TheWombat_matrixforum -> RE: The Cool Screenshot Thread (7/8/2015 6:00:59 PM)

So this is, finally, the old Campaign Series Middle East game getting revamped and I assume runnable on modern machines? My copy has been sitting here forever, unused, because it won't work on modern PCs/OSs. Depending on pricing, this should be interesting.

berto -> RE: The Cool Screenshot Thread (7/8/2015 6:19:03 PM)

Not exactly a revamp (of Divided Ground), rather, a brand new game, based off the JTCS engine, and runnable on modern machines. Lots of cool new features, too, and still more planned in future! [:)]

If I can have this screen for game play, I'm in.

berto -> RE: The Cool Screenshot Thread (7/8/2015 6:29:22 PM)

You can have it, and more!

Jason Petho -> RE: The Cool Screenshot Thread (7/8/2015 6:29:49 PM)

Divided Ground was scrapped. We found it didn't meet our standards, so while the theme is the same, it is actually a brand new game. Not a revamp.

In fact, since this is a platoon sized game, the variety in NATO symbols is pretty impressive. Some 420 individual symbols as it stands at the moment.

All Terrain Wheeled Self Propelled Heavy Artillery? Yep. Amphibious Cross Country Armored SAM Vehicle? Check [:)]

zakblood -> RE: The Cool Screenshot Thread (7/8/2015 7:18:07 PM)

good to hear

Wolfe1759 -> RE: The Cool Screenshot Thread (7/8/2015 9:37:01 PM)

This looked interesting.

Then I saw the screenshots and I must admit I've totally lost interest.

I know as a wargamer I shouldn't want flashy graphics and slick UIs, but I do want something better (particularly in the UI department) than what was just about acceptable ten or more years ago.

New, Large Toolbar (in addition to None, Small & Standard Toolbars):

Dozens and dozens of hot keys, nearly every game function hot keyed, all of them documented in-game in tooltips, Status Bar, menus, etc.

Can you go into detail what you are specifically looking for in a UI?

And also how this UI doesn't function for you?

Will helicopters occupy the full hex and prevent enemy ground units from entering or will they sit "above" the hex like air units in Panzer Corps do?

Jason Petho -> RE: The Cool Screenshot Thread (7/9/2015 3:16:11 AM)

Not only can they sit above, but there are four air zones they can operate in.

Well, even better! Looking forward to it.

Duck Doc -> RE: The Cool Screenshot Thread (7/9/2015 6:46:48 PM)

Thanks for the effort to resurrect this classic and add to it. It was a favorite game of mine back in the day. Looking forward to it. The UI is just fine. If it ain't broke, don't fix it. Had many happy hours with the original and looking forward to many more with this one.
