Turn 17. Sep/Oct 1942. Axis #5. Germany. The Eastern Front. Ground Strike, Odessa.

Even with a "half" successful ground strike the odds (< 3A) just weren't there to attack Odessa.

Turn 17. Sep/Oct 1942. Axis #5. Germany. The Eastern Front. Land Combat. Novgorod.

The Germans retake Novgorod but at a cost. They used the winterized effects of the Finns so the first lost had to be a Finn.

Turn 17. Sep/Oct 1942. Axis #5. Germany. Brest. Reorg U-boat.

The u-boat unit reorganized by Bock has ranges to all allied Atlantic and Murmansk convoy lines. Though only a single unit the Western Allies must minimize the chance that this u-boat can devastate one of those sea areas next impulse. This would be doubly costly if this happened and the turn ended.

Turn 19. Sep/Oct 1942. Allied #8. MWIF 2.2.2 Hotfix

Applied the latest hotfix (2.2.2) to MWIF. I did confirm that now the USA controls Iceland and Greenland instead of those two countries being neutral.

Turn 19. Sep/Oct 1942. Allied #8. Northern China. Land Combat. Tungkwan, China.

Mao and his communist retake Tungkwan from the Japanese but at the steep cost of two more units destroyed. That brings the number of communist units lost in the last two turns up to 7!

Turn 19. Sep/Oct 1942. Allied #8. USSR. Northern Front.

The Soviets aren't able to get odds to try any attacks, so they don't.

With an organized 5-5 German u-boat in Brest, the RN adds a cruiser escort to the 0-box of the Arctic Ocean.

Turn 19. Sep/Oct 1942. Allied #8. RN. USN. Faeroes Gap.

Both the RN and USN add more convoys and escorts to the Faeroes Gap.

Honestly, I've probably got 4 or so more CPs that I need there because I just got tired of fighting with MWIF over convoy routes. For some reason MWIF insists on using the Faeroes Gap for routes that could use CPs in the Bay of Biscay and breaking routes that can only go through the Faeroes Gap (i.e., convoys to the Soviet Union) because all the CPs in the Faeroes Gap were used up.

I love MWIF and I love the production part of it, but one thing I wish I could do easily was specified the exact route that I wanted conveyed RPs to take and lock that route down until CP losses were taken or CPs were moved from the relevant sea areas. I also hate taking the time to change a route to go the way I want only to see it change itself back. I can pretty much change a route but I've yet to figure out how to lock the route in and not let MWIF change it back.

Turn 19. Sep/Oct 1942. RN. USN. Italian Coast. Naval Battle. Round 2.

Round 2 sees the remaining axis ships off the Italian Coast either sunk, aborted or damaged. With storms off the Italian coast, grounding all aircraft, and no axis ships level in the area the naval battle ends.

rkr1958 -> RE: Global War AAR in Pictures (5/6/2016 2:42:31 AM)

Turn 19. Sep/Oct 1942. USN. Port Strike. Tokyo, Japan.

The USN starts things off this impulse with an effective port strike against IJN naval forces based there. The IJN large fleet carrier Hiryu is damaged, the light aircraft carrier Shoho is disorganized, an IJN heavy cruiser is also disorganized and a CP sunk.

All of this because of the USA airbase in the Bonin Islands.

Turn 19. Sep/Oct 1942. USN. RN. Bismarck Sea.

The USN and RN reinforce the Bismarck Sea to the maximum practical sense possible. They USN choose not to try to initiate a naval battle, which due to the storms would have to be a surface naval battle.
