On the Manchurian frontlines, the Japanese artillerymen don't seem to be able to hit anything anymore. It is not because they don't try:

When in Persia, the flying artillery hit's it target:

Carrier planes might be good for sinking enemy ships, but the ground strike on Rabaul fails...

German troops move across the frontlines into attack positions and the Finnish troops are put back into supply. Paradrops are made on the Soviet frontlines in the Ukraine by both the Italian and the Germans. The Wehrmacht orders all available assets into action. A lot of attacks are announced at the frontlines within the USSR, all with decend odds for the Wehrmacht, except for Guderians gamble in Persia.

Timoshenko decides to use HQ support in Persia. This hex is of utmost importance, and needs to be defended at all costs. An Italian bomber provides ground support. The Soviet FTR decides not to fly, since two factors doesn't seem to be a lot to change the odds and more Italian planes might be used next turn. The USSR decides to use the blitzkrieg table, to minimize losses and if it succeeds, the kill on the German side will be a MOT.

Loud cheers and a lot of German beer and Italian wine are spend to celebrate this great victory, while Timoshenko thinks if he did anything wrong. Guderian is a very, very lucky general indeed...

Next is an attack near Novgorod. The Soviet airforce stays on the ground. It lacks FTR's and the hex being attacked is covered by the Luftwaffe. Von Leeb decides to use the Assault table:

Rommel, near Vitebsk, totally forgot about the adjacent Soviet ART, which supports the defenders. But the Luftwaffe at least makes sure that there won't be any Soviet planes in the air. He chooses the Blitzkrieg table and hopes for a breakthrough, since there is a lot of ARM and MECH participating in this attack:

His roll was a good one, killing two units and shattering the Soviet ARM in the hex. A breakthrough is achieved (no picture).

Centuur -> RE: A musical global war AAR... (2/28/2015 3:08:11 PM)

Near Kiev, von Manstein attacks, supported by Student's Para's. Again the Soviet airforce remains passive, because of three Luftwaffe FTR's within range of the attacked hex and no FTR's are available to the Soviets. He chooses the Blitzkrieg table:

Centuur -> RE: A musical global war AAR... (2/28/2015 3:13:08 PM)

The last attack on Soviet forces is made by von Rundstedt and von Bock. Again, the Soviet airforce lacks FTR's, so no ground support. Italian PARA's support this attack and the Blitzkrieg table is chosen:

In Britsh Somaliland, Mussolini orders the Italian Corps to attack the CW unit in the port. Finally, the order comes through (this attack should have been made a long time ago, but always I pressed the end phase button too soon...). The CW chooses the assault table:

Japanese forces, meanwhile, move into position to attack Singapore and invasions take place on CW controlled ports and beaches along the Bismarck and South China Sea.

The CW cruiser gives aid to the defenders of Singapore by giving shore bombardment. However, the Japnaese fleet also fires on the defenders of Singapore. Yamamoto throwns in HQ support and the Indian forces choose the Assault table:

The capture of Singapore gives headlines in the US newspapers, but who cares with the enormous number of entry chits already in the Japanese entry pools...

On the beaches of the tropical island of New Hanover, the local defense force tries to stop the Japanese Marines, who are supported by naval gunfire. The local Major calls for the Assault table:

All other invasions made by Japan are automatic victories. I could have chosen not to include the notional units, but than I would not get such a nice list to include in this AAR.

Rommel decides to reoganise a FTR (to prevent a Soviet ground strike on the armoured spearhead) and the ART. Von Bock reorganises three land units in the frontlines. Balbo reorganises an Italian air unit.

Let's take a look at the frontlines:

Klydon -> RE: A musical global war AAR... (2/28/2015 7:33:15 PM)

Looks like a fairly good turn for the Axis. Issue is they need to keep having good turns to keep the pressure on the Russians. Russians still have plenty of units and should be able to pull back and reform their lines. Part of the issue for them is the losses on the Iranian border and the fact the Germans were not disorganized in that attack. I imagine the Germans are drooling over trying to get Turkey into the war and that would be a huge blow to the Russians in terms of length of front and the fact the Axis would be able to more easily reinforce Guderian.

The Imperial Naval Staff of Japan has to be really concerned about those three US carriers and planes coming into play this turn. The US will likely have parity if not superiority as far as carriers go and a surprise turn could really hurt the Japanese depending on what else is going on.

Ahh. But the Abwehr calculates that the chance of a succesfull DoW on Japan by the US is about 30%. Even with four entry chits moved into the tension pools (the maximum which can be moved), the chance will still be 50% or less next turn. That's also the reason why the Japanese are in somewhat of a hurry to take over the British territories. They estimate they have to go to war with the US in M/A of 1942...

November/December 1941, Allied impulse number 6:

The USSR, CW and France take land actions. The US takes a combined action.

Bomber Command, escorted by thee FTR's make a bombing run against Lille. Axis FTR's intercept and the RAF send in more FTR's. An air to air battle commences:

The Axis, after losing 2 FTR's, decide to abort.

Anti aircraft batteries open fire. The Italian and German gunners aim is quite good, aborting one bomber and reducing the other bombers factors:

The remaing CW bombers drop the bombs too early. Resendential area's are hit, but the industrial district remains unharmed:

The USSR railmoves another factory into Siberia. An INF is railed from Kiev to Timoshenko, to strengthen the defenses in place. Frontlines in the USSR are repaired, but another nice weather turn for Germany will make things very,, very bad for the USSR.

Oh, that weather could be ugly. Should be ugly for the Allies, but the Axis also need the dice to go well too.

Centuur -> RE: A musical global war AAR... (3/3/2015 2:56:47 PM)

November/December 1941, Axis impulse number 7:

Let's see how the dice are doing, then...

Germany and Japan take land actions and Italy takes a naval action.

An Italian task force leave Cadiz and Gibraltar for a raid on Allied shipping in the North Atlantic. The commander in charge of the convoy escorts, suddenly sees the Italian fleet coming out of a raincloud....

The Allied merchantmen can't match the Italian ships in speed. It's a massacre:

The Italian ships are unharmed. The Italians decide to stay for another round. The CW stays too. The search rolls means that the hunt for the merchantmen continues...
