What happened to your Khaki in Flames counter set?
warspite1

There are three counters that I want to change - the CW to Khaki, the Dutch to Orange and the Portuguese to red and Green. I am a computer numpty however and I have not yet been brave enough to attempt switching the files (or whatever you do to get them to change!). I will get around to it, but I don't want to bugger up the game accidently.

warspite1 -> RE: Bob Flemin's MWIF AARse IV - Nice AArse (7/30/2014 11:13:46 AM)

Turn: Sep/Oct 1939
Impulse: 4

The USSR claims both Eastern Poland and the Baltic States. The USA reacts by removing two chits from the US Entry Chart. The values are reduced to 6 and 2 for GE/IT and Japan respectively.

Turn: Sep/Oct 1939
Impulse: 4

In China the Kunming Militia and the anti aircraft division are out of supply. Rather than retreat, the Chinese bring the Peking and Canton militias north to bridge the supply route from Chiang. This leaves the resource northeast of Hengyang undefended and so the Chinese undertake a general shuffling of forces east....

warspite1 -> RE: Bob Flemin's MWIF AARse IV - Nice AArse (7/30/2014 11:28:07 AM)

Turn: Sep/Oct 1939
Impulse: 5

The turn ends for the Allies and its back to the Axis. The weather turns somewhat rubbish - with a mix of Storm (Arctic and North Monsoon) Rain Nth Temperate and Mediterranean) and Fine (Sth Monsoon and Sth Temperate). The Impulse will advance 2 this turn.

warspite1 -> RE: Bob Flemin's MWIF AARse IV - Nice AArse (7/30/2014 12:20:27 PM)

Turn: Sep/Oct 1939
Impulse: 5

There is no need for the Germans to Ground Strike this turn - the Poznan Army is already disorganised. The attack is not in doubt - the Germans just hope not to be disorganised so they can continue heading west once Poland is conquered (impulses permitting).

So, here goes, its a 7:1 (one column shift for the weather) but with a +1 for disorganisation. The Polish obviously choose an Assault and the result is.....

....and 8 (9). "Job done!" says Ritter von Leeb, "I fancy Christmas in Paris" he adds somewhat optimistically....

The weather puts paid to much action in China however [&:]

warspite1 -> RE: Bob Flemin's MWIF AARse IV - Nice AArse (7/30/2014 12:26:17 PM)

Turn: Sep/Oct 1939
Impulse: 7

With little or nothing left to do, the Allies now pass with all powers in an attempt to end the turn. The chances increase from 10% to a 30% chance by taking this action.

And a 1 is thrown and it works! Turn ends.

warspite1 -> RE: Bob Flemin's MWIF AARse IV - Nice AArse (7/30/2014 12:29:35 PM)

Turn: Sep/Oct 1939
Impulse: End of Turn

The Germans choose 2 offensive chits and the Russians 1 defensive for the Nazi-Soviet Pact.

A US Entry Chit is drawn...and its a 1, taking the GE/IT up to 8 (and Japan to 3).

The Commonwealth scraps all Polish units except the white print 5-3. No other units are scrapped by either side.

warspite1 -> RE: Bob Flemin's MWIF AARse IV - Nice AArse (7/30/2014 1:08:10 PM)

Turn: Nov/Dec 1939
Impulse: Initiative + Weather

The Allies win the Initiative 4 vs 3. This is not a vital turn and so the Axis do not contest the result.

The weather is rainy in the Arctic and Nth Temperate and Fine everywhere else.

composer99 -> RE: Bob Flemin's MWIF AARse IV - Nice AArse (7/30/2014 1:17:42 PM)

Did the Allies go first, or did they make the Axis go first?

The Allies will go first. Just more chance of reducing the number of impulses that the Axis get.

There is a school of thought that on a winter turn (especially before war in the Pacific), it is better to use the initiative to have your opponent go first in an attempt to move the marker in your direction. I know one very good player who will absolutely never choose to go first with either side until Sep/Oct 41, judging that to be the turn Russia breaks or stands.

I never thought of building the French MTN division counter. I like that idea a lot, I can think of numerous uses for it.

Many people find it advantageous to let the other side go first in winter, because, while this gives the other side more impulses in winter, it reduces the expected number of impulses they will get in spring and summer.

warspite1 -> RE: Bob Flemin's MWIF AARse IV - Nice AArse (8/1/2014 7:13:28 PM)

Okay guys - thanks for the feedback. The decision has been made so lets see what happens.

warspite1 -> RE: Bob Flemin's MWIF AARse IV - Nice AArse (8/1/2014 8:13:51 PM)

Turn: Nov/Dec 1939
Impulse: 1

The Home Fleet put to sea and load up with troops - just in case they get the chance to defend Holland and/or Belgium, while the French bring troops back from Algeria to defend the home country.

warspite1 -> RE: Bob Flemin's MWIF AARse IV - Nice AArse (8/1/2014 8:19:21 PM)

Turn: Nov/Dec 1939
Impulse: 1

The CW and French keep the RAF and the Armee de l'air grounded during the strategic bombing and ground strike phase. They may well be needed later in the turn....

warspite1 -> RE: Bob Flemin's MWIF AARse IV - Nice AArse (8/2/2014 6:36:13 AM)

Turn: Nov/Dec 1939
Impulse: 3

The Allied impulse draws to a close. Only other item of note was that the US continue their build-up of units in Hawaii, with a Fighter and Naval air being transported out. to Pearl.

For the Germans this impulse will be all about rushing units west to take out the Low Countries as quickly as possible - one at a time of course [;)]

warspite1 -> RE: Bob Flemin's MWIF AARse IV - Nice AArse (8/2/2014 6:51:03 AM)

Turn: Nov/Dec 1939
Impulse: 5

Interesting.... the weather throw is a 1 - Fine weather everywhere. "Merde! Iz ze Bloody Global Warming" exclaims Gamelin.

If all Allies pass there is a 10% chance of the turn ending. Gamelin feels he cannot take that risk as he needs to sort out the defence just in case the Germans make a quick breakthrough in the Low Countries....

warspite1 -> RE: Bob Flemin's MWIF AARse IV - Nice AArse (8/2/2014 7:18:40 AM)

Turn: Nov/Dec 1939
Impulse: 6

I've got to say the French look incredibly weak [&:]. The Allied turn ends and, unsurprisingly the Germans decide to declare war on the Dutch.

Reich Chancellery

Adolf Hitler: There's only two things I hate in this world. People who are intolerant of other people's cultures and the Dutch.

Hermann Goering: Mein Fuhrer, with respect, I think you will find Austin Powers has already done that line.

Adolf Hitler: Shut it fatso! I do the jokes around here.

warspite1 -> RE: Bob Flemin's MWIF AARse IV - Nice AArse (8/2/2014 7:23:13 AM)

Turn: Nov/Dec 1939
Impulse: 6

Neville Chamberlain is asked whether he wants to align the Netherlands to the Commonwealth. The answer is of course yes and the Dutch begin to set up their meagre forces which essentially consists of one Infantry Corps defending the capital and the navy in Rotterdam.
