Hey, thanks for all the screen shots. I think I'm about a week out from finally picking this up, can't wait to play myself.

The most common mistake in the game is the Allies not fighting the Germans hard enough. "But I'll lose those units." Yes, that's why it's called War.

keith63 -> RE: Keith's Solo AAR (12/6/2013 2:50:50 AM)

Thanks Brian. I'm enjoying this solo game and I'm learning a lot also.

keith63 -> RE: Keith's Solo AAR (12/6/2013 2:25:59 PM)

Here is this turn's production.
Germany: Land 2 x2, pilot x2, Inf x2
Italy: Nav 2, pilot
Japan: Pilot, CV 2nd phase, cvp, ftr 2, Amphib 1st phase, Garrison, Naval repair.
China: Inf HQ
CW: Inf, Terr, pilot x2, ftr 2, BB 2nd phase, convoy point x3
France: Inf, Militia, pilot
USA: pilot, cvp, transport 1st phase, Marine
USSR: Inf HQ, inf x2, pilot, lnd 2

Axis won initiative, choose to go first. Weather is fine everywhere.

This a2a combat took place in the ground strike phase. 2 bombers cleared thru for Germany and a dead French fighter, but the pilot survives as the fight took place over French territory.

Here is a pretty cool shot of the game asking if you want to use the notional unit after a paradrop.

keith63 -> RE: Keith's Solo AAR (12/6/2013 2:54:43 PM)

I thought this attack was a bit iffy, but was hoping for a retreat at least then a 20 was rolled lol. Lucky dice for the Germans.

keith63 -> RE: Keith's Solo AAR (12/6/2013 8:47:33 PM)

The CW unleashed its Strt bombers, hitting Hanover and Munich, cost the Germans 2 bp's.

keith63 -> RE: Keith's Solo AAR (12/6/2013 8:59:26 PM)

CW bombers and French artillery try to ground strike German troops but come up empty. Here is the reformed line as the French continue to give ground grudgingly.

keith63 -> RE: Keith's Solo AAR (12/6/2013 11:22:55 PM)

Weather is fine almost everywhere again, Germany and Italy DoW Yugoslavia. Neither DoW causes a US entry draw.

keith63 -> RE: Keith's Solo AAR (12/6/2013 11:35:14 PM)

How is this for combat efficiency? Needed a 3 or less and got both. !!

keith63 -> RE: Keith's Solo AAR (12/7/2013 4:49:56 AM)

Having Metz mostly surrounded the German's launch a risky assault.

keith63 -> RE: Keith's Solo AAR (12/7/2013 4:55:15 AM)

The attack NW of Paris goes off without a hitch. The German's now have a hexside on Paris.

The first attack on the Yugo's goes off like clockwork.

keith63 -> RE: Keith's Solo AAR (12/7/2013 1:53:11 PM)

The French line continues to bend but not break, how much longer this can last is the question. The French did consider a couple of low odds attacks but the best they could find was a plus 4. So they choose not to attack.

keith63 -> RE: Keith's Solo AAR (12/7/2013 1:57:37 PM)

Starting the 3rd impulse of the turn, perfect weather again.

keith63 -> RE: Keith's Solo AAR (12/7/2013 2:13:58 PM)

Germany launches a series of attacks probing for a weak spot in the line.

Zagreb falls to the Germans and the Hungarians.

keith63 -> RE: Keith's Solo AAR (12/7/2013 2:32:21 PM)

Also forgot to take a screen shot but Lille also fell but the German's took 2 losses and half disorganized to do it.

keith63 -> RE: Keith's Solo AAR (12/7/2013 3:14:15 PM)

Finally got the first bad weather roll of the turn.

keith63 -> RE: Keith's Solo AAR (12/7/2013 3:17:57 PM)

Italy, having deciding they have set on the sidelines long enough, declare war on the CW.

keith63 -> RE: Keith's Solo AAR (12/7/2013 3:34:54 PM)

Blitz attack in the rain is successful. On the italian side, they move a fleet into the W. Med. to contest the CW there, but neither side finds. They do have a successful Naval air attack in the E. Med, destroying CW convoy points there.

Zorachus99 -> RE: Keith's Solo AAR (12/7/2013 5:00:27 PM)

Whoever is in charge of the Western Front is obviously a Genius. Who could withstand those die rolls [:D]

I'm sure you'll pop off a die-roll of '2' at just the worst time, when you least expect need it. That's what happens to me. [:@]

Great AAR!

keith63 -> RE: Keith's Solo AAR (12/7/2013 11:55:16 PM)

Thanks for the feedback, I'm sure all those 2's 3's and 4's are lurking on the eastern front, lol.

chekers_MatrixForum -> RE: Keith's Solo AAR (12/8/2013 2:02:21 AM)

In a game i'm playing I used an o'chit for a 3 hex side attack on Paris to get it taken a turn early. A 2 pops up disorganizing the cream of my army and taking out my paratrooper [:@]

keith63 -> RE: Keith's Solo AAR (12/8/2013 3:20:08 AM)

M/J 40 ended on the Allied turn. There were no new partisians. And no US entry options chosen. US entry is really lagging behind. Here is this turns production.
Germany: Fighter-2, pilot x2, land-2, Artillery
Italy: BB repair
Japan: pilot, cvp x2, CV 2nd phase x2, Marine Div, Fighter-2, Inf.
China: Artillery
CW: pilot x2, BB 2nd phase, Fighter-2, Nav-3, Terr x2
France: Militia x3, Pilot, Convoy point
USA: pilot, cvp, amphib 2nd phase, transport 2nd phase, Fighter-2
USSR: pilot x2, mech, Inf x2
J/A 40 starts with the Allies winning Initiative and choosing to go first. The French hope to try and fix their line and hold out as long as possible.

Here is the new French line the Germans have to deal with. And in the last a2a combat i posted, nothing happened and everyone went home alive.
