Turn 17. May/June 1942. Axis #9.

Weather. The weather clears dramatically. That's great news for the Euro-axis on the Eastern Front, the Japanese in North China (i.e., facing the communist) and, if the allies get another impulse this turn, the Brits (and French) in the Italian Coast.

Turn 17. May/June 1942. Axis #9.

Actions. Germany - land, Italy - land, Japan - land.

Japan. Strategic Bombing. Chungking, China. Japanese strategic bombers miss. As of lately (i.e., last couple of turns), they've been missing a lot more than they've been hitting. However, Japan will keep the bombing campaign up and rely on the law of large numbers to even things out.

Turn 17. May/June 1942. Axis #9.

Euro-Axis. The Eastern Front. With the resumption of fine weather across the Eastern Front, Germany and her allies tend to make the most of it. This impulse, they've will carry out five land combat. The first is a blitz attack by Army Group South.

Land Combat (1/5). Well, technically a victory and could have gone worse. But not a great start to the five scheduled land combats.

Turn 17. May/June 1942. Axis #9.

Euro-Axis. The Eastern Front. Land Combat (2/5). Another lukewarm victory and the second "raw" roll of 6 in row. Again, at least the axis don't have to take a loss.

Turn 17. May/June 1942. Axis #9.

Euro-Axis. The Eastern Front. Land Combat (4/5). This combat and axis victory were big. Germany with this attack finally manages to close the noose around Moscow and Zhukov's neck.

Turn 17. May/June 1942. Axis #9.

Euro-Axis. The Eastern Front. Land Combat (5/5). An outright loss for the Wehrmacht. The defenders of Novgorod hold. Well at least the Germans didn't have to take a loss and the Soviets did.

End of Turn. The turn continues on a roll of 6 (< 4 required to end).

Turn 17. May/June 1942. End of Turn.

Japanese-Soviet Neutrality Pact. Both the Japanese and Soviets draw a 3-value chit. The Japanese put their's in the offensive pool and the Soviet's put their's in the defensive pool. Though, with the current garrisons that both sides have on the border, these chits made no difference.

rkr1958 -> RE: Witness to World War 2. (4/3/2019 2:32:45 AM)

Turn 17. May/June 1942. End of Turn.

US Entry. The US draws and adds a 3-value chit to both the Japanese and Germany/Italy entry pools. The US then selects option 38 and rolls a 10, which results in no change in tension. They then choose option 27, roll a 1 and select to move a chit in the Germany/Italian entry pool to the tension pool. A 4-value chit is randomly chosen to move.

The US has achieved the optimum tension (i.e., 24-31) for maximizing DOW probability for both the Germany/Italy and Japanese entry pools. They now need to achieve the optimum entry level, which is 49-54.

The isolationists sentiment in the US is starting to melt a bit. The question is will it melt enough before Japan and possibly Germany/Italy preemptively declare war on the USA?

Oil (Factory) Destruction. Well, this is one oil point that the Germans won't get next turn, and will require them to spend BP's to repair if they do eventually want it.
