there was some speculation the level dropped 8 feet but that was unfounded. The most we had was a water main break suspect was the earthquake. It was a 4.8 80 miles north of LV

Here, Casinos have interesting things for people to see.

The Casino you are talking about is Asian themed. Chinese love their Panda Bears. Its an attraction to bring in Chinese. It will give the Casino an Asian feel.

The Mirage Casinohas dolphins. And when you check in at the front desk you are looking at a large fish tank(Maybe 2000 gallons of water) Full of exotic fish from the ocean.

The MGM Casino, up till 2years ago. Had a Lion incased in large glass house. People inside the Casino could walk up to and admire the Lion. Why a lion? The movie picture company of MGM has the Lion roar before the start of their pictures.

The Mandalay Bay Casino has an Aquarium in which you can walk through a glass tunnel watching sharks swim above you.

The Flamingo Casino has (you guessed it!) pink Flamingo's

Most expensive meals in Las Vegas

Both Joël Robuchon Restaurant, in the MGM Grand, and Restaurant Guy Savoy offer two of the most expensive meals in Las Vegas — a city known for excess, in case you forgot

Joël Robuchon- has a meal for $445.00 per person. A 19 course meal not including wine.

Guy Savoy - offers a 16 course meal for $375.00 per person.

So What is the news this hot summer!

Vegas is still in the hunt for a professional Hockey team. With the completion of the MGM 20,000 seat Stadium it may be a reality. There was hopes for a pro basketball team but that's just a fantasy.

1. We now have 2 planned casinos Alon (2 billion dollars project) by 2016 . World Resorts by 2018 (4 billion dollar project)

2. MGM resorts is going to construct a 5000 seat theater at the Monte Carlo Casino and do an update of that casino.

3. Las Vegas has been re-doing the Strip, adding outdoor seating areas for restaurants. With the good weather here most of the year that's a great addition.

Here's a look at MGM's proposed outdoor area:

What about water. The project for putting a pump closer to the bottom of Lake Mead is coming to a conclusion.

Interesting, thing, the water supply to Las Vegas will be stable for years to come. And this is not only because of the new pump. but mountain run-off and water storage makes it possible for the city to still grow another 1,000,000 inhabitants. As well as, allowing the continued 42 million visitors a year to come here without concern for a water shortage. So water features at the Casinos. will be full of water.

Wow. Obvious question - when would that ever be even remotely full. I mean I guess quality blockbusters like Pearl Harbor would have filled it, but as a general rule??

Also 5,000 people at a cinema? I can't imagine the noise - its bad enough with small cinemas with selfish b$%^&&*s who can't turn their mobiles of for an hour or two and/or those who think their conversations are soooo important that everyone would rather hear them than the film [:@]

Anyway, rant over and that aside that is interesting stuff. Especially about the water supply.

I think you may have another understanding of theater, in this case, Warspite1. Theater should be understood as a location for live shows. For example many shows at casinos have what they call residencies. That means they have shows in certain theaters in Casinos for extended period of time. For example: Britney Spears has a residency at Ceasers Palace. I think she has a contract for 2 years. Jabbawockeez at the Luxor. Blue Man Group has a residency at the Monte Carlo. This group has been a regular for many years in Vegas.
This new theater would take in acts who have maybe 2 or 3 shows in a weeks time.

This is how they explain it:
“This new theater will enable us to host performers in Las Vegas who we previously haven’t had a home for, broadening our entertainment offerings and providing the opportunity to expand those relationships to our properties around the globe,” said Bill Hornbuckle, president of MGM Resorts International.

But to tell you the truth, It amazes me how many locations Las Vegas has for live shows. And they find Acts to fill them. I mean every Casino has 1 or 2 locations live acts.
I've been to quite a few shows myself. Rodeo and Bull Riding, at(the Mandalay Bay), Cirque du Soleil ((at the Bellagio), Blue Man Group, David Copperfield(at the MGM).

Here is just a small sample of Shows this month. This does not count the regular shows.

July 2015
Now - 7/25 Olivia Newton-John
Now - 7/26 Boyz II Men
Now - 7/26 Mariah Carey
Now - 8/31 For The Record: BAZ
7/14 - 7/30 Rich Little
7/17 - 7/18 Ron White
7/17 - 7/19 Andrew Dice Clay
7/18 Barenaked Ladies
7/18 - 7/19 Don McLean and Judy Collins
7/24 David Alan Grier and Tommy Davidson
7/25 Steve Miller Band
7/31 Rod Stewart

Its really hard to get ones head around all the activity going on here.

Actual movie theaters, we have many as well. Three Casinos have movie theaters and Bowling alleys in them. As well each area of Las Vegas has cinemas. We even have a Drive in Theater(watch the movie from your car.)

