The tank spearhead has turned south down the Sian road and will clear our two corp block in a few days forcing them to retreat to the west...ok with this.

Our block west of Nanyang is solid and will take the tank spearhead to break. Forts there are up to 3.[;)]

The main worry is Changteh, forts 3, but no AA present yet -- it is moving there from Changsha. The IJA thrust is all infantry, so there is a good chance of inflicting some good damage on the river crossing, although the terrain is only x2.

We do have mines and CD guns at Johnston, just short actual grunts. Japan can easily send an invasion force from the Marshalls...

Bundaberg...on 2nd thought, we are marching the Bundaberg force southeast, will send some troops marching northwest from Maryborough and look to hold the division in that hex...if we can pull it off. Will need some luck and good use of reserve no pursuit tactics.

Too many troop transports at Bundaberg to risk having 465 Australian AV cut off there.

Geraldton...

tank units down near the Perth/Kalgoorlie line missing...will rail one of the divisions from Perth out and back to Kalgoorlie to act as a reserve.

Lowpe -> RE: Spanking Lowpe (NJP72 vs Lowpe (A)) (12/12/2020 1:05:11 PM)

Turn is away, and consistent with my strategic goals, we are launching three light cruiser raids off Akyab looking to cause great consternation, and also sending three destroyers into Babeldoab. These destroyers will run out of fuel on their return trip sometime, and I have dispatched an xakl to hopefully give them enough fuel to make it back on the morrow. Who knows how many mines are there though...

We are running from the KB...I wonder if they will proceed to hit Pearl Harbor now? All the battleships are there.

The KB hit hard last turn...destroying all the motorized support for a tank btln that is now on approach to Sydney, and also nailing an entire floatplane squadron. My bad there...

Allies have a pretty big maneuver advantage in doing their turn last...

Dawn...and instead of continuing on to Akyab...Wootten turns north to seek out the Chittagong landings...

The IJN seeks out this fight...and Wootten is only too glad to finish it.

Heavy combined Japanese air presence with fighters and even Petes...he sweeps Chittagong, but then our fighters escort some Swordfish thru...miss on the Kongo but hit a merchant ship.

The 21st Division is still licking their wounds from being forced out of Perth, but the 42nd Regiment is pretty fresh...might have been bombarded at Geraldton though.

Good intel.

Tiaotso finally falls...to a 2 division plus attack. Good stalling here...plus our troops are on the rail lines. Buying time.

Lowpe -> RE: Spanking Lowpe (NJP72 vs Lowpe (A)) (12/12/2020 7:46:21 PM)

And that is the turn...our raid on Babeldoab fell short...I knew I should have used other settings for it...

And it seems one division is short of Chittagong...IJA 475 AV against only 275 for Allies. Ooops.

Lots of American air power shows up at Capetown...and the first US ground forces should enter the map from Capetown today. No idea on the movement at Bundaberg yet...

I think our CD guns at Chittagong put fires on 3 IJN cargo ships...checking:

xAK Nissan Maru heavy fires
xAK Hakkai Maru heavy fires
xAP Hie Maru on fire
xAPYoshiro Maru torpedo hit, 3 destroyed squads, 6 disabled
AMC Awata Maru, on fire, 8 disabled squads

4x destroyers likely gone - nice job!

Ambassador -> RE: Spanking Lowpe (NJP72 vs Lowpe (A)) (12/12/2020 9:30:28 PM)

Tough luck for HMS Glasgow, I hope the damage is not too serious and you can repair her in time to use her before withdrawal. Good job on the DDs.

The Imperial Guards and 18th Div are good units, I’m pretty sure the 19th Div is an division which starts restricted in Manchuria or Korea and it’s certainly fresh. Hard to hold against that with less than 300 AV. An additional division would not necessarily be enough.
With the 21st Div in western Oz, one or two other divisions in eastern Oz (I don’t remember which ones you’ve spotted), and I guess the 33rd and 55th moving north in Burma, that’s a lot of dispersion. Did you manage to track the other divisions ?

And he still has to conquer the Philippines, I guess the forts are building nicely...

Admiral Wooten did really well, both Caledon and Colombo saw large jumps in crew experience, with Caledon hitting 81 and Colombo 73.

Interesting note that the Vals planted a general purpose bomb on Caledon in the morning and a SAP in the afternoon. Don't think I have seen that before...

One of the frequent inconsistencies around buggy RR strat movement into the enemy. Sometimes it happens, nothing you can do about, just grit your teeth and carry on. You can rationalize it as RR tracks being damaged by enemies in the hex. If only the behaviour was more predictable than in the current version.

Lowpe -> RE: Spanking Lowpe (NJP72 vs Lowpe (A)) (12/13/2020 12:16:13 PM)

Bundaberg

The 2/4th Armoured Rgt (love the spelling[;)]) actually has 5 Stuart II tanks![:)] They made a stalling march to meet the IJA 4th Division, which suffered 44 combat disabled in yesterdays fight with the Yanks (and 4 destroyed). They have around 320AV.

Local Guerillas. [:(]

I hope I don't get bit badly like I did in my last game with Obvert.
