Airborne Rifles -> RE: Northern Fury (10/1/2016 9:20:25 PM)

Hey all, after a long work-induce hiatus, here's the next write-up: NF 9.2 Changing of the Guard

Enjoy! And thanks for reading.

Bert Blitzkrieg -> RE: Northern Fury (10/18/2016 10:05:01 AM)

And now I've read all the AAR's and have to wait for the conclusion of 9.2... This is tough!

Airborne Rifles -> RE: Northern Fury (10/18/2016 10:51:57 AM)

Thanks Bert, glad you're enjoying it! You should check out the scenarios [;)]. I hope to have the rest of 9.2 done in the next couple days.

I'm enjoying Gunner's Northern Fury set too (I'm struggling with 9.5 at the moment), and both his scenarios and your AARs are absolutely excellent!

ultradave -> RE: Northern Fury (10/21/2016 10:08:17 PM)

I also just started 9.5 Really enjoying the "atmosphere" of the series.

I will. Eventually. Just finished my first scenario but, as a novice, still playing simple scenario's with not to many units. So, Northern Fury has to wait a little longer.

Do I understand correctly that you manually change the depth on which the torpedo's are running or is that just for the story? And, if yes, it is actually a game feature that it makes the torpedo's harder to detect if they're running above or under the thermo-layer?

Yes. You can manually control the depth of your torpedoes, and sonar detection range is indeed affected by the thermocline, among a lot of factors.

I thought I should resurrect this thread from a few years ago. We're getting a lot of questions about the scenarios, and there is no better AAR on it in my opinion than Joel's series back in 2015/16.

When I was reading through these AARs the collaboration between the two of us occurred to me. A novel was always an asperation but when I saw how Joel could write, I knew he could do a much better job of it then this old gunner.

Post number 1 in this tread has the link to all the Grogheads AARs Joel did.

Gunner98 -> RE: Northern Fury (4/2/2021 1:23:00 PM)

Just looked and it's been about a year since I resurrected this thread and we are talking about related stuff here, so I'll bump it again.

If you go to the fist post in this thread it will link you to some fantastic AARs Joel did [gulp] 5 years ago. Some of you know that his writing grabbed my attention and this was the start of our collaboration for the Northern Fury book(s)
