The Japanese are helping protect the USA against the German aggressors, now that the USA is at war with Germany.

Or is it just another misunderstanding amongst friends ?

cpdeyoung -> RE: GD1938 Game 19 (8/5/2015 10:01:29 PM)

With the German declaration of war the Swedish people called upon their friends in the United States, and promptly coordinated all military affairs.

No attack on any Swedish or American assets followed. There was anti-supply activity noted of 79 points. This was not enough to count as bloodshed, and so the United States offered peace to the German state. The American people are ready for war the offer will be withdrawn if not accepted. If Germany wants the offered peace they should accept it first thing. No attacks or bloodshed will be accepted and the United States will prosecute war against Germany if attacked.

The Swedish incident will result in a major war unless the Germans step back from the brink.

I played my France/ UK turns and saved for USA. I placed in Game 19 folder. While playing a different game I was given a message about dropbox that said the USA game 19 had been deleted??? Very unusual...never happened before. Does anyone know what happened? Luckily I save all turns on my computer for 3 or 4 turns, so I can place a copy back in the folder. I'll wait until I get a response to see what might of happened.

Twotribes -> RE: GD1938 Game 19 (8/9/2015 3:06:54 AM)

The next player must have taken it out. I just open it in drop box but some people remove the entire file.

cpdeyoung -> RE: GD1938 Game 19 (8/9/2015 6:29:46 AM)

I have started to remove the file and I do not put it in "Old Turns". I finished my turn and put the German turn36 up there for the German player. This makes Dropbox as resource efficient as email. I have ten folders in Dropbox now and do not want to buy more storage.

The United States intends to try and help the Scandinavians, but is not interested in a large war with Germany. The German grab of Sweden and attack on Denmark have united the Danes, Swedes, and Norwegians. The USA will try and make the Germans leave the area. If Germany abandons its conquests there the conflict can end.

baloo7777 -> RE: GD1938 Game 19 (8/9/2015 2:12:20 PM)

Oh, sorry for jumping the gun on that and thanks for the quick responses!

The UK and France would like to encourage both sides in the Scandinavian conflict to commit to a peaceful settlement of their differences on the matter. Perhaps it could be brought before some kind of newly formed court of the world? [:D]

Jeffrey H. -> RE: GD1938 Game 19 (8/14/2015 6:42:36 PM)

Although a state of War still exists between Germany and the USA, there seems to be no active battles taking place. This would suggest more of a cold war extension of diplomacy than anything really intentional.

cpdeyoung -> RE: GD1938 Game 19 (8/16/2015 12:56:58 PM)

The United States would gladly make peace with Germany if they withdraw from Scandinavian territory they have captured. The Swedes and Danes do not want war, but they do not want German occupation either.

The Admiralty:
Air search and rescue is beginning from Belfast. Survivors will be picked up if found...the North Atlantic can be treacherous...and returned to their homeland. The UK regrets the loss of life on both sides of this conflict.

Current turn in Dropbox says Italy when I opened it, the turn was German. Can't play German turns I don't have the password.[:)]

Jeffrey H. -> RE: GD1938 Game 19 (8/18/2015 6:04:14 PM)

Japan passes another turn, this time with the welcome of Argentina into our co-prosperity sphere. Japanese subs patrol the Atlantic in support of the USA and take a trip down the Eastern US coastline. Boy, I can tell you, the Germans are in trouble.

cpdeyoung -> RE: GD1938 Game 19 (8/21/2015 12:07:38 PM)

The United States Navy continues to engage the Kriegsmarine sinking seven U-boats and three heavy cruisers.

The United States reinforced the defenders of Scandinavia, It is the belief of the USA that Great Britain, France, Italy and the USSR can bring peace with honor to Europe by simply declaring war on Germany until she removes all units from Denmark and Sweden. Once multi-party protection for Scandinavia is established the United States will remove all non-"Eur" troops from Scandinavia, and the Europeans can police the area themselves. Europe itself can make sure Germany keeps the agreement. Knowing that attacking her neighbors will bring instant, bloody war upon them will dissuade the Germans.

Italy has been concerned that the USA will wage aggressive war against Germany from these bases. Withdrawal from Scandinavia should calm those concerns.

Europe, awake to your responsibility. Declare war on the aggressor among you. Use collective action to enforce peace.

FDR

cpdeyoung -> RE: GD1938 Game 19 (8/24/2015 9:29:52 AM)

Is the continuing German aggression in Scandinavia worth the losses necessary to take her?

Since no Europeans have risen to defend Scandinavia the United States will continue to battle there. We will fight to protect the supply lanes, and will send forces to contest the Germans.

European participation would have been preferable, but we are not going to abandon Scandinavia.

FDR

ironduke1955 -> RE: GD1938 Game 19 (8/24/2015 2:30:07 PM)

Italy has suggested a peace treaty between the USA and Germany, leading to a alliance allowing for the redrawing of current front lines. All lands in Norway and Sweden are to be returned to the USA, they have no Political or Resource value. The borders in Denmark remain as they are, with the Germans having the security of a river crossing. Again no cities or resources will have been lost or gained.

