Thanks GA.

His PTs have been devastating (see Oct 26) and I have finally gotten them pushed back.

Not sure what you mean by a "dozen AKEs in Taihoku = daily rundowns."

My Nicks have been hitting his PTs lately. I want to try some other type a/c on this also but so far I have my airfields jammed with fighters and no room to try anything else. Anybody had any luck with anything else?

We withstood the attack at Karenko. I have an ID unloading there and an engineer unit heading in.

I now have two George units and one Jack unit at Hengchun with full AV support.

Nick should be your best choice. Pilot skill is the key, you need high strafe/low level naval bombing skills for these guys.

Large AKEs can reload anything up to and incuding BBs from any type of port. Given short distances (yay, low fuel expenditures too) you can base your bombardments out of Taihoku and hit all the US bases on Formosa. It does not look like large Navy ships have more important missions currently.

If the movement arrows are to be believed, it appears Rio has twigged my trap at Hungchun. I will start moving from there toward Takao.

FORMOSA Nov 7, 1943 Turn 701

We kicked him out of Karenko and the Allied unit there has made it all the way to the hex NE of Hungchun. He now has three units in that hex so it looks like he is moving back to Takao. I was hopping to be able to beat-up his units before they did this.

It has been a slow process, loading, un-loading, adjusting TFs. I presently have two IDs at Taichu, two out of Karenko and one moving out of Hungchun. I still have two more to load and move along with more Arty, some Armor and AA.

Rio got beat-up in the air again recently and has left me alone for awhile. As a result I have 214 Georges, Jacks, and Tonys ready, three not ready, on Formosa alone, and more surrounding. We have a love/hate relation with Georges. I love them, Rio hates them.

An ID arrived in the hex NE of Hungchun. There are four Allied units there. I have an ID out of Hungchun due next turn and two more on the way from Karenko. All action on my part will wait until all four are in that hex along with some support, about ten days.

The hex NE of Hengchun now has six Allied units there. I have 1650 AV there. I am waiting for one more ID, the one moving that is three hexes NE, and two tank units. It is taking the tanks forever to unload at Karenko.

I have two more IDs on the water and more support inbound.

Thanks. I have one Nav HQ on the seas, but you are right. I will fly a closer one in an replace it with the floating HQ

I have an Armor Div inbound and that will surly help.

This is important misconception. In fact forts will be indestructible (and individual to each unit) if you give them time to build. One of the important things for China defence is to build sizeable forts in the wilderness by keeping troops stationary for months.
On the other hand, if you capture all the bases, his supply in the wilderness will run out very fast because LCUs store imited amount on them

Thanks GA. I understand what you are saying and please forgive me for my abbreviated AAR.

What I mean is that, I would rather fight him there, even if he has forts one or two, rather than fight him in Takao where I am sure he must have forts three or better by now.

Part of my plan was to stall as long as I needed to get enough in that hex to really pound him. As you can see below, the element of surprise (as to how much I have there) is now gone. I can now DA or wait longer for more troops but I think either way he will now retreat back to Takao. I will DA him next turn and hopefully if he retreats, it will be in a diminished state.

FORMOSA Nov 23, 1943 Turn 717

An ID just unloaded at Karenko and will head south. My other ID on the seas will unload at Taihoku as well as the Armor Div. I am flying the Nav HQ into Taihoku rather than Karenko as the Tank Div will have priority.

It appears that Rio is moving more units out of Kagi to Taichu which I like. The further away from Takao the better.

Rio made a mistake here. His old eyes did not see the river on the map and mistakenly shock attacked. This will set him back, but not long. I was in the perfect position to counter attack except for one big factor, I have no supply.

Ironically, is is because of the difficulty in keeping Paoshan supplied, and the fact that I am being surrounded, I am in the process of abandoning Paoshan.

The first Frank R unit will deploy in about four days.

About once a week Rio makes a massive air attack on Formosa. I have lots of Georges there. Here is this turn's results.

Advice needed.

What is the best way for me to attack Kagi form Taichu? There is a river crossing and I want as few of my forces possible devastated in the Shock Attack. I have 2K AV at Taichu and will have another 1K in about a week. I anticipate Rio having about 1K at Kagi.

What is your DL on it? That report looks suspiciously light on guns and AFVs for that many Allied units.

Your best bet is coordinated heavy shore bombardment and aerial bombardment if in fact the guns are so few there with a river crossing and at least 25+ prep. Make sure to have three levels of HQ prepping and within range too.

Can you give me your definition of command HQ? This has always confused me. In my Ground Unit drop down, all of the Command HQ are static restricted.

Southern Army, 5th Fleet amoung others are unrestricted Command HQ's. China army is restricted, but doesn't matter if you get it to HK, it will be within range of Formosa.

When you open up the unit detail, the HQ is described as COMMAND HQ ....
