Tac2i -> RE: Desert War 3v3 [RECRUITING] (9/12/2012 2:00:29 AM)

At this point I don't know who are team members of what team. If someone has this info, please post. Does the filename in Dropbox indicate the turn order/teams? So the three highest rollers are the top team?

hatemf90 -> RE: Desert War 3v3 [RECRUITING] (9/12/2012 7:19:28 AM)

The order of factions ingame is the same as turn order.

so it should be:

North:
hatem - Japan
Sail - Eastern empire
Webizen - Emirate of Tehran

South:
mean - New York
jafale - Old Imperium
Iron - Peoples republic

ofcourse correct me if im wrong.

I have no experience with this (also dont want the responsibility [:'(]) so it will be either you Web or Sail to organize our team.

Tac2i -> RE: Desert War 3v3 [RECRUITING] (9/12/2012 1:06:20 PM)

@hatemf90: you may be correct but that order isn't what I discerned from the Dice Server email we all received. Maybe I'm having a senior moment here but I'm totally confused at this point. Guess I'll wait for the turn to get to me and then be able to ascertain teams.

Jafele -> RE: Desert War 3v3 [RECRUITING] (9/12/2012 2:25:43 PM)

I think the order followed in the dropbox folder is incorrect. Sailing guy sent his turn to hatem (OK). hatemf90 should have sent his turn to ironduke1955 (not to Meanfcker). Thatīs the order I received in the email. Ironduke1955 is the third in the list.

SailingGuy -> RE: Desert War 3v3 [RECRUITING] (9/12/2012 3:02:04 PM)

To revisit...

Nomic dice rolls and player order.
786 hatemf90
727 Meanfcker
545 Jafele
491 ironduke1955
462 Webizen
437 Sailing Guy

Turn order was set by the value of the random die roll returned from the Nomic server.

The turn order has nothing to do with the teams. The northern players will fight the southern players.

As far as I know you are the only one who has seen the map, so are the only one who knows the location of the players and thus the teams.

SailingGuy -> RE: Desert War 3v3 [RECRUITING] (9/12/2012 3:16:31 PM)

I think part of the confusion is based on misconceptions we may have had going in. I think most assume that the program will assign locations as follows...

Player 1 - Northwest
Player 2 - North
Player 3 - Northeast
Player 4 - Southeast
Player 5 - South
Player 6 - Southwest

But that's not what ATG does. It randomly places the capitols.

Based on what Hate has reported, 1-5-6 are in the north and 2-3-4 are in the south.

Tac2i -> RE: Desert War 3v3 [RECRUITING] (9/12/2012 4:08:00 PM)

OK, think I got it now:

Player 1 - Nation A (could be any of six possible locations)
Player 2 - Nation B (could be any of six possible locations)
Player 3 - etc.

So as SailingGuy stated only hatemf90 would know player/nation alignment at this point and thus who makes up the two teams. So if hatemf90's post above is correct, we know who is who and on what team.

Player Nation/Turn Order

Top Team:
hatem - Japan - player 1
sail - Eastern Empire - player 6
webizen - Emirate of Tehran - player 5

Bottom Team:
mean - New York - player 2
jafale - Old Imperium - player 3
iron - People's Republic - player 4

Jafele -> RE: Desert War 3v3 [RECRUITING] (9/12/2012 7:37:54 PM)

Just to clarify a bit, this is the nomic order I received in the email:

# Sailing Guy -first listing
# hatemf90 -second listing
# ironduke1955 -third listing
# Jafele -fourth listing
# Meanfcker- fifth listing
# Webizen -sixth listing

Is this the turn order for dropbox or the team order?

At the moment the writing order in dropbox is:

1-Sail
2-Hate
3-Mean
4-Jafele
5-Iron
6-Webizen

According to Nomic, I consider Mean should be number 5 and Iron number 3. Am I missing something?

That's just a listing that I sent to the Nomic server to get results (so that it sends the same results to each person listed). Nomic does not sort the results, it only generates the random numbers and mails those results to everyone on the list. Based on those Nomic numbers, I sorted the names from top to bottom to determine the turn order.

Meanfcker -> RE: Desert War 3v3 [RECRUITING] (9/13/2012 2:42:27 AM)

Lol, wow what a clusterfck mess.
Ok, I think I send it to Jafele? I hope so, "cause that what Im a doin".
For my team, I have created a dropbox called "Good Guys" and invited you to it. Try to look at it before your turn if possible.

ironduke1955 -> RE: Desert War 3v3 [RECRUITING] (9/13/2012 3:44:35 AM)

Have "Good Guys" folder empty at the moment

Jafele -> RE: The Messy Desert War 3v3 [RECRUITING] (9/13/2012 9:09:28 AM)

At the moment there are no turns for me in dropbox or in "good guys" folder. We should call this game "The messy desert war" [:D] (a Marx brothers film). [:D][:D][:D][:D]

hatemf90 -> RE: The Messy Desert War 3v3 [RECRUITING] (9/13/2012 11:16:51 AM)

hmmmm, this shouldnt be confusing, The turn order of factions does -not- follow north nations first then south nations, its random, so its north nation (me) then south nations, then north nations ...etc. Also I dont see why we need separate dropboxes, it wont work with random north/south turns. we could play the turns normally as any other game and discuss strategy on emails.

