TG2.1 Java, Tromp, DeRuyter, Dragon, Durban and 7 Destroyers are going to attack North Bornea TG2.2 USS Swayback, Houston, Marblehead, Boise and 12 Destroyers are my reserve at Soerbaja (yes I gave myself another present of a US CA so shoot me !!!)

OK well where to begin Japanese TF landed a force on Nadi - HMNZS New Zealand TF went to Suva.....and didn't react Force Z finally sailed to Mersing 3 days late and the Japanese TF having unloaded the entire unit departed without a short fired TG2.1 ended up one hex short of target and didn't engage Japanese TF So ZERO combat..... Only good news Lexington and Enterprise caught an enemy TF sneaking up on Christmas Island and destroyed it. An of course in daylight TG2.1 AND Force Z were caught in the open water - fortunately only one bomb hit POW for no dmage but in the name of the wee man what a fiasco....

HMS Voyager was out of fuel so my entire 30 knot TF was reduced to 5 knots after making a full speed run yesterday probably why they got away they were actually faster than my TF because of my fuel status it cost me...….ffs

Ok game has progressed a couple of weeks and I messed up royally and by the numbers !!! 1. Japanese raiders hit my 1st West Coast to PH convoy with surface and air attacks and the CL and 6 DD escort was overwhelmed so I sent Saratoga and a a 7 DD TF our to rescue the convoy well Saratoga won the fight but took 2 Torpedoes from float torpedo bombers for her pains 2. My surface TFs are in tatters KB all 6 PH carriers arrived off of Java in last week of December and damaged a lot of my best cruisers 3. Raiders in the Indian Ocean are driving me nuts hitting convoys left right and centre I need carrier groups to hunt them down my losses in ships fleei g the DEI have been painful 4. Worst of all my delaying action by the two Australian Bdes was wildly successful allowing all up country forces to get back to Singapore and performing an excellent fighting withdrawal to Singapore however the early arrival of KB in DEI caught them before they had passed the Java /Sumatra gap and they were both annihilated in transit 5. Japan has taken all of Borneo all of Malaya except Singapore, MacArthur is penned up in Manila Fiji has fallen and NO reinforcements apart from refugees from Malaya have arrived in SWPAC or SOPAC it has not been a good srart

I seriously underestimated the impact of the Japanese and German raiders on my Indian Ocean transports and the speed of KB getting into the Java Sea has crippled my Evans I have lost numerous ships by waiting just one or two days too long The AMC raiders are nasty what was I thinking of I must be a total sadist

In my own game against the "old" Ironman Tier 3, my losses in xAKs were staggering. I really had supply issues in my main theaters, and had to escort ALL convoys with carriers. India, specially, was a PITA, by some designer choices [:'(] Welcome to your own nightmare [:D][:D][:D]

Trust me when I say things get better once you survive '42. Take a look at my thread on Heavy Urban Level 9 Fort Reduction for a ray of hope. Especially tough when you assign your carriers to hunt raiders and the damn raider float planes put fish into your carriers.

Review of SWPAC Japanese Bypassed Rabaul and went straight for PM both are holding but will fall in a few days my land forces are 5 Militia Divs - still using militia squads and in poor shape 6 Cav Bdes - not yet converted to motor or armoured Bde 3 Inf Bdes - in decent shape I also have the 3 'Bird' Bns and about 9 mixed cavalry and armoured regiments (with no tanks) At sea I have a TF of the Australia and Adeilade and that's it and again a few light bomber sqns En route I have 1 Dutch Regt from Java and 11th Indian Div plus whatever cruisers or destroyers escape the debacle in the DEI

What have you done with this AI? I have never seen the AI move this rapidly and in these directions. Hilo, Johnston Island and the air raids on the battleships on the West Coast are recognizable, but these moves in SoPac are not. Can this AI be adapted to other Ironman scenarios like #40?
