In a certain train wagon a peace treaty was signed between France and Germany, ending the bloodshed. However, French commanders and governors in French Equatorial Africa and New Caledonia, together with the French army in the Italian controlled Egyptian-Sudan decide to rebel against Marshall Petain. Only the AT guns reach port. In Northern China, Mao saves himself for the second time. November december sees Europe in a sort of phoney war. On the mainland, the Wehrmacht marches to the east. In the Med, the Commonwealth eliminates the remaining pocket of Italians in Egypt. In the Atlantic, Italian SUB's are eliminated by CW ships... In China, another stroke of bad luck for the Japanese. Northern China: One can conclude that if the Japanese did got one impulse of either show or fine weather during this turn, the Chinese would have been in a very, very bad positions. Unfortunately, the weather rolls were a consistent "4" for the whole turn. One can imagine the effect this has had on Japanese morale.... The year 1941 starts in China with storms. Yamamoto steps outside his tent, looks into the sky. His face doesn't change. After all, it isn't good to show ones dismay on the continuing wet conditions. If only their would be one impulse reprieve. Please, let it snow, let it snow, let it snow. Because if it did, Chiang would certainly be a dead man soon... But a week later, he again steps outside his tent, looking with dismay that the storms continue. And this with continuous reports from his pilots, that Chiangs troops have again been bombed with massive disruption as result... In Germany, Rumania, Hungaria and Bulgaria, officers and men on leave receive letters from the postmen. Please report to your posts immediately. All leaves are cancelled. In Finland, general mobilization starts. A lot of planes are seen flying to the east over Germany and Hungary early january. The German Kriegsmarine sails for the Baltic Sea. GROe officials in Moscow send reports to Beria. He discards it, saying: "look outside, it's snowing. I'm not going to propose to send more men and equipment west in this weather, but let's mobilize all available men, just in case"... In Berlin, on the evening of the 20th. of january 1941 the weather report is discussed at the OKW. The Reichswetterdienst reports: "over Eastern Poland and large parts of the USSR, there will be continuing light snow fall. Only around the Black Sea, there are storms which tend to continue for a while". The weathermen leave the office. Generalfeldmarschall Walter von Brauchitsch looks around the conference chamber, which is filled with high commanding officers: "Gentlemen, the F�hrer has autorised me, to set the final date of the attack on the Soviets. I now declare that we are ready and we will attack this night, according to the orders we've all been given. Carry on". The officers rise and salute. After retuning the salute, von Brauchitsch returns to his desk and picks up the phone. When the phone is answered, he states his name and says: "Please inform the F�hrer: Barbarossa"... However, in the south, due to succesfull grounds strikes on Zhukov, the Soviets have decided to stay and fight. "Heeresgruppe S�d" reports that the enemy is entrenching on the banks of the river, also notice that the bulk of the Luftwaffe is stationed in this region.
