I almost always wear shoes due to missing parts . . . Besides, this is not baseball. If he is attacking multiple bases as if he is trying to throw a blanket over everything, it may not be able to cover it all due to lack of assets hence it is threadbare.

Both before and after conversions they ferried Supply to Horn Island and later Darwin. Three Raider Bns will be on Roi-Namur, so the SST's will be perfect for taking them to seize unoccupied bases. Joe's idea for the paras can be used for either empty or occupied bases, provided they aren't much occupied (as the para forces available are small).

Shoeless Joe would be fine if he were trying to take one base at a time. Shoeless Joe for a paratrooper attack on a marginally defended base would be fine since it would be trying to steal that base against a distracted player. A threadbare blanket or cloth would try to cover everything but might not be able to. But I do have a tenuous connection with Shoeless Joe due to Doc Graham. [;)]

If you can, try to buy out those VLG-III Sup Afd units, or at least one of the smaller ones that combine into larger ones and get them out of the DEI. Having more air support units, even the small ones, to spread around can be quite useful and they should not cost too much. If you transport air units by rail on Java between two cities that will have the rail lines cut and then the starting base captured, they will be stuck during transport and never get to a base. That accidentally happened to me during one game and they were still in the queue until I rescued them by recapturing a base. [:D]

I might buy back the destroyed units if I can be certain of where they will come back (don't want them stuck in queue waiting for the liberation of Java). If I remember correctly, the units bought back will come in at Aden along with any other Dutch reinforcements. If they have taken damage, they might be cheap enough to buy out now and get just part of them to Australia where they can rebuild and be used to host training/rear echelon squadrons at already built up bases.

Dutch units will arrive in Aden. But screen them before buying out, since replacements only exist for generic squads like (air)support or engineers. Many of the airbases have tiny TOEs and are hardly worth reviving, infantry is not worth it at all IMHO.

Since the game can't model these, it showed what it could. In a turn last night in my game, 13 Devastators got 13 bomb hits dropping from 1000 feet, 30 squads destroyed on that xAK so they can do good work, they just don't have the range.

If he knew almost all the units recovering in Sian are in Rest mode he could jump the river without a fuss and really complicate things.

Forgot to mention: a bunch of AK at Pearl Harbor have 11 days remaining in their upgrades so that's a hard lower limit on when I can start loading. The two battleships upgrading at San Francisco will be done in a few days and head for Hawaii along with the coming USMC Rgt and the additional AE's and AKE's. One battleship upgrading at Pearl Harbor needs close to 3 weeks and will be the straggler if external conditions allow the operation to commence ASAP.

You have yet to mention your mastrokova plan; we know you did the beginner course at VladPutinU 101 [8D] If the biggest fear/threat is: 1) KB1 at Truk and 2) KB2 is likely down at Balikipan or DEI / Australia ~ ..for arguments sake... are you launching an offensive in Burma? Responding in Australia clearly but assigning a 'misdirection' squadron of USAAF 5th in Australia to support ?

[8D] For greatest distraction I was thinking about holding an international press conference and behaving really stupidly... [;)] I really can't do anything in Burma just yet, but I doubt any advance into Burma would cause KB1 to respond anyway. I do have both some US ground troops and plenty of US aircraft in Australia. Cloncurry is building pretty fast and, at size 4, I am willing to use it now for B17's; Just waiting for the Imperial troops to appear. I think I so little to make a credible decoy operation that any such op would be immediately seen as a decoy. If I am right about that, the best misdirection is simply to show up. In the absence of any obvious ploy by me KB1 might just be somewhere else's as part of the Empire's own plans.
