Probably best to double the reported numbers from the Communist Chinese.

That's what I want to know. In that graph on cases and deaths from the Covid Virus from Wuhan, how is death rate calculated?

The posted graph model above only calculates "total recovered" divided into the "total deaths" to get a percentage.
Where the model breaks down is that the ones who are neither reported recovered or died are kept in limbo.

Statistically there is no such thing a limbo?

Statistics could show separately the total reported (got it) to total deaths for a solid percentage. If they want they can then show a percentage based on total that got it to the total that recovered. But, it will still leave out the largest group that "neither recovered or died". Some call them coins in the air?

Everyone's concern seem pinned on the death rate. The higher the number the more sensational the reports?

44136/882068 = 5%

Now in Bob's graph posted above it is the first time that deaths to recovered "flattened out". But, statistically more people died than previous percentages show, if you are looking at total reported to total deaths. What you see from total reported to total deaths is that the percentage of those who died are steadily gone on. We just surpassed the 4% range into the 5% range.

With China not reporting "the truth" you will find that the WHO numbers are skewed and simply don't tell the correct story. Without accurate reporting from the epicenter of the Virus all other numbers remain skewed when looking at the totals?

The best look is at individual countries that test the most (a larger pool of more accurate information) and accurate reporting of the totals of who "got it", recovered and died.

Anxiety attack and coronavirus: how to calm them

In the event of a panic attack: "Panic attacks are often impressive," explains the psychologist. You have a hard time breathing, you may feel like you have a heart attack with fear of dying. Generally this type of attack lasts no more than 20 minutes. Rest assured, lie down and wait for the crisis to pass. Once the anxious puff is over, try to call a friend who can reassure you, your doctor or your shrink to discuss the emotions that overwhelmed you.

In the event of a "moderate" anxiety attack: these are less violent but can last longer. “The objective here will be to get out of our dark thoughts which spin in a loop and lead us to ruminate. To stop ruminations you have to change your ideas through action: physical activity, cooking, video calling with a loved one ... everything is good as long as you get rid of your dysfunctional thoughts which are sources of stress. "
Depressed, hypochondriac, anxious ... How to manage containment?

Some people may be more prone to a panic effect than others faced with this context of confinement, in particular isolated elderly people, patients with a history of mental disorders, with a generalized anxiety disorder, hypochondriacs or people going through a depressive episode. In this case "we must try to identify the thoughts and situations that accentuate our troubles, advises Johanna Rozenblum, everything that feeds our ruminant or depressed state". The advice is the same as for the others, exercise, activities, do not cut yourself off from others and do not stay all day in front of the information.

For people with psychological or psychiatric disorders, “you must not stop your treatment. Prescriptions continue to be issued by doctors via teleconsultation, email or telephone, and pharmacies supply the drugs upon presentation of old prescriptions. In case of emergency, you have to contact your doctor. ”

Conversely, "don't self-medicate either". We respect the doses prescribed by specialists. "Less move and stay folded can cause muscle pain or somatic, it should not be taken literally and throwing on medication," warns the specialist.
Try to see positive

Even if the unprecedented situation we are facing seems agonizing, passivity and the impression of being unable to do anything feed the anxiety which in turn paralyzes us, so do not let this vicious circle settle. Create a simple routine, try to see the positive that can emerge from this situation. “Many patients in my office often complain about not having the time and missing out on a lot, says the psychologist. This is an opportunity to take it, even if the context is difficult. Call people, prioritize verbal communication over messages, stay in touch, tell them you love them, read, spend time with loved ones in your home. ”

China isn't the only nation under reporting. The Soviet Union...er...Russia isn't being honest about what is going on within their borders. They control the flow of information. Likely the only numbers close to accurate are those out of the Western nations.

There is certainly enough questionable behaviour going around. Groups of fools traveling to Florida during March Break. Other fools travelling to New Orleans for Mardi Gras.

There are plenty of fools, and plenty of inconvenient truths................and they don't only make themselves known in China or Russia.

I wonder which countries have been sending cargo planes of aid to other countries?

The liars who started it all that's who. Of course the first in are the first out. Not surprising at all. And the guilty will try to assuage their guilt through acts of 'kindness'. The ultimate kindness would have been doing the right thing in the first place. So, I wonder what country could have mitigated the whole thing in the first place? But once the demon was out of the box there was no putting it back in. Now it's with us forever, same as the flu. What address in China should I send my thank you letter to? Not for this disease but rather the next one out of their wet markets.

