Just looking at your air options, I would increase your "strike number" setting from 1, to 99 or higher. I use the strike number 99 for most all my air strike numbers except for air superiority which I will set to 200 or 300. This number doesn't create too much morale or fatigue each turn.

Will that not try to send more than one strike per day? I am trying to avoid that second raid that has no fighters. Maybe I have it wrong though.

marion61 -> RE: 2x4 High (2/3/2015 10:31:46 AM)

§§ STRIKE NUM: Select the link to manually set the
number of air strikes per mission per day that will
be attempted. This can be set from 0 (AUTO) to
999 in the text box displayed. If set to AUTO, then
number of air strikes will be determined by the
current intensity setting.

I think the strike number is for that air directive per day, and will send as many planes as possible on that strike for that day to try and achieve the strike number since you probably can't fly more than one mission over the target a day.

Chuske -> RE: 2x4 High (2/3/2015 11:44:48 AM)

Strike number won't affect the number of planes per strike only the number of strikes per day. To add more planes per strike up the mission pct in doctrine or increase the Req AC option in the AD advanced options.

If you want one big strike (best for strat bombing, particularly 1 hex raids) set num strikes to 1 and Req AC to 999. If you want lots of smaller strikes (good for interdiction over large area) then keep Req AC on auto and set num strikes to 999.

To prevent understrength raids you can use the Min AC setting in each AD to specify the minimum number of bombers and fighters, if numbers below these the raids won't fly.

unfortunately for the allies there is max cap on the amount of planes you can bring in a single strike. It looks like it is based on range to me. My latest bombing raid into Germany 700 bombers available, only 336 would fly.

Baelfiin -> RE: 2x4 High (2/3/2015 2:39:45 PM)

So I get lucky and get a sucker punch into danzig.

Every single bomb group less 3 low morale groups are assigned to the raid. Despite requesting 999 aircraft all that manage to fly are 336.

Flying some air superiority to max range without having to wear drop tanks.
my 120 clean p51's jump 16 109s with tanks on...

Baelfiin -> RE: 2x4 High (2/3/2015 3:00:31 PM)

Strangely the p40s in the med know how to escort a raid.
even though the raid itself didn't hit much, at least they didn't get slaughtered in job lots like their comrades in northern germany

marion61 -> RE: 2x4 High (2/3/2015 4:47:01 PM)

I'm glad you clarified that. I've been looking at that all wrong.

Baelfiin -> RE: 2x4 High (2/5/2015 1:20:04 AM)

Messed up the screenshot but lost ten VP's for U-boats. last turn even after the luck shot raid into Danzig.

This turn I go after the Ruhr and do not do too badly killing fuel sites.

Contemplating going straight into southern france instead of Italy. . . . .

Baelfiin -> RE: 2x4 High (2/5/2015 1:24:42 AM)

Lots of air blasting

Pretty much given up killing uboats, im just going to get a jumpstart on Vweps.

VP's to start the turn.

Going to get worse before it gets better [:(]

Weather going to get bad.

Things are going to get ugly[:(]

Baelfiin -> RE: 2x4 High (2/5/2015 4:33:28 PM)

Air plan for main invasion.

Too bad I missed a key component. Note to self: Double check your crap before you press f12!! [:(]

Baelfiin -> RE: 2x4 High (2/5/2015 4:41:48 PM)

Lots of blasting

I can only hope it will be effective.
Super nervous about the results.

Baelfiin -> RE: 2x4 High (2/5/2015 4:50:35 PM)

Some good numbers, but we will see what Pelton does to my sea zone.

Pretty dicey on land, I don't really know where his Kampfgruppe is going to roll in on me.

JocMeister -> RE: 2x4 High (2/5/2015 4:55:11 PM)

Impressive numbers! [&o]

Did you move anything from Northern Europe down to the Med to get those numbers?

Baelfiin -> RE: 2x4 High (2/5/2015 4:58:19 PM)

I think I need to get something done on the toe as well. . . .

Yes.

There is a lot of extra crap in England that doesn't do you any good if your invasion is stuffed in Italy.
Every single typhoon, tac bomber, all the two engine bombers. Recently lots of hIIc and Halifax for naval patrol.
Last turn every b24 that can fly.
Bad weather in the north so might as well get some use out of it.
Plus I don't think you can afford to try to get cutesy with when facing a player like Pelton. He is way too good to take chances.

Baelfiin -> RE: 2x4 High (2/6/2015 3:26:13 AM)

Italy surrenders finally as the Allies storm ashore.

Lost one beach to panzer attack, not the end of the world. Another beach holds out against two attacks. My paratroopers are worthless but maybe they get something done next turn

Baelfiin -> RE: 2x4 High (2/6/2015 6:40:29 AM)

I catch elements of Kampfgruppe Pelton in the open.

Smashing phase ensued . . . .

Baelfiin -> RE: 2x4 High (2/6/2015 6:41:42 AM)

Its probably the last attack I will be able to make before Pelton isolates my army. [:(]

JocMeister -> RE: 2x4 High (2/6/2015 8:54:37 AM)

Ouch. [:(] Well, if your landing doesnīt work with that amount of preparation no landing will work. [X(]

marion61 -> RE: 2x4 High (2/6/2015 11:20:43 AM)

Keep the beaches open and you should be okay. Just keep naval interdiction at 9 so you get supplies, and don't try and expand the beach heads till supply is good. He may gain naval parity for a few turns, but the axis can't maintain it. If you fall below 3 beaches, then your in trouble. Just hang tough and make sure you have coastal, 15th, and tac air doing naval over and around your beaches. Put up some air superiority too.

Baelfiin -> RE: 2x4 High (2/6/2015 7:10:38 PM)

End of my turn. Italian surrender gets me across the strait of messina.
Unfortunately I lose a bunch of paratroopers to a misdrop into the sea. Ooops.
Did some blasting on the panzers that I could get to, whacked some unoccupied forts.
Now just waiting for the other jackboot to drop.

marion61 -> RE: 2x4 High (2/6/2015 7:29:58 PM)

Am I still advising from Corsica? If I am, then I'd advise to stuff that invasion full of divisions, as soon as possible. If your recon is anywhere in the ball park, he looks weak, but don't attack in this weather if you don't have to, and let that supply build up before you try to break out(I use the "n" key and when my blue bar peaks above the black bar then your have excess supplies to attack with). Your there to stay, just keep that naval air going. Put those units not on the line into reserve so he doesn't rout all those para brigades and close in on your beaches.

If I'm not still advising, then disregard the above, and be content to know that there are still no paratroopers in or near Corsica!

JocMeister -> RE: 2x4 High (2/7/2015 4:55:04 AM)

Nice work. Perhaps your landing will stick! [:)]

Have you managed to keep naval interdiction up? Oh, and why are you breaking your units down to regiments? Wouldnīt that make them more vulnerable to counterattack?

Baelfiin -> RE: 2x4 High (2/7/2015 10:47:49 AM)

The para brigades were all spread out.

The other brigades in the landing zone are the ranger and commandos that pop out from the amphib hqs when they invade.

Ah, Iīve seen Pelton break down divisions so I thought this was a common strategy (that I donīt understand) when I saw your screen. [:)]

Baelfiin -> RE: 2x4 High (2/7/2015 6:47:14 PM)

Well ladies this one is over.

Pelton has the beach head cut off in the heavy rain. I have maybe one trick left. Nice job Pelton =p

Weather changes on WA turn, so it could be different type of weather during Axis air execution.
