BEWARE ALL!!! The new unoffical AE Update patch seems to have a virus embedded in it. My Norton refused to down load the file because WS.Reputation.1 was Embedded!! FYI!!

I just downloaded and installed the x4 beta version and my Norton didn't complain at all.

I believe that the 'reputation' virus that Norton reports is due to the few users and info about the file (as indicated by the Details section).
I use Norton A/V and I just downloaded. Norton didn't report any issues with the file.

Correct, it is strictly a repuation issue .. nothing wrong with the file. I had the same error and over-road it.

You might have the download intelligence turned off? Or does Norton A/V have that selection?

I'm having issues installing 1123x4 patch and even 1123x3 patch as it looks like my Norton 360 is detecting a virus.

When I unzip, the files get sent directly to quarantine in Norton 360 so it disappears from the directory.

Anyone else having issues installing this? or did this file get hacked in some way?

So where is the 1123x4 update? Been lookin' but ain't been findin'. Just about to start a new PBEM.

My version says v1.7.1123x - Feb 9 2014, his says v1.7.1123x4 - updated 16 March 2014. Can't find anything to download from around that time.

Spence - the 1123x4 file is on the attachment in the first sticky post but I haven't had any luck unzipping it and installing it since my Norton 360 moves it into quarantine and deletes it. I'm just stuck now using the 1108r9 official version for now.

thanks all for the advice but to be honest I just don't feel comfortable turning it off or uninstalling it. I'm not much of a techie and don't want to mess around with configurations that I have no idea what implications are down the road.

BTW, my Norton 360 also detected a mplayer.exe file that stated was malicious and quarantined after I tried to unzip the file.
Not sure if that originated from the 1123x4 file but after trying again with no success on unzipping, I'm giving up.

Which is bad really since I really want to update my game with all the cool fixes since the last official one :-(

There is actually a feature in Norton 360 to allow you to override this. It is failing only because of "reputation". You can disable the reputation for 15 mins while you update. It will come back on automatically. Open the Norton site help and search for "reputation disablement".

THis is what I had to do to get the x4 on my machine as well. know your pain.

Also, I do not recommend that you do without a good anti-virus product. I just don't recommend Norton. I dumped it years ago. I currently use NOD32 from ESET, but there are other good ones such as Kaspersky. I'm sure other people will have good recommendations too.

OK - now I've done it.

I have (had) two PBEMs going...one that was in version 1.7.1123x of the Beta and a new one that was supposed to start in version 1.7.1123x4 of the Beta.

I thought I had segregated them by putting them in different directories/folders. But apparently that is not the case. Both folders got modified to the "x4" version. The saved games path for my latest turn in the "old game" still exists so the latest turn goes...somewhere just like before but not to the save game file of the "old folder" so I can't load it.

How do I fix this so I can play both games simultaneously?

The save files for the old game are in the save directory of the "old beta" version but the computer apparently can't find them. The beta in the old directory says Beta2.

Very frustrating situation.

Just wanted to chime in and give a hearty "thank you" to Michael for his continued excellent support of this gem of a game.

I do have just one request:

Not sure if this has been brought up already (almost certain it has), but is there any way of adding a "Set Ops Mode at Destination" function for ground units that are on the move? Sure would be very handy. However, if the mechanics wouldn't allow such a feature to be included then that is alright, I can easily live with that.

Or, After you download the beta, 1. Turn off your internet card in your system, I have a button on my keyboard, 2. Turn off your anti virus software, 3. unzip beta, 4. run installer, 5. when installer is complete, turn on anti virus software, and 6. turn on your internet. [8D][8D][8D]

just one request - it is posible to implement new command for air groups - allways keep this AG at max posible numbers (booth planes including 4 in reserve and pilots) - for very simple reason , when i use them at training groups so i have no longer to check them for op losses/w offs :).