What does confuse me is the relations between nations, right now I have peace with every body, and could declare war on north nations if I want, shouldnt there be preset alliances?

OR, we could start over, and make it that north players play first then south, separate dropboxes etc, and also organize players to be more balanced, atleast 1 player on each side experienced with commanding. with players like mean and ironduke on one side I dont think that is happening now[:D].

edit: oh and btw you can check the map yourself just take the first turn and type any password and check it out.

Tac2i -> RE: The Messy Desert War 3v3 [RECRUITING] (9/13/2012 1:32:05 PM)

There are preset alliances: north players vs south players. You should have offered an alliance to your team mates on your first turn. The random game default is that everyone is neutral and at peace. Players must take action to make an alliance or declare war.

I suggest we start this whole process over again.

Meanfcker -> RE: The Messy Desert War 3v3 [RECRUITING] (9/13/2012 10:47:24 PM)

If we start over, I should like to keep the same teams as we have already discussed our strategy and it would be wrong to exchange players now. Sailing Guy and Webizen are two of the most experienced and respected players in this game and Webizen is familiar with the unified command concept. If we start over, same teams please, otherwise lets just push on.

Tac2i -> RE: The Messy Desert War 3v3 [RECRUITING] (9/14/2012 12:48:50 AM)

@mean:agreed. Let's just forget the confusion in getting this game started and play. Win or lose everyone just have fun, though winning is more fun.

Meanfcker -> RE: The Messy Desert War 3v3 [RECRUITING] (9/14/2012 1:14:59 AM)

Cool lets push on!
Pile your grave high with your enemies.

ironduke1955 -> RE: The Messy Desert War 3v3 [RECRUITING] (9/15/2012 2:54:03 PM)

Not seeing a lot of enthusiasm for this game at the moment. In the light of reservations expressed by Web and Hatem a reset may be in order. I get what mean was saying but I did sugest similar strategy options to sail and web before it was established what the sides were. So if Sail Web and Mean can put there heads together and come up with a reset that everyone is happy with. Then perhaps we can have a game were the outcome is not so obvious.

ironduke1955 -> RE: The Messy Desert War 3v3 [RECRUITING] (9/15/2012 6:14:18 PM)

LOL Web outflanked me he posted his turn

Meanfcker -> RE: The Messy Desert War 3v3 [RECRUITING] (9/15/2012 6:50:39 PM)

?
Is it a go or a no go?
Geez, I just want to kill a few fckers, lets get to it and if it is a blow out, then 2nd place finishers get a priceless education and we mix teams for next game.

Tac2i -> RE: The Messy Desert War 3v3 [RECRUITING] (9/15/2012 11:29:39 PM)

Sometimes honey-do's take precedence... and then there are the other ATG games I've got going.

You guys are going down! We have enlisted the Klingon Empire as allies. So there!!!

P.S. I think most of the confusion that existed was my own. If I'd thought more deeply about that dice server stuff I would have figured it out sooner.

ironduke1955 -> RE: The Messy Desert War 3v3 [RECRUITING] (9/17/2012 11:26:28 PM)

My wife has only recently became entranced with online gaming. Her honey-do's consist of correcting geographic malfunctions (she does not have a great sense of direction) and killing things in the game that really ticked her off, meaning just about everything. Klingons !!!! So we should be expecting a couple of Warbirds to decloak over means capital sometime soon.

Meanfcker -> RE: The Messy Desert War 3v3 [RECRUITING] (9/30/2012 10:11:01 PM)

Hey, where is hatemf90?

Meanfcker -> RE: The Messy Desert War 3v3 [RECRUITING] (10/7/2012 11:50:28 AM)

Did we not hire on someone to keep the passwords for just such an enent?
Give Hatem until Monday and then we make a decision.
Meanie.

These one town starts are agonizingly slow. It just makes it worse for you evildoers, now instead of me giving you one great bludgeoning, you have to suffer death by a thousand cuts. :-)
Meanie.

ironduke1955 -> RE: The Messy Desert War 3v3 [RECRUITING] (11/9/2012 1:57:20 AM)

I am not getting pulse from this game did it die ?