That looks like New York, New York to me.

Regardless, just think how many hookers they can fit into there. [8D]

Zap -> RE: Las Vegas as it grows. (7/18/2015 12:56:28 AM)

The other side in the picture is the Monte Carlo an MGM property. In the middle towards the back of the walkway is the 20,000 seat, almost completed MGM stadium venture. Lucky for the New York New York not having to invest a penny and they get to reap the rewards just because they are there.

Anybody a fan of David Cassidy of the Brady bunch.

He has suffered from Alcoholism for years. Just lost a second house to Bankruptcy. He is still struggling.

While performing at the South Point Casino he lost it. He was telling fans to shut up and blaming them for his troubles because they had complained to the management of the Casino.

What was it that caused the problem? Cassidy was forgetting the words of his songs. He would stop and then start again. He did not remember which songs he was supposed to sing. The band had to tell him which song was next. People were really frustrated with him in one show that 42 people walked out during his performance. Hope he gets some help.

Okay another event in Vegas in September. But it really makes me just want to puke. Mayweather fighting Berto. This fight will draw little interest. And is already drawing a lot of criticism.

Oh I forgot to mention another thing las Vegas is famous for. Putting OJ Simpson in jail. He has a 9 to 23 year sentence for robbery. He just lost an appeal for re-trail. So looks like he will have to fulfill his sentence in a Nevada Prison.

I'm sure you heard the TV Cassidy's "I think I love you" David was the lead vocalist for this song. You never watched the Partridge family on Television. Might be before your time Orm. It was a 70's Television program.

I can not remember ever listening to "I think I love you" but I suspect that I heard it back then.

Sweden only had two state controlled television channels until '91. Some years before that you were able to get broadcast from abroad by satellite. And in the seventies the Swedish TV did not like to broadcast shows from USA. [:(]

So does that mean there were NO American imports or just a few? If the latter what were you able to watch? I am thinking of the likes of:

The Waltons, The Little House on the Prairie, Star Trek, assorted Disney "Stuff", Happy Days, Kojak, Streets of San Francisco, Charlie's Angels, and later stuff like Dallas - so much from the US we watched as kids and teens!!

Just a few. More for the older and less for the young. Definitely no Disney except on Christmas Eve when there was one hour of Disney that almost the entire population watched. They tried to remove that 1 hour Disney but that got so many objections that I almost suspect there would have been a revolution if they had pushed it through.

Star Trek, The Little House on the Prairie some other Western Series. Kojak was on TV as well. Some mini series as well. The 80's brought Dallas and more productions from US.

How the West Was Won was popular in Sweden. And so was Roots.

Another famous but now older Las Vegas performer Wayne Newton has opened his ranch up to the public.

Shenandoah Ranch is now a Museum. The wife and I are going to make the visit. He still lives there.

Its a 70 Million dollar estate he has many animals. Included is a collection Arabian horses.

Things to see

Rolls-Royces, previously owned by Johnny Cash, Steve McQueen, Liberace and Harrah’s founder Bill Harrah

• A gold microphone Frank Sinatra gave to Newton

• The letter Elvis wrote from the Las Vegas Hilton that sparked the Newton song, “The Letter”

• Jack Benny’s Stradivarius (Newton worked with Benny for years.)

• The canoe navigated by Katharine Hepburn and Henry Fonda in “On Golden Pond”

• A collection of Newton’s stage costumes, including a faded purple, western costume made by Newton’s mother, Evelyn Marie, when Newton was just 4 years old.

• Newton’s Fokker F28 jet

• A desk that belonged to Franklin Roosevelt

• Military mementos and jackets from Newton’s service overseas as the USO’s Celebrity Circle chairman

The next time you come to Vegas you may find casinos looking more like game arcades. Casinos are turning to skill based slots. It seems the youth don't find the slot machines as much fun. So to attract them there will be skill games. So the better you are the more money you can win. Funny, they will loose a ton of money before they get to a level where they can win.
I noticed arcade type war themed slots planned.

Hey, Orm Its political season and now Las Vegas is all excited that the Democrats have decided to have the debate at the Wynn casino. One goal of Las Vegas is have the world view LV as a location where other things besides gaming goes on. That's why there is a push for a professional hockey team. The new stadium makes it a possibility.

And for baseball fans. Particularly if you are a Cincinnati Reds fan. Pete Rose opens his restaurant on the Strip today.

This post is more for the State of Nevada. Its population is 2,750,000. Its is the second least populated state in the Union. Only Alaska has less of a population.
Of that population most live in 5 cities. Las Vegas and surrounding cities (2,119,000) Carson City(52,000) Reno(225,000).

Nevada produces more gold than any other State 4th largest producer in the world.

Nevada is ranked 35th in population:

Even if you meant population density it's still 42nd:
