Soviet losses at the time.

My ART destroyed 0.8K and he loosed 70.8K of troopers. (Inf+LMG)
These are the bone of the majority of his troops.

During his attacks I will see annihilation of 9 III (German) and one of Rumania.
He too will loose 10 III.

I loosed 5 regiments for 12 of them

I don't know if I will keep Vitebsk?

The unit Red on Grey (8-13) are French Volunteers.

As before, I must replace regiment in great danger by battalions.
Air war is better; 10 vs 114 during my part for 8 vs 87 during his.
Total 18 vs 201.

I've indicated a regiment that has been engaged, trying to retreat.
They are no more entrench.

During the length of the turn, they loosed about 8.7 K of troopers.
Already, I must try to think for later.

How would you value the war and the scenario in its entirety? Smolensk in Soviet hands in December 1941 is bad news for the Germans.

I don't know yet for entirety. Never get thus far.
Main problem come from my cautiousness at the beginning.
Motorized units were poorly used to prevent their losses.
This authorized Russia to form strong defensive lines with much support.
Then I loosed shock advantage by failing to take objectives.
My main goal now is to survive their winter offensive.

They made a major push following the coast.
I was not really ready for that.

I got 223 Infantry division arriving by rail this turn.

situation seems good before receiving his answer.[&:]

There is a partisan brigade destroying my rail line between Minsk and Borisov.
His attacks are supported by mass artillery which shattered us.
I loosed 12 grenadier regiments for only 5 to him.

About 9 K of troopers removed anyway.

Turn 50. December 10th

along the lake, they didn't try attacks. Only keeping contact.

They took some ground near Pskov.
As indicated a Cavalry division advance.

2 battalions relieved regiments which were exhausted.

I've no more question about Vitebsk ! It's only a matter of time before it's fall.

Several Panzer divisions are coming to rescue.
Already 2 regiments are isolated. No hope to rescue them, "hold at all" cost is their order.

During entire turn, 10 of my planes will be destroyed for 180 Soviets.

I will try each following turns to show different sectors of importance.

4 armies are identified there.
Most dangerous place is in the south, where they try an envelopment.

Leaving Rumania to keep front line is probably not my best decision.[:(]
I must find a way to recover most of them.

We each lost 15 regiment, about 8.4K of Inf+LMG for him.
He must not have much in reserve.

I had to recover some units before they become isolated.
A regiment became engaged trying that.
This explain the visible HQ in second line.

we are around Gomel and Mozyr.
I've identify 2 Guard corps.

The group in the south (isolated one).
Contain a German reinforced division, few Hungary battalions and Pilfousek brigade (Slovak).
When this unit is disbanded/ destroyed, Fast division replaced it.

About 8.6 K of troopers destroyed.
I loosed 15 regiments (more to come) for 13 of him.

Situation is not improving.

Air war was not fine too, they claim many more then usual.
During entire turn, we erased 62 of their for 8 of mine.

We will have to fall back.
This position is under their fleet fire.

3 Armies are identify and 2 others aren't.

Air war has been better: 14 vs 68.

Losses are horrible (22 regiments disappeared for 20 Russians).
Only 6.7 K of troopers.

OKW will have to find a solution.
I receive few units coming back, reinforcement are scarce.

Kiev Fortress became isolated too!

Sole good news is the end of pestilence.
Soviets reconnaissance and tank brigades are running in my rear.
