stalin would have been amused ...

Of course, maybe the drone who chose the name ended up in the Gulag? [&:]

Killjoy12 -> RE: Number of units (7/20/2012 6:20:02 AM)

How many units in the smaller scenarios?

Vic -> RE: Number of units (7/20/2012 7:19:30 AM)

Hi Killjoy,

In the smaller scenarios its maybee more like 100 vs 100. In the 1st Panzer Army campaign you start with maybee 50 units max.

Best,
Vic
