Our fighter trap works well...really better than I thought with 0 aviation support. Those pilots must be tired!

The level of aviation support is not really relevant for day 1 air operations as its impact is on subsequent days in terms of ability to service damaged aircraft. Of far greater relevance for day 1 operations is the distance involved in the transfer for that both impacts on the number of aircraft damaged on the transit flight plus whether any air operation will be undertaken at all on the transfer date itself.

Alfred

As best I can tell, the two squadrons with only single digit fatigue didn't fly at all...failed their rolls, travelled to far to get there...that is really good information to see you write about. I always new there was some impact.[&o]

Edit: only one squadron failed to fly..not too bad.

Claude's actually compares pretty favorably to the MBR2![X(]

That's a fancy hovercraft there, that AM Nightingale. I'm surprised your torpedo hit it [:'(]

British bombers are eating me up alive in northern China, where I went too far without AA.

Need AA to arrive for the Mongol operation to move forward, but I am working on it and a counter to the Soviet thrust.

You don't have time to dawdle.[;)]

Provided the units are not too fragile, push forward into Mongolia without AA. The AA can follow behind with the main column. The British bombers cannot be based at Soviet airfields so you will "soon" outrun them. If Soviet bombers are relocated then that both (a) reduces the pressure on the Amur, and (b) will largely operate beyond range of Soviet fighters. That will expose them to a single Zero squadron on LRCAP.

Also want to add that those bases don't start with much, if anything, at them for air support. It's possible he's moved things around, but given the roads into them I'd be a little surprised...

Intel reports back that the Soviets are upset about the plane losses recently and will be changing tactics.

Lowpe -> RE: Soviets Activated.... (9/13/2017 9:36:03 PM)

Toyohara invasion goes in, trying to clean up Taraken which has became a Dutch strongpoint, moving into Singers.

Another cap trap in Manchuko.

I have over 350,000 resources shipping into Honshu on task forces right now...

Yeah, 50mph faster is a lot ... an

MIG3 in game quite overrated plane btw - most sources suggest the typical, practical speed was more in the range 350-370 mph...

Lots happening...Toyohara invasion goes in...and finds the Soviets retreating. As expected. That frees up the 2nd wave to go somehwere else.

No aerial attacks on either the invasion fleet, the bombardments fleets, ASW TF, or supply task force. I suspect maximum aerial devastation here once the base falls...to prep for that there will be no attack tomorrow...rather I will LRCAP it in hopes of fighting the Soviets on equal terms. This will allow the bombardment fleets to position themselves to the north and hit runways along Siberia coastline on the morrow.

Lowpe -> There will be blood... (9/14/2017 10:46:57 PM)

And there will be blood, and lots of it tomorrow.

Soviet subs are slow...at least this class. An E put this one done, and destroyers did good work on another two Soviet subs. Lots of aerial ASW flying to help coordinate, a few hits scored, but doubtfull this early in the game.

Good luck with this shock attack. I always have the urge to cover me with something when this one happens.

I am expecting 10,000 losses...I have not been able to bomb Singers. But I have two HQ's, good prep, and lots of artillery.

We shall see.

PaxMondo -> RE: There will be blood... (9/15/2017 12:13:53 AM)

Command HQ prepped for Singers?

Command HQ prepped for Singers?

Of course, plus lessers, most everyone is 100% prepped. No small units going in other than Artillery.

Lowpe -> RE: There will be blood... (9/15/2017 12:18:50 AM)

I cranked thru the turn, mainly because I find the shock attack here and at Chungking to be entirely unpleasant, and something that simply needs doing.

So I flipped it and now the ball is in the Allied court.

PaxMondo -> RE: There will be blood... (9/15/2017 12:19:38 AM)

You should be fine unless he has spent the PP's to replace the Singer commander, which I doubt. I suspect far less that 10K casualties ...

I bet he did. I would in this game.

Thanks,[&o].

As long as the destroyed devices isn't too high...I will take it. Hopefully all the artillery will help, and start draining Singers of supplies.

Tough call, lets see. And if he did, you still have the Gary roll and you might still win it. [;)]

Lokasenna -> RE: There will be blood... (9/15/2017 6:19:01 AM)

Chungking already?!

Edit - oh, wait. I get what you mean.

Lowpe -> RE: There will be blood... (9/15/2017 6:39:14 PM)

Singers

I have two more divisions forming north of Singers, and they will be able to replace two beat up divisions. I plan on making the base to the north a r&r base and simply cycle units in and out.

It bothers me that I don't have air superiority, and will be unable to keep the base damaged to prevent fort repairs. I am working on eliminating Singers from getting resupply as best I can. The Allies have 80k troops plus 200 planes there, and I have isolated Singers early in the game (I think) so he can't have unlimited supply there.

I suspect I will have the turn in a few hours and we shall see the carnage.

Pretty frustrating here in Manchuko...my rail network is not working despite no obvious roadblocks to destinations.

Ouch. The Singapore defenders seem to have quite a lot of AFV's. And if I'm reading right, your engineers failed to reduce the fortifications. Perhaps a few rounds of bombardment are in order?

PaxMondo -> RE: Soviets Activated.... (9/16/2017 4:37:08 AM)

ouch, you called it. well over 10K casualties ... he must have replaced the leadership.
