Mid-january and roughly a semi-circle frontline around Moscow. Whats your estimates for the coming 42 season ? Should the soviets rather solidify their position or should they use the +1 and the blizzard season to further threaten the salient ?

I will attempt to surround Stalino and Moscow.
Seems like German strength has not recovered in January. Mainly b/c they are out of the fox holes and unrested.

the +1 is a huge help to the soviets in the first winter, and you should be fine into FEB....towards the end of FEB is when the Soviets have to really start to worry about German counter-offensives.

Even without a +1 the Soviets can manage some gains in the First winter, but it seems in the current version of the game the +1 is basically required for the soviets to make any real progress.

Full blizz and +1 IMO need a different mindset and baseline objectives to maximise gains

Full blizzard means your potential for attrition with manpower ratios is going to give you better gains longterm and you can also multiply that by offeseting potential Axis CV to artifically draw up Axis reserves in 42
With +1 Soviet hardline objectives are key as Axis cannot stonewall you as easily and you can also cause the collapse of Axis lines by ensuring pockets are a possbility by applying constant pressure at decisive points

I think currently both options will work differently dependant on Axis & Soviet playstyle

the issue is almost no German players will play with full Blizzard as a condition, used to be you could play the game with no Soviet bonus and it still be a solid game but now its almost required that the Soviet player aim for at least either the +1 or Full blizzard.....and even then look at this game Leningrad, Moscow, and Stalino area all lost in 1941.

Also no recent game has seen the Soviets lose Moscow and come back long term due to the massive amount of replacement manpower losses the Soviets take from that is my guess.

Looking forward to seeing the change notes on the patch that is supposed to be coming soon to see if they are managing to get some balance back. Germans should get their transport aircraft back to working correctly, be interesting to see what other changes are in there...hopefully higher German tank losses at a minimum.

In previous patch I would agree with you but under current patch this doesn't hold up. Plus in this game Brian pretty much gave up Leningrad. Current patch is pro-Soviet. Will see what the next patch does.
