Or maybe just boost Soviet base production by a bit? Just throwing that out there.

I also think WarPlan2 needs "scenario options" set when starting the scenario. That way both players could for example agree to the "Italian Option" and it wouldn't be a completely different scenario, but the base scenario with an option applied.

The more I think about the more I think options/variants could increase the longevity and replayability of the game.

If my Soviets are struggling against an opponent? Activate the Stronger Soviets option.
If the Germans are struggling against France? Activate the Weaker France option.

We'd need something to strengthen/weaken each major nation.

This would help tremendously, at the moment we are all playing the base scenario over and over.

Just go to the 1940 scenario. Unit Basics -> change armor mech to 12 on effectiveness loss for combat, save.

I am testing now

But the 40 scenario is not a good spot to test.
The French army is much larger and better if you play from 39 on

Same with the UK

On the other hand the Germans are better in that scenario

As Stjeand has said we are playing a test game where rail repair is reduced to 2 hexes per turn. It is now August 1, 1941 which is the 7th turn of Barbarossa. For the first 3 or 4 turns the Axis advanced as strongly as ever (and perhaps even better than normal). This is not surprising as since the Axis get no rail repair on the first 2 turns anyway, it really isn't until the start of Turn 3 that any effect is felt. But now on the 7th turn, the Axis railheads are in some places up to 5 hexes behind where they would be but for the rail change. In other words instead of repairing 15 hexes over the past 5 turns only 10 hexes have been repaired.

The screenshot below shows the current railheads in the North and Centre. Circled in Blue are where those railheads would be if rail repair was 3 hexes per turn. There is not much difference in the North because the Baltic States rail repairs automatically. But as you can see, the supply levels of my units in the Centre are quite a bit less than they would be if I was repairing 3 hexes per turn. I even had to stop for one full turn to allow my units to recover.

But the biggest difference is in the South. I crossed the Dnieper on T3 (or was it turn 4) of Barbarossa; but here I am 4 turns later not having advanced much further. I have a lot of units that are receiving supply at 3 to 5 levels less that I otherwise would. That is a big difference.

Harry, not trying to cheat but that looks about right in the south...
You are a little past the historical spot but well ahead of schedule there...
The center will keep up.

North is too fast as you show...I think if Estonia and Latvia were made Russian rail gauge and Lithuania German that would swing the north.

AlvaroSousa -> RE: What To Do With Russia (10/22/2021 2:55:50 PM)

Hmm apparently I changed the repair rate to 3 per turn 18 months ago.

Let's see how far this game goes. I am also concerned with the late game.

Maybe with all the changes in the patches it might need to go back to 2.
