Here's the Crimea area now. This is the only place where movement is going on. Lots of savage fighting is happening here and it's
looking like John is railing people down here so the Soviet progress may be coming to a slow stop here.

Hi Larry, would that be possible to show tank losses for both the Red Army *and* the Axis? I would like to compare with the figures in Stahel's 'Typhoon' and a couple other sources.
Tx!

Yeah, I think that might be possible. Here's the Soviet losses as of T39 ( 11/2/41 ):
Maybe John will read between the lines and be kind enough to post HIS Axis tank losses.

Larry: curious as to why you committed your heavy guards reserve to attack in the Smolensk area? What did you want to accomplish there?

I'm trying to get a bulge started in the front lines and at the time the Germans in the Smolensk area were relatively thin on the
ground and it seemed best to do a bulge there. Unfortunately, I've been attacking for the last three or four turns in a row and the
only thing I have to show for it is losses. I'm afraid John is absorbing my probes w/ no problem at all. D'oh.

larryfulkerson -> RE: Field Marshal von Fogger vs Comrade Marshal Fulkerson (12/10/2013 3:27:06 PM)

Here's some of my losses from the beginning of T41. The front lines haven't moved in about10 turns now. The rivers are about to
freeze over and that will facilitate movement across the Kiev area river banks. And John isn't guarding the whole length of the river.
So the front lines might change then.

Here's the air war display for T42. The front line isn't moving and John and I are trading shots at each other attacking and causing
losses but there's no movement anywhere of any significance. It's WWI all over again.

Here's some of my losses so far. I've never had this many Rifle squads assigned so far in the game.

Hey there reglores, welcome and thanks for posting. "Oh-hand" means those units in "the pool" and not assigned to a specific
unit yet. "Assigned" means that, that specific piece of equipment has been given to a specific unit as part of their OOB now. I
hope this helps. Keep those good questions coming.

rgflores -> RE: Field Marshal von Fogger vs Comrade Marshal Fulkerson (12/14/2013 11:11:56 PM)

Thank you for explanation, I will keep following your thread. It is very interesting I have been learning a lot with.

Here's what the Crimea looks like now. I'm shooting at John and he's resisting and we're having losses but no movement is
happening.

I've lost a lot of tanks. D'oh. But the number of Rifle Squads is still high. So far so good.

A lot of tank losses. Odd though, I don't see any T-34 types in the OOB.

Larry it seems like you have been making progress in the Crimea. Comparing the Dec 17 screen shot to the Dec 3 SS you have advanced towards Kherson. A result of the amphibious landing?

Um.....I DID do an amphibious landing but there was no supply past the port and I didn't have enough units to follow up that landing
so it never went anywhere BUT John evidently thought I was going to do a really good push there and he moved his front line(s). So
I guess the answer is yes and maybe not. I'm not sure. We'll have to play this thing 10 times and take the average.

Petey -> RE: Field Marshal von Fogger vs Comrade Marshal Fulkerson (12/18/2013 2:47:20 PM)

A nice advance none the less. And it added considerably to the length of the front line. Something the Soviets are able to handle more more than the Axis.

I think you're correct. According to the OOB display thingie I've got almost 1100 units in play. We'll have to ask John how many he's
got. He may not want to answer that, come to think of it. OPSEC and all that.

So um........I thought the idea of an invasion sounded pretty good so I did it again. In the north. John was peved I bet. I have no
idea what to do now. Stay there and follow up w/ more of the same, or get out while the getting is good?

I'm guessing that John's got more combat power than you, but spread out over fewer units. A meaningful increase in the front lines dilutes his combat power and impacts his ability to establish reserves.

Petey -> RE: Field Marshal von Fogger vs Comrade Marshal Fulkerson (12/18/2013 4:01:35 PM)

If you're in supply I'd stay. It forces him to spend units to guard you; something you can afford more than he. Besides he can't risk a surprise push on your part.

larryfulkerson -> RE: Field Marshal von Fogger vs Comrade Marshal Fulkerson (12/18/2013 4:06:30 PM)

I was retreating from Hanko ( where I'm getting beat up....I have no idea why I'm still holding it ) and I thought I'd do a
little recon on my way to Leningrad and just happened to find an open port for once. On an impulse I grabbed it and
now I have a port in Finland. John rushed some units there and sailed his BB to a position within range. D'oh. It
looks like I'm going to get beat up like at Hanko. Sill, I kind of like the idea of having a port in Finland and I'm planning
on shipping some more people up there.

larryfulkerson -> RE: Field Marshal von Fogger vs Comrade Marshal Fulkerson (12/18/2013 4:21:47 PM)

I thought I'd drive a pair of BB's over to the nearest available Axis airfield and bombard it. And hopefully there will be enough of the turn
left to put them back in the shipyard afterward. I'd hate them to get caught out in the water there.

larryfulkerson -> RE: Field Marshal von Fogger vs Comrade Marshal Fulkerson (12/18/2013 4:36:15 PM)

Here's how the air war is going right now. I'm toying w/ the idea of maybe doing some airfield strikes just to peeve John. And maybe
kill some German fighters. My pilots are the George Bush type and as a result are worse than useless and I hesitate to use them that
way. Just gets them killed faster. What I like to do is schedule a lot of CS strikes and then let my AS missions to ambush the Axis
interceptors. At least that's the theory. I think that's the way it works: the bombers, the attackers, go in to the target area w/ or w/o any
escorts and the game engine finds some defending fighters nearby, I guess, and perhaps sets them as attackers on the bombers and
then the game engine looks at nearby Soviet airfields and perhaps picks out some fighters as interceptors on the Axis fighters. It's
a little complicated.
