Lowpe, enjoy your time with your family.

Surely Yuki no Shingun would be a more likely choice?

One may only wish for it...

Just finished my turn with Lok, and I am sitting on an exciting turn here, just haven't found time to run it yet.

Supposedly very bloody, which means Chittagong troops got wiped out, the Division is stuck off base unpacking adjacent to Chittagong which means they are out of the maneuver war for weeks....and, and perhaps our little three destroyer raid near Babeldoab struck paydirt.

I am curious to know what happened on the east coast of Oz....

Will post as soon as I run it...

Just remember sometimes if the top unit in the stack is going one way and the rest are going another, you don't see the other arrows. Not sure what causes this but I have seen it enough times to remember it.

Almost. There will be other pips showing the other movements, but they are quite small and easy to overlook. I suspect the game designers made it that way to allow this sort of deception.

I use a magnifying glass. There are also software magnifiers people use.

As you can tell from some of my pictures I use the Windows + to zoom in....still hard to tell sometimes.

Babeldoab...had a few potshots at the Mizuho and missed...got to within 4k yards...just poor destroyers when faced with any kind of opposition better than a PB.

IJA Tank Spearhead clears the Sian road...but I will take it...the IJA Tanks are seriously eroded and will need time to recover, and we are busy flying in AT assets.

In the Ops Loss total column the four largest numbers are IJ aircraft and the fifth largest is a tie between Buffalos and Oscars. But then compare the ops losses to the total losses for the same aircraft and the IJ is a much higher proportion of Ops loss than Allied aircraft. He is stretching his air forces unsustainably, IMO.

jdsrae -> RE: Spanking Lowpe (NJP72 vs Lowpe (A)) (12/21/2020 7:30:56 PM)

If you divide the total losses by the number of days that the war has been going, the IJ fighter losses look sustainable to me.
The total A6M2 losses are only 2-3 average per day, so probably being covered by production.
Pilot losses would be a fairly low % of the 105x A6M2s lost.

Betty and Nell losses are high though, and unlikely that they are being built at the rate they are being lost.
More than 100 experienced IJN strike pilots lost with them too.

CaptBeefheart -> RE: Spanking Lowpe (NJP72 vs Lowpe (A)) (12/22/2020 7:19:47 AM)

How is supply in Singers and the PI holding up? Are you able to sneak anything in?

Going well everywhere still

That Chittagong thing isn't good though

Doesn't the 18th start off with far less A/T and 25 pounders than its supposed to, tends to need a bit of time and replacement devices to be combat ready

Going to need a bit longer now!

ny59giants -> RE: Spanking Lowpe (NJP72 vs Lowpe (A)) (12/22/2020 11:36:47 AM)

India - Nathan's goal here will be to make your divisions combat ineffective long term and require months worth of replacements to fill them back up. He will use shock attacks as a standard way to do so. Once he gets a situation like he has around Chittagong, he will keep doing this until those troops are barely a cadre or until they are destroyed. I highly suspect he will try to use the industry around Calcutta for as long as possible, but not go anywhere close to the "Line of Death."

I'm afraid you might've got over-excited with naval and air results and started defending forward too soon. It serves you good in Western Oz and so-so in Eastern one. But initial Indian troops are crap compared to Aussies. It's infantry squads and devices that matter here, not territory. Let them live through upgrades with not too much stuff lost - that is the strategic goal in India in my opinion. And 18th might not have helped you much, with open terrain and incoming bombardments in Chittagong

Also I recall being cut off in Eastern India through 42 and suffering huge squad/device losses as a result is a theme that surfaces in Allied AARs quite frequently.

I agree, he will suffer no fighter shortage this game. PDU off, easily done...bombers over time become less and less effective for Japan...

Singers has 50K, forts near 4 where I will stop. Never took any reinforcements there.

Luzon same way 50K+, plus I never built forts here yet either.

I snuck some supply in via sub, not much to write home about. Singers was blockaded from the 7th of Dec.

Naval and air results have nothing to do with my decision to fight forward...rather, bypassing PI and Singers, hitting both coasts of Oz and India has.

He is in India with 2 divisions and one artillery...

IF the 18th Division would have made it to Chittagong, he would have been trapped there for quite a while having to steam up and back thru two British and two Dutch subs the entire time... 18th has full AT guns, but only 28 of 48 25#s.

Now, I have to watch out for a division sized landing at Diamond Harbor or Viz...he lacks the troop unit numbers to do Viz...so the bulk will go to Diamond Harbor.

All of the early troop deployments to Cape Town will be going to India...I think I will only be sending one squadron to Australia from Cape Town...

I seem to recall many players who go for India bring in paras after they get ashore.

I should have most covered after this next turn...including 40mm AA at the most likely bases...at least around Chittagong, not yet around Calcutta.

I plan on having a ready reaction force at Tezpur in SR mode, ready to rail in to any paratroop hit base. Ghurkas and Bofors.[:)]

Japan does have 35 aux at Akyab![X(] He has no DL on any potential paratroop target...

The sooner his bombing force is depleted, the better it is (I hate their long range). Especially if he’s lost a lot of the initial batch of good pilots.
It also means less LBA surpport for his CV’s in case of CV-to-CV engagement in a couple months, this might save some cripples if he can’t send 108 Netties the day after.

Plus, I guess all those A2A losses have created a lot of aces in your fighter units, and increased XP/skill in them. Have you managed to save a lot of them ? Or did they die in drove in the Buffaloes ?

ÉDIT: anyway, well done. Any time the IJ losses are greater than the Allied losses so early, it’s a good result.

I tried to build the base at Tezpur in my last game and found that it suffered unusually heavy malarial effects. Your unit there seems to have that with the high disruption/fatigue.
Also, three of those four LCUs will need to change their leaders before they engage anywhere.

Merry Christmas, Happy New Year, Happy Holidays!!![sm=happy0065.gif]

We had lots of Family, and when you get to our age, the kids return home for the Holidays spending half on one side of the family and the other with their spouse's side. No grandchildren yet, but we did have a 9 month old white German Shepherd for Christmas....forget how much work a puppy is.[:)]

But, now the war is back on, sent the turn out this morning...looking to make some more daring intercepts in this bloodbath of a game!

I have pretty much changed out all the leaders already, might have one more unit left...

Comilla is at risk this turn to paratroop invasion...can't get sufficient forces there by the small rail line.

Will work on building up Tezpur one of these days...

I am glad that you had a nice Christmas with your family. I hope that you have a good New Years as well.

As far as grandchildren go, spoil them and give them lots of chocolate - just before they leave. it is called getting even. [:D]

I read about an elderly gentleman who had a few married children but none had given him any grandchildren yet. They all kept giving him excuses. He had them all for dinner one night, they were all sleeping over, and as he was saying the prayer before dinner, he said something like "And I thank you for your generosity so that I could put one million dollars into a trust fund for the child who gives me my first grandchild." When he finished the prayer, he looked up and saw that he was the only one at the table. For some strange reason, all of his children and their spouses had already left the table. [;)]