The party who refutes the above reasonable terms will be exposed as having a different agenda, and seeking to start a European war for their own national or other third parties national interests. Italy commends the US and their desire to keep the peoples of Norway and Sweden safe (its a shame that this desire does not extend to Finland) but allowing a War with Germany redefines the definition of the word safe. And the argument that Germany is the aggressor does not hold up to scrutiny as the US must have been aware of the consequences of placing itself and its military forces on the border with Germany would bring tensions between the powers as Denmark is clearly within the German sphere of influence. Germany is not the bully boy of Europe as portrayed its defeat at the hands of the western allies has exposed its current weakness, a weakness some nations seem all to eager to exploit.

baloo7777 -> RE: GD1938 Game 19 (8/24/2015 11:46:03 PM)

The Franco-English Alliance is fully ready to support the Peace Plan put forth by the Italians. We note that the Italians have nothing to gain by the plan except as it brings peace to a region that has already experienced the ravages of war. The Italians have proven they are a peaceful nation by their actions in allowing the fleeing Czechs to traverse their sovereign territory to refugee camps in southwestern France. We call for the US and Germany to accept this very reasonable Peace Plan.

cpdeyoung -> RE: GD1938 Game 19 (8/30/2015 5:07:33 AM)

The United States, and the Scandinavians, have communicated to the Germans that they accept the plan.

cpdeyoung -> RE: GD1938 Game 19 (8/30/2015 5:12:56 AM)

For those who are not as familiar with GD1938 diplomacy let me explain that if peace were to happen before the Germans withdrew there would be no easy way for the Scandinavians to retake their land. Using a ceasefire and withdrawal-advance is superior.

The USA guarantees that peace will be offered when the Norweigan and Swedish territories are made whole.

FDR

cpdeyoung -> RE: GD1938 Game 19 (9/7/2015 3:20:23 PM)

The Germans and Americans had no battles this month and the peace plan is in effect.

The United States is withdrawing non-Euro troops from Scandinavia and our fleets are sailing west.

There is discussion of the USSR declaring war on Italy. The United States is certain this move would cause havoc. Perhaps the USSR covets the Balkan territory that Italy administers. An attack in this cause would be naked aggression, fueled by Soviet desire to fulfill war aims they alone know. It would emphatically not be in the interest of any nation to aid this grab. The Soviet Union is greedy, and no other nation could gain anything from poison pills the Soviets offer. If Stalin initiates war with Italy all nations should make clear the Red Army will face a world aware of their selfish aims.

Nations with opinions to share should use this forum to make their views known.

F. D. Roosevelt

baloo7777 -> RE: GD1938 Game 19 (9/7/2015 4:03:22 PM)

The Soviets sent a terse missive from the hand of Stalin himself to the Franco-English alliance. The Italians have been told that unless they remove troops that are guarding their mutual border with the Soviets, it will mean war. The message also stated, that due to our alliance with Italy, we would be considered to be at war with them also. Likely their Japanese allies would enter the fray. They have offered Germany an alliance. Can the world stand by and watch the sovereignty of Italy swallowed up by a Russian-Japanese-German axis? We will support our ally Italy, who has demonstrated to be a peace loving people, as we must, and will not let the free world be destroyed.

Jeffrey H. -> RE: GD1938 Game 19 (9/8/2015 6:52:22 PM)

Japan will not be dragged into a war via alliances. We will seek to extract ourselves from any such event.

ironduke1955 -> RE: GD1938 Game 19 (9/9/2015 12:40:07 PM)

The Italians have received the Soviet demands by formal diplomatic channels, we are flattered that the Soviet Union feels threatened by Italy. Again the logic that the Italian forces on the Soviet Romanian border are anything other than a counter balance to the mighty forces of the Soviet Union, is deeply flawed and possibly disingenuous. Either way Italy will not be ordered about by Stalin. And if he wishes to launch a war of aggression on Italy and her allies in the Balkans, he may find that bully tactics do not always turn out well for the bully.

Spain may soon be joining the Italian Federation its leaders have decided that the benefits of a stable trading and political Union of southern European trading parties, it is hoped that the Major European powers England Germany and France will while keeping politically separate, may join a loose trading market.

Still a few Germans in Scandinavia, so peace there will wait for a bit.

The Franco-British Alliance wishes to commend both the USA and Germany on their recent peaceful conclusion of the unfortunate war in Scandinavia. The best hope of the Scandinavian people for their future has been realized.

Germany has taken the decision to invade the Soviet Union. Operation Barborossa is on. All bets are off. No sleep till Moscow!

cpdeyoung -> RE: GD1938 Game 19 (9/20/2015 4:47:00 AM)

Holy Cow! (an old fashioned way to say OMG).

The United States did not see that one coming. This is one of the most interesting conflicts we have seen. A thrill a minute!

Italy [X(][X(] blindsided by this move, after just avoiding one major war in Europe we have the flames of war burst into life near the slopes of the Carpathians, so what now Germany is not a Italian ally, in fact Germany has no allies. Italy can only strongly protest this act of aggression, that risks other nations and exposes them to the ravages of war.

falco148 -> RE: GD1938 Game 19 (9/21/2015 4:20:09 AM)

From the very beginning it was always the Fuhrer's intention to assimilate the Far East into a Greater Germany. He made his intentions very clear to the French & British after the ceasefire in the West. The Third Reich must have 'lebensraum' that will free our Germanic people from their present, restricted living space to new land and soil.
