T011 Axis Ukraine

The freak mud weather has halted the advance along the Azov coast this turn meaning instead 1st Panzer Group has moved north to take the opportunities there; meaning the axis of advance will be fundamtally different in future turns. This single event will have repercussions far into the future of this war.

No idea
What is STAVKA doing in the south? What is he trying to defend? Rostov and the Donbass should be the places to defend, not the Kahrkov area, there is nothing there now, and they have gotten themselves in dire straits. I bet the Panzerkorps making the BU is going to cut lots of units next turn around Poltava unless they start retreating now.

Although little production has been lost directly because of these raids this turn, expansion of these factories to make them produce a higher number each week has been delayed and this will cost them far more in the long run.
[image]local://upfiles/53894/CCF8410C26EE46DEAC80BD6AED71369B.jpg[/image]
Either they will have to use some of their airgroups to defend their industry in the rear - or they will lose a lot of production over time.

A good way for the Soviets to build experience and morale for fighter squadrons is to have them shoot down unescorted German bombers.

Except .. we used recon and fighter sweeps to determine that no fighters could/would react .. although there were turns in the Center that sacrificed many JU87's ... but in general at least most of the Germans used a methodical approach to air power ..

This turn is pretty key here .. there is an unlimited Soviet supply in the upper right hand corner of this picture (slightly off map) that when combined with cutting rail to the South .. produces an untenable position. The Finn's are rolling .. better yet I am using up those SU's that simply disband ...

It is a welcome addition that there are increasing costs (in terms of MP) to consequential failed attacks in the current game version.

Could I please request some figher aircraft for the south as the vast majority of my bombing missions have to run without any fighter cover. Also, the German will have to do lots and lots of air supply runs, all of which at present run entirely unmolested deep behind my lines to supply his cut off divisions.

+- 200 fighter aircraft were sent in the South.

quote:

Soviet South Commander
Sent all available air closer to the fronts, with a reasonable distribution of fighter and bomber aircraft. A large number of fighters were still stuck in the Moscow Air Command airfields as they had already flown miles, so could not be sent anywhere - will dish them out next turn.

Will probably start thinking about retreating to the Gorky-Yaroslav-Cherepovets line with both Northern and Central Front and maybe have the Southern front take the Rostov-Stalingad defensive line. So prepare for that in the next turn or so.

Beria -> 2x3+ AAR updated (12/15/2019 4:28:32 PM)

There was a break in updating this AAR for a while as many new players had joined the game and there has been a lot of excitement. Normally when the turn is with the other side you have the time to update this AAR. But with the turns going so fast there has not been a lot of time in between to do it. However the last few weeks we have been doing the screenshots and writing the text to update this AAR to where the game is now. The players who have not been here from the beginning are now keen to get the AAR closer to the current turn. And am glad to say have also been helping to write up the old turns. So expect to see some of the other players from the Soviet team also posting.

Telemecus -> 2x3+ T001-T011 Recap (12/15/2019 4:57:52 PM)

T001-T011 Axis Recap

In the first eleven turns Axis forces have not only captured the usual large haul of forces from turn 1 pockets, but almost the entire Soviet centre in several pocket around Smolensk and most of the industry in the Donbass and Kharkov. In the North Leningrad has been cut off by land and by port bombing has also cut them off by sea leaving the forces in Leningrad isolated much to the surprise of our opponents. Generals Model and Hell lead the infantry forces standing ready for the final assault on Leningrad.

New pockets have been created west of Moscow and in a large part of the south near Poltava.

Telemecus -> 2x3+ T012 Soviet turn from Axis perspective (12/15/2019 5:10:16 PM)

T012 Soviet Turn from Axis perspective

When turn 12 comes back to the Axis team we see what the Soviet side did in turn 11. They had broken all of the pockets (except Lenigrad). Near Poltava they broke in in three places isolating our own units. To the west of Moscow they broke in by 12 battle reports in one hex. Most were hopeless odds "soaking" attacks which nevertheless depleted the ammunition of the defenders before the final big successful attack came. Our guys just ran out of ammo killing the enemy! Even after the next Axis logistics phase the defending division only had 4% ammunition left.
