But interception was not vain: it has prevented the loss of a second unit!

I've noticed you've stated that it can take a long time to move a unit.

Is that for HQ's only, or also for normal land units? If so, I would suggest putting a saved game in so Steve can investigate...

At last Metz falls!
It is again an expensive combat, but it at last succeeds!

And the Americans manage to advance in the Alps. Getting through might be more difficult though.

In Germany, the British gets a little breathing space.
Its now the Germans that feel not very confortable with less and less space to move around and land their planes.

In Germany, Zhukov offensive again meets with success.

And Guderian who has now been abandonned to himself is forced to surrender.

The last combat in the Sudeten, which I forgot to take a picture of, goes the way.

yvesp -> RE: Global War Solitaire (12/31/2013 4:33:06 PM)

The turn doesn't end!

So here is a difficult choice: all axis powers pass ? Well, Japan doesn't really care. Italy being out cres even less. But the situation in Germany is bad. If Germany moves, it is a 30% chance of a new impulse for the allies, likely immediately followed by a new allied impulse ; that's not that important though: now, German troops are arriving directly on the front line!

The alternative is all pass for a 20% chance of a new allied impulse. But if that fails, then its a new allied impulse using the enhanced position it got this impulse, and then very likely an allied impulse! (Initiative is now allies +2, thanks to the so short winter turns which are now getting paid for!)

Germany decides to move., if only to close the Oder, in the same way the Elbe is closed!

yvesp -> RE: Global War Solitaire (12/31/2013 4:34:31 PM)

Not much change in Japan this impulse, if one excepts the arrival of two new British heavy bombers...
The total strategic bombing value now exceeds 65. That's a lot.

yvesp -> RE: Global War Solitaire (12/31/2013 4:46:16 PM)

Well done!
The turn goes on, but Germany has again been able to close most lines.
But the Lebensraum becomes smaller and smaller. And the land runs now the risk of being partitionned by enemy troops. Well, this will eventually happen.

But as the weather turns agin to storms, the axis powers take a new breath.
There should not be a new clear weather impulse before the next turn!
And attacking in storm is no gift...

yvesp -> RE: Global War Solitaire (12/31/2013 5:29:27 PM)

Even disorganized, the Japanese may be too strong for the natonalist Chinese.

yvesp -> RE: Global War Solitaire (12/31/2013 5:39:11 PM)

And the turn finaly ends.
Unsurprisingly, the Germans did suffer a lot!

Japan will produce nothing but had enough oil for reorganization.
Germany produces 18, but has no oil for reorganization.

yvesp -> RE: Global War Solitaire (12/31/2013 7:08:15 PM)

Germany at the start of the May 45 turn.

Reinforcements went mostly in Berlin, Stettin and Dresden in order to protect Berlin.
Munich is left to its own ; it is not imediately threatened, and possibly some units can retreat to it.
Prague can be seen as lost. It received some planes and revived the crappy ones: the air reserve is empty. There are still planes that can fly, but they are few...

In the North, a reasonable garrison is kept in Kiel and Hamburg, as this prevents passing the Elbe and Kiel is an objective.

As expected, and this time not thwarted by ill luck, the allies get the initiative.

* Russia does a land impulse with an offensive on Zhukov: it wants to reach Berlin before the British, even if the odds are already heavy in his favor.
* The USA do a combined with an offensive (they have 7 offensives in store) ; they have prepared an interesting movement in Japan that is indeed made possible by the double impulse.
* The Commonwealth do an offensive with Alexander: they too want to reach Berlin, and they want to cross the Elbe.

Also note that I am quite frustrated with Japan: if I use its fleet, the USA will want to fight, but this is not possible (bug : the game crashes.) Up to now, that was acceptable : the fleet was being kept in reserve and reorganizing with the few oil it got each turn. But now, this won't be possible: the risk is too great now, and the fleet can be put to good use! I'm unsure about how I will proceed. Possibly interception still works (the game used to crash only at the end of the interception combat) ; I wonder what's wrong with my game: naval combat used to work at the beginning.

I also have a bug with Port Strike: after the planes have flown and fought an air to air combat, there is no attack on the ships in port...

Japan at the start of the May 45 turn.

Watch carefully: the marine unit that walked south of Tokyo has done a side movement west, in a "less" intersting place. That's on purpose,as I indeed expected the double impulse. The end of turn was likely (70%), and the initiative too (allies +2.) For once, a gamble that works!

The heroic behavior of a Japanese fighter will prevent a successful carpet bombing on Tokyo.

yvesp -> RE: Global War Solitaire (1/1/2014 12:51:59 AM)

The map of Germany at the start of the first axis impulse in May 45 confirms this.
Germany is cut in half while British and Russians shake hands at the southern doors of Berlin.
