Down south the view is rinse and repeat. Air attacks this time only on combat units.

he did not attack my air bases this turn.

I am starting to see a pattern. airbases every 3 weeks. and combat units on the other 2.

not that this will help me. I think my flak is getting increasing kills. I will try and keep tally.

I then observe all these odd units hanging out by the fins.

So I assume he wants the units near Leningrad which may rout to rout way east. Does this mean all the hexes near Leningrad are full up.

The Russians put up a nasty defense and take heavy kia's. They retreat nonetheless.

Many units are routing. Due to lack of space? Or retreat thru zoc?

Remembering my supply 101 class, I bomb Leningrad supply port cutting off supply and evacuation.

Which leads to the following thoughts.

These Russian units are trapped. They will wither if I can cut the lake all the way to the fins.

No reason now to attack Leningrad. I will wait. First I will push with everything to cut off all possible supply.

There must be at least 24 divisions in Leningrad area. plus some assorted debutants.

North rr situation.

Although my east line was cut during last turns Russian attacks, I am set to reconnect the line. I have 2 rr repair units near by and the missing link will soon be fixed.

Next turn the far north is mud. My surrounded troops, in the far north area, will have to hold out during a mud turn before these tanks units shown here are used as the rescue force.

Due to limited Russian recon I don't believe these tanks were noticed.

the south soviet weather zone is just about where this attack occurs. This area will be clear next turn.

I thus start attempt to surround a few Russian units.

These attacks end up not being well thought out.

I even throw in air support on this hasty attack. The prior battle forced the Russian into the target surround hex on the far west of the Russian line.

I would agree with you that 17,000 aircraft lost by turn 34 is a good indicator that the losses on turn 34 are not sustainable. The trend I watch is the OOB. For the forum, that represents the number of aircraft attached to airbases vs reserve. Trending how many the Soviets can field gives an indication of the health of the Air Force. What is great about the results of a turn like this is damaged aircraft scraped in the logistics phase. In better weather the Germans can follow up with strikes on the Soviet airfields turning more damaged into destroyed.

What is the total damage on Osinovets? Just to say Stukas are pretty effective at port bombing :) you will need 70% in your turn to get 67% in the Soviet turn.
One thing I did was to rout out a couple of Soviet units so you don’t have as many fighting your forces while you reduce Osinovets. That is of course debatable because you want to trap as many units as possible. I just found routing out enough so the ones left behind could not resist .. it freed forces early too .. ahh this game is so great !

What is the 'official' level for port being shut. Ignorance is sometimes not bliss.

Not sure I will be bombing Russian airfields.
I'm afraid of more bad bomber results. Perhaps I am being a bit timid.

Although, I agree It would be smart to do so on turns such as this when Russians bombers have had lots of fatigue.

Well the level 3 port is 66.6 or 67%. It will repair 3% every turn. You can look at the 2x3 AAR but the best attack I got I was with Stukas .. something like 13% in one turn.

The shipping is zero for the “ Brianites” (from Sillyflower) :) but the Soviets are shipping believe me :)

There is a chart floating around for port levels higher but I am thinking port level 3 is maximum feasible .
