ObeseMonkey -> Issues getting game to run (3/25/2021 4:27:18 PM)

I downloaded the game, and the launcher was fine, but when pressing play nothing happens. In task manager it says the game is running though. I did install it to the D drive not the default c drive, and changed the file name to 'GaryGrisby'sWITE2'
I have a MSI laptop, windows 10 with a GTX 1070 and a i7 so pretty sure I meet the specs. Hopefully its me being stupid as i am useless with computers, but any help would be useful?

I am trying a re-install, and a re-download. After that I can try upgrading the grpahics driver, but its only 3 days out of date.

Erik Rutins -> RE: Issues getting game to run (3/25/2021 4:29:35 PM)

1. Did you allow DirectX 9 and .NET 4.7.2 to install during the installation?

2. Just to check, please try the default installation folder if you can and see if that makes any difference for you.

ObeseMonkey -> RE: Issues getting game to run (3/25/2021 4:34:41 PM)

1. I did yes. It said .Net was already installed, but it did instal Direct X.

2.I've done a fresh download so I'll try installing in to the C drive.

Meroka37 -> RE: Issues getting game to run (3/25/2021 4:37:16 PM)

Where did you install it previously?

I tried an external hard drive, and then the D drive which is internal.

Just to check, can you please try this:

Windows Media Player in Windows 10

To proceed with this method, right-click Start, select ‘Control Panel’ > ‘Programs’ > ‘Programs & Features’ and then click on ‘Turn Windows Features On or Off’.

Apps and Features. Click “Turn Window

Helpless -> RE: Issues getting game to run (3/25/2021 4:44:14 PM)

Can you please try to :

1. Start the game
2. Press "Editor"
3. Press "Load Generic Data" on the bottom

You should see "Generic Data Loaded" on the top.

4. Press "Go to The Map" on the bottom.

Erik Rutins -> RE: Issues getting game to run (3/25/2021 4:44:16 PM)

Please also try going to your installation folder and double-clicking on the WarInTheEast2 application file directly (bypassing the game menu on the desktop shortcut) to see if that makes any difference.

ObeseMonkey -> RE: Issues getting game to run (3/25/2021 4:49:22 PM)

The Windows Media is ticked as shown in the picture.
I should have said I already tried launching it directly to no luck. It also won't run on the C drive. Same issue as before, task manager shows either launcher running, or it has WITE2 running but nothing is happening.

I am not sure where 'editor' is? Do you mean on the launcher?

Bladesss -> RE: Issues getting game to run (3/25/2021 4:49:23 PM)

I crashed to desktop after i picked the scenario. 3840x2160
I tried several other screen resolutions and found that 2560x1440 worked.
Now after picking a scenario it asks for a saved game directory and enters the game.

Yes is did install that the direct x stuff during the install.
I am launching from the desktop icon

Any other tests i can run for you

Does it run ok on 2560x1440? Can you post a dxdiag?

Erik Rutins -> RE: Issues getting game to run (3/25/2021 4:52:28 PM)

Bladesss, please start a new thread with your issue to help us keep each one straight.

Ok, can you please run a DxDiag and attach it for us and confirm the resolution you are trying to run in?

ObeseMonkey -> RE: Issues getting game to run (3/25/2021 5:01:02 PM)

I have run it but can't work out how to attach the file one here? Sorry to be a pain!

as your using a MSI motherboard, just a stab in the dark, but can you try and disable the MSI afterburner overlay on startup then reboot and retry if you using it?, no worries if not i'll creep back in my dark hole and keep hiding[;)]

make sure you disable any overlay software,
like MSI Afterburner,
NVIDIA GeForce Experience Overlay,
AMD Overlay,
Discord Overlay etc,
Xbox overlay, this list goes on and on,.....

as any of these may interfere with the game, any game your having issues with etc etc.

install the game as admin and running the game as admin should setup the correct file permissions to run with most AV & firewall programs, some 3rd party poor ones may need to add a exception manually.

I don't think any overlays are on, checked and pretty sure they are all off. I also don't think afterburner is installed.

dudefan -> RE: Issues getting game to run (3/25/2021 5:26:15 PM)

do you also have the msi ge75 raider? maybe it is a coincidence or is it laptop related?

Erik Rutins -> RE: Issues getting game to run (3/25/2021 5:27:41 PM)

Just as a test, please try re-naming the "Video" sub-folder to "_Video". It's inside the "Dat" sub-folder of your installation, then try launching the game again.

I have an MSI GE72MVR 7RG Apache Pro. So not the same, but might be its something related to that.

Erik Rutins -> RE: Issues getting game to run (3/25/2021 5:28:37 PM)

Also, please try right clicking on the WarintheEast2 application in your installation folder, then choose "Run as Administrator" and let us know if that makes any difference.

dudefan -> RE: Issues getting game to run (3/25/2021 5:29:51 PM)

tried. didnt help

ObeseMonkey -> RE: Issues getting game to run (3/25/2021 5:30:46 PM)

Yh didn't work for me either.

Edit: Also tried running as admin.

Husky -> RE: Issues getting game to run (3/25/2021 5:34:09 PM)

dudefan -> RE: Issues getting game to run (3/25/2021 5:36:31 PM)
