Turn 21. Jan/Feb 1943. Allied #3. Ground Strikes. 3 of 3.

The three allied ground strikes were a bust. That is, totally ineffective with the exception that a German fighter was downed (in ground strike #2).

Or what there is of it ...

Turn 21. Jan/Feb 1943. Allied #3. Naval Reorg.

The CW uses an empty Amph and TRS to reorganize one of their fighter.

Turn 21. Jan/Feb 1943. Axis #5. Weather.

Naturally. I guess it's too much to ask for snow or even blizzard in the Arctic and North Temperate during the Jan/Feb turn!

This could be a back breaker for the allies.

JF43 i5:
Axis actions: Italy and Japan take combined arm actions and Germany takes a land action.
Italy moves a NAV to the 4-box of the E. Med
Italy moves a fleet from La Spezia carry a Germany Mar-div to the 4-box of the E. Med
Japan moves two fleets into the Sea of Japan. Two transports from the Korean peninsula and a mixed battleship and carrier fleet from Fukuoka. They are carrying a MAR, MIL and inf-div.

For the naval combat, I do not initiate in three areas. The E. Med will await the outcome in the Arabian Sea.
Arabian Sea the axis find on rolls of 2/10. Decide to engage only the 0-box with 13 surprise points.
Choose Naval Air combat and use surprise to move up 5 columns and 3 to select the target for the 2nd effect on the CW.
Next post images show the result. Royal Sovereign and the CP were sunk. The York was aborted.

The axis stay for round 2, will the Allies?

rkr1958 -> RE: Pat vs Ronnie GW AAR (8/29/2017 12:36:21 PM)

Yes, the CW stays.

ashkpa -> RE: Pat vs Ronnie GW AAR (8/29/2017 1:00:14 PM)

Axis found in round 2 on rolls of 5/9. I avoid combat.
Where would you like the York to abort?

ashkpa -> RE: Pat vs Ronnie GW AAR (8/29/2017 1:02:30 PM)

With the Arabian Sea results, you are out of supply in the E. Med, so I will not initiate combat there. You can initiate combat if you wish. The image below shows what is in the sea zone.

rkr1958 -> RE: Pat vs Ronnie GW AAR (8/29/2017 10:44:56 PM)

Abort the York to the closet port still in supply.

The RN will NOT attempt to initiate in the East Med.

Sent it to Victoria (in the Seychelles). India would be in supply, but I am not sure it would have access to the oil needed to reorganize there.

JF43 i1, 1 Ground Strike on Moscow with the ART. Decent results.

ashkpa -> RE: Pat vs Ronnie GW AAR (8/30/2017 12:35:23 AM)

Getting ready for attacks.
One in Russia against an out of supply disorganized ARM (1 defense factor). Attacking with 20 factors so you adding air support does not make since 20:2 is still +20, but you can if you wish (bomber in Saratov). Also attacking Vlad again (moved two corp and a division ashore).
And I'm invading Cypress with a GE mar div. Currently Cypress is out of supply and the notional is 0. However, I got this screen asking about HQ Emergency supply for Wavell in Egypt (I have been answer no to this as a matter of practice, but here it may make a difference if it allows the CP to supply the notional). Do you want to use the Emergency supply (Wavell will be disorganized). If so, this is the first time I'd see HQ emergency supply used in a game I've played.

ashkpa -> RE: Pat vs Ronnie GW AAR (8/30/2017 12:45:35 AM)

Well this may be a "forget it moment". Reading the rules I would think the notional could get supply this way, but I tried a sample case here and when I selected Wavell for HQ Emergency supply it would only give me the option of supplying the 1-4 mot-div and not the notional.

Do any of the experts know if this is correct?

RAW:

To trace a basic supply path overseas, the unit must be in a coastal hex
or trace the path via a port. (...)
From the coastal hex or port, you trace the supply path via any number
of consecutive sea areas to a friendly controlled port which is a supply
source itself or from which you can continue the supply path overland
to a supply source.

Since Wavell is in the desert to far from a port hex, he can't provide emergency supply to Cyprus.

JF43 i5:
Land Attack rolls were all below average. The worst was the Vlad attack, I did take the hex, but lost another two units (5 attackers lost over two impulses to take the city - I can just see Banzai charge after Banzai charge).
Other two attacks were complete successes because of the over whelming odds, not the brilliance of the die.

I moved the two subs in Vlad to Magadan along the Siberian coast. They could have gone south to some unoccupied allied territory, so feel free to move them via edit (note, they cannot be in Australia or India proper because of home country cooperation rules). The port would need to be within 6 movement range of Vlad.

Turn 21. Jan/Feb 1943. Allied #6. USN Naval Move 1/3.

The first of their three naval moves by the USN is to move a transport from the Reunion islands to the 1-box of the Arabian Sea. This puts the allied forces in the East Med back in supply (for now).

rkr1958 -> RE: Pat vs Ronnie GW AAR (8/30/2017 11:37:22 PM)

Turn 21. Jan/Feb 1943. Allied #6. The Arabian Sea. No Combat.

The USN will not attempt to initiate a naval combat in the Arabian Sea and since all Japanese forces there are disorganized the axis won't have the opportunity thus ending any potential naval combat there for this impulse.

Turn 21. Jan/Feb 1943. Allied #6. USN Naval Move 2/3.

The USN uses their second of three naval moves to move the BB's North Carolina and Washington from Pearl to the 3-box of the Marianas, joining up with the forces moved their last allied impulse.

The USN will attempt to initiate a naval combat in this sea area. Shown are the Japanese and USA planes that can react.

What are your instructions?

Turn 21. Jan/Feb 1943. Allied #6. USN Naval Move 3/3.

The USN uses their third and final naval move to send a raiding force from Pearl into the 2-box of the Bismark Sea.

The USN will attempt to initiate a naval combat in this sea area. Shown are the Japanese planes that can react.

What are your instructions?
