Events!!!

Darn the Finns move fast!

Also of note there are many battles this turn. I also get to the point of using the old Soviet Aircraft or using the new aircraft with experienced pilots. I have my final thoughts on what I will do in the future in my next Soviet game and believe you will decide after I show my combat.

North

This was the defense I left facing the Germans on the Narva River at the end of turn 4. I opted for the one weak hex at the top with the 11 defense. I backed up the 11 defense with my routed unit and HQ to the NW in the off chance the 11 point hex gets attacked that a retreat will go NE.

This is the German attacks in the region which I will get into for the sake of the air battles. But basically the Germans cleared out the Soviets the west side of the Narva. The Narva won't hold the Germans and will plan the defense accordingly for this turn. The next few snapshots will go over the Air battles within these 4 attacks.

1st battle North

This battle rips the Soviets a new one in air combat. Even well rested Soviets over 59+ experience get eaten like candy. Of course I expected the result for the the Naval brigade having to retreat the way it had to.

****The loss over the 42 aircraft I had I assume comes from either 1. the AS contributed to this or 2. a bug. I am sure Loki could talk more to this or anyone else that knows the inner workings.****

Thank you for the Pearl. I implore everyone to go and read these valuable gems on post 9 of this AAR. Well worth it.

Ya on the panzers driving. This area goes hand in hand with what is happening around Pskov. One supports the other.

2nd battle West

This battle suffers the same fate as the first battle. Well rested Soviets over 59+ experience get eaten like candy. I will assume this area is important for attacking since we have Model in the house. Need to plan accordingly :(

The battle sees the Soviets get a few nice A2A kills. Even well rested Soviets over 59+ experience get eaten like candy but they are taking out some Germans. The Naval brigade shatters and to be expected at this early stage of the game.

So far what I have seen Dodo89 is handling the German Air Force very well. Awesome job [:)]

This battle is another the Soviets get murdered in. The only thing that is missing are the blindfolds. Thus even well rested Soviets over 59+ experience I feel is not the answer up front to confront the Germans. I feel you are going to have to use some of the older models and medi-core pilots to start at a minimum thinning out the Germans if going Head to head in air combat. That is what I came to the other day & this turn re-affirms my conviction so far. Which could change of course if someone shows me a better way. Because lords knows I could have done things incorrect for the Soviet side.

Even my escort to bombers ratio was not enough to save the Soviet bombers from the German masters of the Sky. Every bomber shot down. 3 to 1 ratio not big enough. Was able to get a few more fighters than normal shot down by Soviets ;-)

The Northwestern Air force and the Leningrad air force are in a total and utter ruin. All these Soviet squadrons are decimated with the losses. Yes, I will put the pieces back together but it is not all bad. The Germans basically ripped through them like a grown up stealing candy from a kid. I do have to confirm that the aircraft with the most kills is 100% the LAGG-3 which I thought it would be. Of course this is the first battles and can change.



Also notice my final combat value is horrid. Not just this one but every single battle. I need to figure out the date this will actually improve in game because it is defiantly programmed in to give a very big negative to every battle(I have an idea already on the date but if someone knows would be nice). I have yet to see a combat equal to or greater than the first value no matter who the commander or experience level is. At this point changing leaders, using best aircraft, and other things don't mean a DAMN thing. Just use what you have until the in-game inhibitors causing this are gone. THEN you do your upgrades. At least that is what I am doing for my next game as Soviets ;-)

You may be cherry picking your photo here ;-) I could cherry pick battle 8 or 7 ;-P (Also look at the air battles for the Northwestern front I posted earlier. Mig losses are through the roof(which could be bacuse there were more Migs)) At this point I want the aircraft that is going to shoot down the most Germans. If that happens to be the Lagg then that is my aircraft.



The Lagg-3 did shot down more German Aircraft so far ;-) Plus look at total overall losses on all the battles. My Laggs have not done overly bad.

But I have to say that M60 could still be correct overall.
