Baring extreme weather and extremely short turns, The russians will not be able to keep so many troops east with the germans already pouring over the Dniepr. I think the japanese can eventually take back all of Manchuria plus the 3 closest resources in Siberia.

Even if the USSR begins to bug out of Manchuria, they do not have the rail to make it worth it. USSR will need to rail factories as a first priority, and railing units to/from Siberia is a chore. I don't think the Soviet units in Manchuria are going anywhere.

Germany: Why is the motorized AA in Belgium?

USSR: I guess the 85mm is essentially dead anyway?

The factory is railed from Kursk to Baku.

The retreat in Russia continues. Mao and accompanying Inf liberate Chengchow. The Nationalists stay put for now. Ugandan Terr captures Mogadishu. Wavell moves up and attacks in Libya.

It was left behind to protect those 2 factories from bombers. Though almost all CW bombers have been moved to Africa. There are some other units in France also waiting to be railed east.

Funny thing: I have been thinking 2 turns to rebase few hexes my FTR in France to protect Paris also, but there have always been "more important things" to do. Last impulse I even rebased Ju52, for what? If I recall correctly, I can rebase Ju52 AND use it for air reorganization same impulse (costing 2 air moves). I deserve losing that PP in Paris.

Having internet connection issues so update by mobile and no pictures.

Edit: changed my mind. USSR was planning a desperate counter-attack involving that hex with the Stuka but it was just too long odds.

Whirlwind rebases to Gort. USSR rebases 2 Lnd into Manchuria.

No reorganise.

Weather stays the same on an 8.

USSR: After I saw that you did the ground strike I noticed what was under there and thought the same thing. I'm not sure much can make it out of that pocket and think I might have been tempted if the corp was flipped as well (+4?).

Germany: With the limited forces Germany has (and USSR), I think I would forget about protecting my factories until next year and use everything vs USSR.

I have been railing maximum amount of units every impulse since M/A after Vichy was declared. Now in J/A I have not railed every impulse (In France I still have AA gun, AT gun, artillery, MIL and possibly INF I'm planning to rail east) because I have been waiting to be able to rail them farther to east so that they are in front line when S/O begins. I hope I get at least two more impulses before turn ends.

Now when I really think this I should have railed something to Odessa, it is not that far... Also I had an opportunity to rail one div to Kiev last impulse but I didn't do it. That was a mistake.

I have used all my air actions for many turns. I decided to leave two decent fighters (and two old ones) to cover factories in western Europe because it would take so many impulses to move one of them to front line in east. I rather build new ones and rebase them from Königsberg. I think planes can be railed only if I choose air instead of land and I can't do that.

Edit: USSR is annoying and they retread so fast I have trouble keeping my 3 range planes in front line... I think I should call this positive problem. But I have read that Germany should be killing units, not only take land. I have a target to kill more BP's than USSR can produce. I hope I hit my target.

So far USSR has lost 22 BP's and Germany has lost 14 BP's + O-Chit. At this moment USSR is producing 22 BP's. I hope I can kill more units with low losses in German side and take as many factories as possible before they are railed to safe.

Why was the attack in Libya an assault? It should have been CW choice, (HQ-ARM vs MECH) and an assault risked a loss (on a four), or having a unit flipped (2-4), while a blitz was completely safe. Since no retreat was possible for the defending units, they would die on any roll whichever was picked.

It was CW choice. I hadn't realised the Italian units wouldn't be able to retreat.

Even without the Mtn flipped I gave it quite some thought. The problem was additional air support that could have taken the odds to 5:6 or 5:8. Best I was looking at would be about +1. The odds of 1 of the 2 attacking units surviving to take the hex were slim. Had it worked Rundstedt would have been disorganised and OOS for something like a +10 attack but not working was about +2.

Although the units are most likely dead anyway, throwing them away for likely no gain didn't seem right. At the moment they are still in the fight and delaying the advance.

Germany and Italy land, Japan combined.

Japanese AMPH sails to China Sea and picks up Osaka MIL from China. CA loaded with MAR div sails from Canton to Truk.

2 ground strikes.

First one goes much better than I ever hoped for. Ju88 fly extended range (ground factor 2) and rolls 1 and 1! I was laughing when I saw the result, I bet USSR is crying...

Air units can be rail moved on a Combined Impulse.

I always thought the Mongolian CAV unit should say "KHAN" on it, then you can cue up all the Capt. Kirk quotes. I particularly enjoy seeing it raid NE China, the Middle East, or eastern Europe. Sometimes it builds New Mongolia in the Pripets, backed up by night re-supply missions from the TB-3s while it waits for the snow to fall...

Yes Brian! That is what I like to do as well!...although not with the Mongolian CAV. Also, I like to do it with the Japs when they are at war with USSR...northern China/Mongolia towards the USSR factories and resources.

I just noticed a nice feature...when a blue factory is moved, it becomes a blank rectangle (without the factory inside the rectangle).

What are the USSR re-inforcements coming in this next turn (S/O'40)?
