After last weeks success in the marshes the Soviets reasonably Sir Robined out most units around Pskov. This did leave 4 fueled up German divisions with a lot of land and few units to conquer, though.

Which led to an unexpectedly large pocket, as there were still Soviet units on their way to the Luga.

AG Center was able to hold last weeks pocket closed. With some units not having participated last week and finally having fuel it was decided to try to enlarge it somewhat.

Which led to a small pocket and most importantly the capture of Velikie Luki. Reserves were kept refitting in case of their need in weeks to come.

In the north the pocket did hold and the Soviets had fully retreated behind the Luga.

Although fuel was scarce the infantry was near and the positions not well fortified. It therefore proved possible to capture parts of the Luga line and clear most of the pocket.

In the Center the new pocket was broken by one of those pesky cavalry divisions.

As the Soviets had retreated AG Center struggled to make contact with the infantry and rest some of the panzers. The pocket was firmly reastablished, although some units got away to fight another day.

At the same time the infantry of the 6th Army reached the outer defense belt of Kiew.

After having to retreat 6 times in one week, the once proud Soviet 30th Mountain Division shattered, but somehow managed to save most of its artillery.

The Finnish Army reached a line of barely manned forts at the prewar border north of Leningrad and Field Marschal Mannerheim commanded them to stop despite the fact, that they could easily have broken through into the city. Von Leeb was furios, but could do little about it. In Eastern Karelia the advance continued without opposition.

The 8th week of the war sees the Soviets retreating from the Luga.

Therefore, the infantry of the 18th and part of the 16th Army is ordered foreward to clear as much of the swamps as possible. Most of the well rested LVI Panzer Corps crosses the Luga and waits for the start of the big push towards Leningrad, which should begin next week.

Contact is again established and the panzers rested even more. The Soviets can't retreat that much further without giving up Moscow.

At AG South, much to von Runstedts regret, the pocket is broken. Rather inexplicably there is neither good documentation about the fight or useful maps showing the event well. That might have to do with the wrong rumor that the Großdeutschland regiment has retreated after only a single battle. This is of course known to be wrong, as they are incapable of such cowardly an act.

At Odessa most of the garrison has regretfully managed to ship out.
