Turn 19. Sep/Oct 1942. Allied #3. German U-boats. Bay of Biscay. Round 1.

The German u-boat unit uses all its surprise points to increase damage against the CW CPs, this sacrificing itself to maximize CPs sunk and aborted.

Turn 19. Sep/Oct 1942. Allied #3. German U-boats. Bay of Biscay. Round 2.

The remaining two German u-boat units both stay (of course) and continue to press the battle. However, this round goes to the RN as they manage to abort 1 unit without loss.

The battle ends after the second round when both sides fail to find the other.

However, the damage was done with the CW losing 4 CPs and seeing another 2 CPs in that area forced to abort. That's 6 CPs that the CW and/or the USA need to replace before the end of the turn in the Bay of Biscay.

Turn 19. Sep/Oct 1942. Allied #3. Western Allies. RN, USN. West Med.

In the West Med, a lone Vichy CP at sea there pays the price and is sunk by USN carrier air. This gives sole control of the West Med to the Western Allies.

Off the Italian Coast, the RN and USN successfully find, surprise and isolate 4 Italian heavy cruisers on patrol there in the 4 box.

Turn 19. Sep/Oct 1942. Allied #3. RN, USN. Italian Coast. Naval Battle. Round 3.

The Italians are able to put a stop to this naval battle and ensure that supplies to their armies in Egypt and the Middle East will continue to flow through the Italian Coast.

Turn 19. Sep/Oct 1942. Allied #3. RN. East Med.

Monty and the British 8th army are put out to sea in the East Med. Following my golden rule even though the numbers are heavily in favor of the RN, they decide not to initiate a naval combat to avoid risk to the troops at sea.

The Italians and Vichy forces in turn decide not to risk loss of supply to their forces in Egypt and the Middle East and too decide not to initiate a naval combat.

Turn 19. Sep/Oct 1942. Allied #3. CW. East Med.

Interesting game reality ... Libya is controlled by the CW and Egypt, the Suez Canal and the Middle East are controlled by the Italians.

Turn 19. Sep/Oct 1942. Allied #3. USN. China Sea.

With Japanese land and carrier based aircraft grounded by storms in the China Sea, the USN decide it was a good time for the subs to go hunting for Japanese convoys. The chance was low and the USN failed to find them.

Turn 19. Sep/Oct 1942. Allied #3. USN. Bismarck Sea. New Guinea.

MacArthur's command is transferred from Hawaii to the front lines in the Territory of New Guinea in the Bismarck Sea. The USN put the "Big E" with a single cruiser on patrol to keep MacArthur and his forces in supply. Two new USN carriers and modern battleships were rushed to Siapan as reserves for the "Big E". Also, the USN has a carrier in Midway and three in Hawaii, along with escorts, ready to rush in if, or when, the IJN responds.

The USA strategy for the Pacific is to have MacArthur to push from the south and Nimitz from the north.

Centuur -> RE: Global War AAR in Pictures (5/4/2016 2:32:49 PM)

Stalin just opened a big bottle of Vodka...

By the way: build three FTR's this turn and four FTR's in N/D and J/F by the Soviets. It's time for the Germans to lose there air superiority at the Ostfront. Also: if the weather turns to snow, start looking at making low odds attacks using winterized USSR units, with cheap non winterized unit as loss takers. Bleed the German army during this winter. Keep in mind: the USSR now has the higher number of units at the frontlines. But also pay attention to the defensive line. Don't make the mistake Mao made. Only attack if you can affort to take losses!

Keep building high numbers of MIL, GAR and INF (in that order). You've got a lot of time to take back the ground lost by the USSR, use it. It's amazing to see how fast in 1944 the Germans will collapse, if you have the patience to build a good defense first! Start building things like ARM, MECH, bombers and the PARA somewhere in 1943, when it seems you've got a solid defensive line, guarded by an abundance of Soviet FTR's.

Courtenay -> RE: Global War AAR in Pictures (5/4/2016 8:10:03 PM)

Why given the choice between taking a loss on a Italian SUB and a German one did you choose the German? Italian SUBS are better than German ones because Italy is far more likely to have naval moves. This is particularly important if you have a mixed stack -- a single Italian SUB can allow a large number of German subs to fight during a German land action. The fact that the Italian SUB was actually a superior unit to the German sub just makes deciding to lose the German sub even easier.

He certainly is. There's a news story in Pravda of Stalin visiting and building a snowman with his front line troops. [:D]

It's obvious I'm not putting enough through into which units to take as losses. [:(]
