Outside Putnam. I work 20mi W of Boston.

That is close. Your work most be somewhere near Marlborough?

If you'd ever be interested in some old-fashioned, head-to-head, boardgaming let me know. I think all I have left is ASL & Flat-Top, but those were both classics.

Love to. would require some serious bartering with Wife 1.0...

Well, if you can get her to agree, great! [:)] PBEM is fun, but it's missing something that H2H boardgaming seems to have.

I wouldn't be able to do anything before the holidays, but that would give you some time to negotiate with wife 1.0.

Any preference as to the game? I've played a bunch (especially many/most of the old Avalon Hill titles) and had fun with all of them. Because of WitP I'm particularly interested in the Pacific war right now, so Flat Top would be my choice. But there's probably a couple dozen games I'd be happy to play.

just turned 29 for the 7th time whoo hoo!

first wargame: GG's "Carrier Force"

Saw it almost by accident during a visit to the computer store. Father had to pry
fingers off box before leaving. Several weeks of paperboy money later it was
back in my hot little hands.

many many hours of staring at TV screen followed. [:D]

Nik, you must be studying to be a politician... "Noone can prove that I said that. And if they can, I was misquoted!"

I had a gaming pal in the late '70's and early '80's whose wife would bring us beers and cook us meals while we would spend the most part of a weekend gaming. It happened on average one weekend a month. Those were the days...In '84 his company moved him to Wisconsin or Minnesota and I've been unable to track him down since...

His wife probably murdered him by pouring counters down his throat and replacing his eyeballs with dice and he's now mouldering in the ground in the deep woods up there.....

...oh, 44, still cynical and divorced, first game played Stalingrad (about 35 years ago).

Sardaukar -> RE: Our Ages..... (11/3/2006 3:05:26 PM)

39 yrs here. Started with Squad Leader tabletop game and with C-64 comp games. I think first C-64 games were Knights of the Desert and a Normandy invasion game of same genre.

mc3744 -> RE: Our Ages..... (11/3/2006 3:46:25 PM)

37, initiated by Avalon Hill [:)]

I remember getting those Microp(r)ose games for C64, wasn't "Red Storm Rising" one of them?

Yes it was, expecially that snake torpedo thing the Russians had.

Przemcio231 -> RE: Our Ages..... (11/3/2006 4:45:25 PM)

I still have this game on my PC and play it sometimes its kind of easy but gives a lot of fun... the only bad thing about it is that i do not know how to relad ordnance during the fight... or is it impossible[:D]

BigJ62 -> RE: Our Ages..... (11/3/2006 5:11:36 PM)

No idea been years ago since I played it.

Big B -> RE: Our Ages..... (11/3/2006 5:29:13 PM)

Turned the big 5-0 a few weeks ago - and for all you younger guys out there: "Life is still GOOD....oh yah", you are as old as you let yourself become...makes me about 24 [:D]

I cut my gaming teeth on Milton Bradley's American Heritage series games like 'Hit The Beach' and 'Dogfight!' back in the mid 1960s. Then by 1968 I discovered the wonderful world of Avalon Hill - with Jutland and Battle of the Bulge....the beginning of a life long addiction. [;)]

44 here. I got started on Axis & Allies in a garage in Marquette, Michigan. Moved on to Red Storm Rising, then War in Russia. I live for the day where we get a World War 2 game covering the entire conflict, with WITP detail. </drool>

aztez -> RE: Our Ages..... (11/3/2006 8:31:04 PM)

33 years old here. I started gaming with C64. (Spy Hunter, Blue Max, Red Storm Rising, Airbourne Ranger, etc)
Just to name few games out of my memory.

kokubokan25 -> RE: Our Ages..... (11/3/2006 8:56:07 PM)

Oh wow! I forgot all about Dogfight! Man, that was fun.

rtrapasso -> RE: Our Ages..... (11/4/2006 12:21:28 AM)

OK - pop quiz time for you Dogfight fans: who was piloting the Allied airplane on the cover of Dogfight (and no fair using search engines!) [:-] [:D]

Well, it looks like a Nieuport 17, in RFC markings....Hmmm Billy Bishop?

EDIT:
I'm leaning toward what 06 Maestro pointed out below...I rather think it's Albert Ball too.

Albert Ball, of course-eh, maybe.

bradfordkay -> RE: Our Ages..... (11/4/2006 6:27:14 AM)

Gawd, I had Dogfight, too. I'd forgotten it as I really can't consider any Milton Bradley product a real wargame! I recall nothing about the gameplay...

40 here. Ooops, its after midnight. 41 now.
Had a date with a 21 year old last night, though. Man it was great! Shortly after we moved on to the fruit spreads, I woke up.

My dachsund sure gave me a weird look this morning....

Redd -> RE: Our Ages..... (11/4/2006 6:09:37 PM)

I'll be 42 in january. My first game was Avalon Hill's France 1940. I never could find anyone to play it with, but I still bought many other games. Thank God for computers or I probobly never would have gotten back into gaming.

VSWG -> RE: Our Ages..... (11/4/2006 6:35:04 PM)

Happy birthday, AU Tiger! [:)]