W.H.O. is as guilty since they seem to be China's puppets.

Yes, the drunken morons in Florida and New Orleans are the poster children of stupidity. The college students in Florida are the future of the U.S.A. So much for the future of the U.S.A.

I'd say something about the 'leadership' of the U.S. but that would be considered even more political than calling out the culprits that could have kept this whole mess under better control. Although once loose in a global commercial center there was no squashing it.

This is only speculation. You offer no credible source for your views.

You say, "W.H.O. is as guilty since they seem to be China's puppets. Seem to be? So you are not sure? Perhaps you should check some sources before posting.

You say, "What address in China should I send my thank you letter to?" There are many people in the world who ask the same question about sending that letter to another country that is very well known for spreading death and destruction.

The best way to avoid this thread being locked is to not post one's speculations without linking to a credible article.

Hah. I thought we were talking about a virus. Didn't know we were talking about Russian/Soviet military exploits.

This is just one report. There are many others that point the same way. Of course I'm assuming you are not biased. Although your response makes that questionable. I suggest you seek the truth and do the research yourself. I did long before there was another new virus out of China.

today's not entirely random numbers connected with the Covid outbreak. Both are square metres - 3.5 and 45.

They affect the chances of some of the most vulnerable sections of humanity being able to practice isolation, social distancing or lockdown if Covid appears in their community.

My parents went to their primary physician yesterday. They wore some homemade face masks I made. When they got there no one in the office was wearing a face mask and they told my parents they could take them off. Apparently, their Doctor believes this is all being blown out of proportion. Still, My parents are in their 80s and I don't see what's wrong with taking extra precautions. I don't know about that doctor. I've heard enough of the horror stories that it seems like better safe than sorry.

I find it strange that countries, while knowing the problem, even before hand (Event 201), are all (80%) following practicaly the same strategy! Like if they were following some mayor rules, ruled out by who really governs the world.

One would think that a country with itīs own identity would come up with itīs own solutions to some of the issues that all this is laying on the table, but no, they all keep making the same mistakes other countries have made, or even worst mistakes! It dosenīt make sense to me...

All countries except perhaps South Korea were not ready for the pandemic.
All of them lack the necessary equipment, that is to say masks and tests, so they only have repressive sanitary measures such as confinement.
They are all wasting time because initially they think they are doing the right thing, saving the economy by leaving the free movement of their citizens, then after they understand that people who are dead, sick or terrorized will no longer travel to work and that the economy will fall anyway. And then they also understand that once the pandemic is over, their decisions during the pandemic will be dissected by their people ...

warspite1

Well I'm no expert on this sort of situation, so these are just my own personal observations.

You say they all keep making the same mistakes but what are governments of democracies to do? Even now there are plenty of people not taking this seriously and flouting the instructions.

The UK initially sought a different approach - herd immunity - but quickly back-tracked - presumably when seeing what was happening in Italy.

So given the nature of the virus - and how infectious it appears to be - what, realistically is the alternative? And as for being unprepared despite warnings of a pandemic 'when' not 'if'. Well for that we can look at the way governments run. Why weren't the French and British ready for WWII? Why wasn't the US ready for Japan? Democracies spending finite resource - money - on a problem that they can hopefully kick down the road and never face is just not going to happen. No one is going to give brownie points to a government who are fully ready for a war or a pandemic that never arrives (but in so doing has meant that spending on healthcare and education etc is reduced).

And once this thing hit (seemingly not helped by China's lack of transparency initially) there wasn't that much time to mobilise with so much of the drugs and equipment required being produced overseas and all governments trying to source.

Have governments been guilty of various mistakes? Of course, no one is perfect and mistakes are and will continue to be made. But then this is a first - the last big one was during and just after WWI - the world is an infinitely different place from then.

Just my thoughts.

It's sad but socialist countries seem to have one advantage over us and that is the ability to force people to do what is needed in times of emergency. Look at what Stalin was able to achieve leading up to and into WW2. It's like Sparta always seemed to get the better of Athens in war but their way of life wasn't anything most of us would be interested in. Maybe color me a pessimist but all good things seem to come at a cost. [:(]
