France looks a little different. I redid the railroads (both the graphics and the layout).

Very nice PzM! Where can i get those counters from post 181-182?

On the other hand, it looks like the tank images may cover the reinforce/upgrade preference symbol, the green +. Possibly the aircraft silhouettes also?

AlvaroSousa -> RE: Panzer Map Mod (3/15/2020 5:47:31 PM)

Looks really good.

Using silhouettes or 3d images means there will be some overlap, it can't be helped because some symbols appear on fixed locations on the counter and is hard coded. But it is still very playable.

I will probably release the counters (with and without silhouettes) sometime this week. Same for the graphics of the map.

I am also far along with a "new" scenario. I call it "Scorched Earth". It is an adaptation of the the vanilla 1939 scenario. Many of the screenshots show the work in progress. I keep it in synch with the beta patches right now and plan to release when the official 106 patch is out.

PanzerMike -> Version 6 is ready (3/19/2020 5:39:17 PM)

Updated the first post. Version 6 of both units and map is up for download.

canuckgamer -> RE: Version 6 is ready (3/20/2020 1:26:52 AM)

Has the issue with the weather showing on the map been resolved for Version 6? Thanks.

Magpius -> RE: Version 6 is ready (3/20/2020 4:08:08 AM)

Weather works.
in all versions.

canuckgamer -> RE: Version 6 is ready (3/20/2020 9:14:00 PM)

I downloaded version 6 for units and maps but there was no Read Me file. I would like to install "units_NATO_vanilla" which I assume is what is showing for post #184. I looked under Documents/My Games/User Saved Data and didn't see a png file called units. I would like to back up the original png file before installing the mod. The map mod has 11 png images and again I can't find where I should put these files. I would like back up the original map png files before installing. Any help would be much appreciated.

PanzerMike -> RE: Version 6 is ready (3/20/2020 9:32:35 PM)

Download the files, and unzip.

Copy the map png files to the directory of the campaign in which you would like to use the graphics. Overwrite any existing png when asked by Windows, but a clean install has no Ong files in the campaign map, only txt files. If you remove the modded png files later, the game will use the stock graphics again, should you wish so. No backup of vanilla graphics necessary.

For the unit graphics, choose the png file you want to use (you can preview them in Windows first with any old viewer) and rename that one to units.png. Copy that units.png to the campaign directory (for example the Europe 1939).

So basically just put all the png files in the campaign directory of your choice and make sure you rename your units of choice to units.png.

canuckgamer -> RE: Version 6 is ready (3/20/2020 9:46:52 PM)

I copied "units_NATO_vanilla" png and pasted it in the Europe 1939 campaign folder but no change in the graphics. As you indicated the Europe 1939 campaign folder is all text files.

I noticed that there is a _New Custom Images folder where there are 3 png files:

"units"
"units_alternate1"
"units_alternate2"

Should the "units_NATO_vanilla" png be replacing the "units" png.

Sorry but I've never installed a mod and just picked up this game earlier this week.

MorningDew -> RE: Version 6 is ready (3/20/2020 11:20:23 PM)

It picks up whichever file is "units".

So rename the current "units" to "units_original"
Copy the one you want to use and rename it to units

canuckgamer -> RE: Version 6 is ready (3/21/2020 1:00:01 AM)

I copied the "units" png in the _New Custom Images folder on to a location of my second hard drive and on a memory stick. I put this png in to a folder called units original.
I then changed the "units_NATO_vanilla" to "units" and pasted it in to _New Custom Images folder. I still am only getting the unit graphics that came with the game.

PanzerMike -> RE: Version 6 is ready (3/21/2020 6:02:43 AM)

Ignore _New Custom Images, its name is misleading, leave it as it is.

The modded png files all go in the campaign directory. There is a campaign folder with a number of subfolders for each scenario. You have 1939, 1940, 1941, etc. If you want to play 1939 with modded graphics, copy the png files in there.

Make sure the name of the counters is units.png as opposed to the descriptive name I gave it in my zip file.

That's all.

Magpius -> RE: Version 6 is ready (3/21/2020 11:32:01 AM)

Great work PanzerM.
You got WAY too much time on your hands.

canuckgamer -> RE: Version 6 is ready (3/21/2020 4:00:31 PM)

PanzerMike, that did the trick. Really like the bevelled edges to the counters. Thanks.

Well thank you for those beautiful pictures but there are so many counter/terrain sets, is it easy to install? Did you write a small installation guide for newbies? [:)]

Thanks

PanzerMike -> RE: Version 6 is ready (3/28/2020 8:35:55 PM)

Installation is real easy, just copy all the png files you wish to use in the campaign directory (for example: C:\Users\*your user*\Documents\My Games\WarPlan\Campaigns\Europe 1939).
For the counters you also copy the png file of your choice in there, but you also rename that file to: units.png.

That is it.

PanzerMike -> RE: Version 6 is ready (3/28/2020 8:37:44 PM)

My scenario "Scorched Earth". A part of the USSR. Spot the differences with vanilla [:)]

ncc1701e -> RE: Version 6 is ready (3/28/2020 9:10:15 PM)

Just beautiful, nothing more to add. Can this map become vanilla? [:)]

PanzerMike -> RE: Version 6 is ready (3/28/2020 9:27:40 PM)

Thanks. Although there are many differences, basically, what works in vanilla will work in my Scorched Earth scenario. No need to relearn very much. I have played a few testgames now and you get used to it real easy. The vanilla map seems "empty" now to me by comparison.

Also, what you don't see is the MANY hover labels I added. They only show when you mouse over a hex. I think I added hundreds although I haven't counted them [:D]
