Destroyed in J/F 1940

Admiral Delabroglio -> RE: 4 player E-mail: AAR (5/28/2016 5:00:32 PM)

Maybe the inclusion of the Polish destroyer prevents Germany from getting no surprise point at all.
Poland and Germany were already at war before the second impulse

Best regards

I am, however, wondering why the German ships did not suffer from the surprise effects?! [&:] [:(]

The Polish Destroyers were ordered to reinforce the French Fleet in the Baltic Sea but they took upon themselves to join the British fleet instead. This, apparently, caused major confusion in the RN and there is still an open inquiry about these events.

Read on Admiral - we found the answer! And yes, it was the Polish unit... [:D]

Admiral Delabroglio -> RE: 4 player E-mail: AAR (5/28/2016 5:21:09 PM)

Better 1 in the North Sea than against Lodz. That's non-negative military thinking

Best regards, and thanks for the AAR

Better 1 in Lodz than Paris... That is positive thinking!

Admiral Delabroglio -> RE: 4 player E-mail: AAR (5/28/2016 5:26:37 PM)

Now let us think further. Suppose in a round of combat, Germany, NOT being surprised because of the Polish ship...
sank that very ship (or ships) and remained at sea.
In the following naval combat rounds, would the Germans suffer from surprise ?

"The nasty Poles have been sunk, we now have nothing to fear from our friendly British enemies"
Has anybody tried it ?

Best regards

Mar/Apr '40

Both sides rolled a 8 on the initiative so Axis won and has to decide whether they want to go first or not.

Edit: I have not yet posted the end of turn information. It could be important that CW returned a TRS with Wavell to Alger (escorted by one BB and one CA).

Okay gents so what is the plan of action this weekend in terms of proposed timing (and so being on the computer)?

Thanks

Mayhemizer_slith -> RE: 4 player E-mail: AAR (6/4/2016 1:26:04 PM)

AllenK is offline, I try to get online on Saturday and Sunday evenings. Lots of things to do after being one week away...

Mayhemizer_slith -> RE: 4 player E-mail: AAR (6/4/2016 8:21:31 PM)

M/A 40 Axis 1

No DoW

Germany land, Italy and Japan combined.

Naval air and naval:

Italian FTR to West Med box 2.

Italian Sub to Cape St. Vincent box 2 and Cape Verde Basin box 1.

Japanese TRS loaded with INF HQ to South China Sea box 0.

Italian submarines try to sink Allied convoys.

Mayhemizer_slith -> RE: 4 player E-mail: AAR (6/4/2016 8:23:36 PM)

Does CW want to send NAV Vildebeest to protect convoys in Cape St. Vincent?

Orm -> RE: 4 player E-mail: AAR (6/4/2016 8:25:50 PM)

Indeed. 0-box, please.

Mayhemizer_slith -> RE: 4 player E-mail: AAR (6/4/2016 8:28:58 PM)

Axis 5, Allied 3.

CW has 2 options with 2 surprise points:

1) Italy takes D and CW takes 2A
2) Italy takes A and CW takes no effect

Italy has one submarine in the sea area and CW has 2x CA

Orm -> RE: 4 player E-mail: AAR (6/4/2016 8:31:46 PM)

Option 1, please.

HMS Cornwall takes the first abort and HMS Kent the second.

Edit: And primary abort port is Gibraltar.

Mayhemizer_slith -> RE: 4 player E-mail: AAR (6/4/2016 8:34:27 PM)

CW rolls 2 and 1, both ships are aborted.

Italian submarine is aborted to France on a 9.

Mayhemizer_slith -> RE: 4 player E-mail: AAR (6/4/2016 8:35:59 PM)

Cape Verde Basin: Axis 10, Allied 8. No combat.

Mayhemizer_slith -> RE: 4 player E-mail: AAR (6/4/2016 8:41:07 PM)

One might say Germany is bombing London, I would say Germany is rebasing NAV to France flying over London...
