Leningrad is done so I am moving 4th PA and 16th south to start the drive for Moscow

Peltonx -> RE: Pelton vs smokindave34 T-12 (11/24/2014 10:48:45 PM)

AGC 2nd and 3rd PG start the left hook on Moscow, infantry divisions will support the flanks and push in the center.

4th PG will do the direct assault with 6 90+ morale infantry divisions and 6 panzer division.

1st PG will do a right hook.

My basic standard assault on Moscow.

Peltonx -> RE: Pelton vs smokindave34 T-12 (11/24/2014 10:50:53 PM)

AGS will go after the 15 armament points in Rostov and try to free up AGB.

Infantry divisions simply keep marching east.

M60A3TTS -> RE: Pelton vs smokindave34 T-12 (11/24/2014 11:24:28 PM)

Dave did a fair job of defending Leningrad to this point. I only question two things, first the choice of Yushkevich with an initiative of 4 at that critical spot on the Neva. Still, it looks like you had the numbers you needed regardless. Second would be the placing of the security regiments in the north. If they had disbanded, that could have been a problem.

If you can pick up another 15 arms at Rostov or anywhere else for that matter, he will be hurting for a while.

It will be interesting to see how HQBU helps you with the battle for Moscow.

morvael -> RE: Pelton vs smokindave34 T-12 (11/25/2014 6:40:08 AM)

With the new rules I would certainly put a fort unit on the Neva hex as soon as possible to get level 3 fort. Certainly a better leader would be needed there as well. Of course against an attack of 6x90M infantry divisions that wouldn't really help, but at least this would force to mount a serious attack, no surprise attacks would be possible.

I don't thk I need HQBU for the attack no Moscow, as you can see how close RH's are. Turn 13 on will start going from near VL and the other is headed for Tula already.

I will keep 1 MoT division in north and south thrust topped off with fuel for a raid to cut rail lines if I get an opening.

The crossing assault would start with 6 infantry divisions -90 morale, then the 6+ 90 morale would assault across with panzers in RM. Next to impossible to stop as fort levels would drop. The 2nd turn would finish it off IF the first turn did not work anyways.

My new Leningrad assault set-up only requires 6 Panzer units after turn 6 and same for southern push.

Worked great vs Shermanny and smokendave, but vs Saper not as good.

All good games.

HITMAN202 -> RE: Pelton vs smokindave34 T-12 (11/26/2014 3:13:46 PM)

Pelton, I don't have a feel for the changes in German unit strength, movement, and command control versus the changes in Soviet unit strength and fort construction per 1.08, but what I see in AGC turn 12 is foreboding for smokindave.

He is an outstanding Ruskie player (and German) and to see what you're achieving by turn 12 with Leningrad in your hands is impressive.

I think WITE victory conditions need to change. A draw is VP's twix 40-141 and that is a huge range... does it means a 20 hexes spread or so east/west ??? I think some point system based on geographical conguests and military strength/losses at specific points of the game (as in the scenarios) would be best. I would oppose points rewarded based on the quality of AAR trash talking. My humility keeps me from saying who stands foremost in that category. Sillyflower would agree..

me too, two Panzerarmies unopposed in the open. A heap of ARM already kaput, LG and Tula gone, Sevastopol and Rostov in the making... now it's getting really critical.

But we need a lot more data before even considering this patch imho.

Peltonx -> RE: Pelton vs smokindave34 T-12 (11/26/2014 10:22:20 PM)

Smokendave is good as SHC, but Saper is clearly the best I see playing other then Katza.

The big difference is Saper is still managing to counter attack 3 or 4 times per turn and his over all CV levels are better.

Saper was far weaker in the south.

Most SHC players have way way to many units in the south for zero reason.

Leningrad turn 12 is really not that uber and same for Moscow.

I only lose to the best, but the real question is how are the good players doing vs other good players?

super_falco -> RE: Pelton vs smokindave34 (11/28/2014 1:36:39 PM)

Hi Pelton I follow all your games, I think you are a very good player. I still have doubts about how to use the FBDs to maximize its efficency. I usually follow this paths:

-FBD AGN: Riga-Pskov-Luga. After reach Luga I send it to connect the north line with Velikie Luki line.
-FBD AGC north: Kaunas-Vilinius-Daugavpils-Velikie Luki-Moscow.
-FBD AGC south: Brest Litovsk-Baranovichi-Mogilev-Tula.
-FBS AGS Ukraine: Lvov-Proskurov-Cherkassy-Kharkov-Kursk-Voronezh.
-FBS AGS Romania: Kishinev-Odessa-Nikolaev-Zaporozhye-Stalino-Rostov.

It´s that right?

I've always thought it better to double up the Southern 2 and the Center 2 to get the rails moving faster. Also switching as many construction Btn's to AG to assist in rail repair.

I put (and I suspect many others put) games on hold for the new patch. The whole replacement thing with units on the frontline dropping to 60% strength and staying there unless rotated out had like less than zero appeal to me. Until that is fixed we may not see that much in terms of new testing.

Saper only had 1.8 million in loses and smokendave will have less then 2 million

HQBu has been nerfed heavly and the days of 3 million + SHC loses are long gone.

Dave's loss of 90 arms looks bad. Not a "game over" situation by any stretch, but that was too much. Soviet players shouldn't let an opponent get the arms at Rostov.
