**Escape of the damaged crusiers, Jan 9-10** 2 have reached Darwin but a Jap carrier force of some description is in the Torres Strait. 2 refused to go north. One made Bundaberg and the other is making a run for the Southern Solomons. Minneapolis extinguished her fires and is ported at Sydney. None are really out of trouble.

***KB**** The KB moved Eastward toward Noumea on the 9th. We buttoned up everything we could from Noumea to NZ and sent transports away. On the 10th, the KB disappeared and there were no attacks or sightings by carrier aircraft?????
