Resources in transit for Honshu dropped to 450K, and Honshu's resource stockpile climbed for only the fourth time this game. But it was a 120k climb, and port Fusan is one off its highest level, and is pulling resources nicely....now at 130k in port.

Pretty much a preparing and loading turn.

Identified the Infantry Division, based on exp and TOE, that will be bought out and in what order. Changed prep on 55 exp troops...I can buy the first 1/3rd of a division now.

In Malacca Straits, a light bombardment of Sabang will happen, but heavy ASW aerial coverage is being setup before further ops there. Moving support ship and combat ships to the area.

Sakhalin...working on a 2nd landing to secure the bridgehead at Alexandrvosk, while bombarding Shikuka and organizing the invasion of that base.

Played the ship repair game...so much of the IJN is in repair mode.

Beefed up the air defenses over Magwe a bit, but nowhere enough.

So much to do each turn...

My first new plane model of the war! Huzzah!

I guess I will upgrade to it, primarily because of -5 engine...I am down to 10 of them.

My transports have gotten a huge work out this game...almost always busy.

CR termed the phrase friction...attritional losses.

I hope to inflict some friction by slowing down the tempo of offensive operations against the Allied sub fleets which are massed at both Sakhalin and in the Straits of Malacca. I have pushed too hard in some spots, and Allied subs have been far more effective than they should be at this point.

I am also dabbling in using the twin engine bombers.

At this point, I am not in a huge hurry. If I can do a landing in Java in say July, I will be happy.

My two recently arrived garrison units are now loaded on ships and will be leaving...I decided to send one to the Kuriles and one to the SRA -- a compromise I am not really happy about.

Singers...a few British Cruisers bombard for minimal effect thanks to the forts the local troops have built up. Bombardment goes well.

Sakhalin

My guess is that the Allies no limit in their boldness this game, figuring with the Soviets active there is nothing really to lose.

Lowpe -> RE: Soviets Activated.... (9/28/2017 1:59:54 AM)

Finally...

Resources in Honshu climbed for the 2nd day in a row, but more importantly resources in Korea spiked to over 400,000 with 3/4th of it at Fusan.

Plus oil and fuel draw...never have a problem drawing fuel here, but oil can be tough.

Down to 400,000 on cargo ships headed for Honshu, but the crisis maybe over for now but will surely rear its ugly head far too soon.

We shall try and save this tanker...only a PB escort. Probably shouldn't be at sea given how poor the Captain is.

The cargo ship hit and set afire by a 300kg Dutch bomb has fires down to 1 and is docked at Jolo.

Another long, click fest turn.

As soon as I sent it, I realized I left one task force hanging out to dry...and forgot to move a few construction units....hopefully it won't hurt too bad.

I've discovered that there's always something left undone.

+1
or 2
or 5

ok, seems like I can find a dozen or more things every turn ... I'm not very proficient. [:(]

March 2nd, 1942

Foolish of me to think my miscues will go unpunished in this game...

The Soviets surge their destroyers into Alexandrovsk...I anticipated it today, he had been running them up the coast and disbanding in ports I think.

Anyhow the IJN has two CL forces screening the carriers, and they actually encounter the Rooskies first. All the Rooskie destroyers are showing smoke from hard use.

Lowpe -> RE: Soviets Activated.... (9/29/2017 5:27:41 PM)

Another fight...I am taken by surprise in that the Soviets set their home port most likely to Alexandrovsk, so the stick around for about a half dozen or more fights.

The anticipated PT boats. I guess I can expect Yankee paratroopers here soon.[:(]

Hibiki is a great ship and has RADM Raizo Tanaka in command. Probably a misuse of him, but that's life. He surprises the PT boats and promptly sinks one, but the misses the 2nd one during the morning.

Lowpe -> RE: Soviets Activated.... (9/29/2017 5:32:48 PM)

Instead of moving my planes and ships in Sumatra yesterday, I worked a bit on my Iboats. Are they guys headed to Midway or the Kuriles? Kuriles is my bet...1 vehicle destroyed.

Tjilatjap -- I was hoping for a tanker.

A sub concentration...check out all the sub contacts by floats flying night search.

Lowpe -> RE: Soviets Activated.... (9/29/2017 5:39:46 PM)

Yank paratroops....the troops to garrison that island are leaving Nagoya as we speak.

Now I need to figure out my response. I bet the Allies are using their damaged two carriers close by.

Lowpe -> RE: Soviets Activated.... (9/29/2017 5:42:24 PM)

Here, I messed up plain and simple. Allied bombers have a field day damaging several light cruisers and putting a 500 pounder on the Chikuma.

My bad...I literally didn't move anything here from last turn...so the losses could have been a lot worse.

The Allies used Beasts, Albacores, Flying Dutch boats, etc...I should have extracted a heavy cost here.

Up north, at Magwe the Allies continue savaging the fighters and oil fields.

Really, a pitiful excuse of a Japanese turn.

Lowpe -> RE: Soviets Activated.... (9/29/2017 5:49:26 PM)

I was forced to fly the Oscar Ib over Magwe and they suffered. Pilot quality was iffy...and of course the plane really stinks.

The Ic flew over the Kotou pocket, LRCAP and suffered too, against nothing more than lousy, but a lot, of Rooskie 1st gen fighters.

There was so many fights with the Russian destroyers, I think I might have put down two. One for sure.
