Orm in our games of MWIF your strategic bombing was delivered with pinpoint accuracy about 90% of the time. Can I respectfully ask you to use the "same wrist technique" as that employed against me when throwing the Strategic Bombing dice please? [:D]

I've been close to useless with strategy bombing in all my games except when you have been on the opposite side. I think you jinxed me in those games. [;)]

About Chinese attack...

Is there a CVP left for ground support? What kind of odds you get if Japs use 1 point ground support (is it possible to be 100% sure that Japan is not going to suffer a loss)?

There is one Japanese CV left with one point of ground support available. (I must confess I didn't even check for it [:D])

If one point is added then the attack is on the 1:2 table. If the HQ support would lover it one additional odds the attack is still done on the 1:2 table but with a -1 on the die roll.

RAC 11.16.5 Resolving attacks
....
Subtract 1 from the roll for each odds level below 1:2.

Mayhemizer_slith -> RE: 4 player E-mail: AAR (6/11/2016 12:54:48 PM)

With river crossing and Chinese attack weakness it is 1:4 attack?

If so, no HQ support and blitz, thanks [;)]

No.

The Chinese unit is a 2 strength that gets halved to 1 for the river and to 0.5 for attack weakness. 0.5 is rounded to 1 before calculating the odds. So the attack is 1:1 if Japan adds no support at all. 1:2 with either successful HQ support or ground support. 1:2 -1 with both air support and defensive HQ support that is successful. (remember that HQ support is not automatic)

Mayhemizer_slith -> RE: 4 player E-mail: AAR (6/11/2016 1:29:41 PM)

Only ground support, no HQ support. I choose blitz table.

Orm -> RE: 4 player E-mail: AAR (6/11/2016 2:18:04 PM)

The attack was a complete failure. And I am pretty sure that there is a bug here but since it didn't change the result I will not go back. Although I was confused when I saw that there was a fractional odds roll for this attack since I didn't think it would be needed. And stunned when I saw the result of that roll.

Anyway. The Japanese charge attack seems to work poorly for China. [:D]

Mar/Apr '40
Impulse #7 (Allied)

USSR rebase two bombers toward Finland and two bombers to Persia.

No reorganization.

The turn continues with a roll of 6.

Orm -> RE: 4 player E-mail: AAR (6/11/2016 2:45:55 PM)

And the Spring storms roll in over Europe.

Centuur -> RE: 4 player E-mail: AAR (6/11/2016 6:49:07 PM)

Well, the goal of the Chinese attack was pretty obvious. The loss of the Kunming MIL will mean that the Chinese will rebuild it immediately and put it in Kunming for defense of the place next turn. It cost the Chinese 2 BP, but that's better than a possible loss of Kunming if the Japanese succeed in putting the Canton MIL out of supply and eliminating it...

Mr. Orm is correct that there is a bug here. I've never noticed it before, but his remark made me check RAW:

Add up the attacking units’ (modified) combat factors, shore
bombardment and ground support. Round the total to the nearest
whole number (rounding 0.5 up).
Total the defending units’ factors in the same way.

MWIF should always work with round numbers before calculating the odds (or the 2D10 modifier). It doesn't do so.

Mayhemizer_slith -> RE: 4 player E-mail: AAR (6/11/2016 7:54:33 PM)

M/A 40 Axis 9

No DoW

All choose land

Germany rails 2x INF and artillery to SW France.

Germany moves towards Spanish border.

Japan takes empty city of Nanning, no reaction in US (8 rolled).

Japanese AA gun debarks to Canton.

Southern China after land moves.

Mayhemizer_slith -> RE: 4 player E-mail: AAR (6/11/2016 7:56:41 PM)

Germany rebases FTR to SW France and another FTR rebases to cover Paris and Brussels.

No reorganization.

Turn does not end (9 rolled).

Back to Allies.

Orm -> RE: 4 player E-mail: AAR (6/12/2016 8:50:35 AM)

Allies all pass and the turn ends on a roll of 2. (7 or less needed)

I think that there are more important rolls in the future and I suspect that this was just teasing by the die roll generator. So I would hold the accolades for now. [:D]

Orm -> RE: 4 player E-mail: AAR (6/12/2016 9:35:20 AM)

No partisans.

Germany place two offensive markers while USSR place one defensive.

US place one entry marker in the Japanese pool and selects resources to Western Allies and reopen Burma Road. No markers moved to the tension pool.

Soz guys - but did not read anything.....

Courtenay -> RE: 4 player E-mail: AAR (6/12/2016 7:12:35 PM)

I very much admire the ruthless Chinese forced recruitment of the Kunming peasantry to save the city. I do not think I would have figured out to do that.

Mayhemizer_slith -> RE: 4 player E-mail: AAR (6/12/2016 8:44:01 PM)

Units destroyed.

Just realized China already lost Kunming WL and they can build it to protect the city.

For some reason I can't post a picture.

Losses are:
Kunming MIL
Kunming WL
CW MOT

Indeed. But, alas, it is a bit to slow to arrive as reinforcement. [:D]

brian brian -> RE: 4 player E-mail: AAR (6/13/2016 4:07:01 AM)

It's very good strategy for any MP in World in Flames to build out their MIL pools, keep them empty, and then use the MIL locally around their source city for this reason. Save maybe for the USSR, where the allure of building a dozen MIL at once when Barbarossa starts can then leave them with a bunch of junk units that rail up in front of the Panzers, which barely blink at their destruction. And China has some MIL that can't be replaced that shouldn't be put at the point of the front lines.

Anyhow, the best units for Germany to defend Denmark with are the Kiel and Hamburg MIL units.

Allies win their first initiative roll. [X(]

Will Axis use their power and demand a re-roll?
